[Rant] off with this "Your Oppa" insult

The thing I hate most as a kpop fan is when fans are bastardized with the stereotype of "Oh Oppa, I love you no matter what you do!" In this age of kpop, very few fans actually say "OPPA!" anymore. The only time I see that is in a fanfic. Never anywhere else.

One of my biggest pet peeves is being incorrectly stereotyped. So I hate when a fan who doesn't immediately bash an idol during a scandal is characterized as a thirsty, delusional idiot. Take for instance this Yoochun scandal (as this has happened time and time again with male idols in a scandal). is a huge accusation, and anyone found guilty of should be separated from society and never allowed out of prison. Especially in these stranger rapists cases like Yoochun has been accused of. False accusations of are also immensely damaging. The accused can lose their career's, their families, their house, and other forms of relationships. They lose years of their lives as everyone looks at them in disgust for even being accused of . Not to mention if they are wrongfully convicted and spend years in prison for a crime they are innocent of.

Excuse me for not immediately going "OH , THAT BASTARD IS A AND NEEDS TO BE CASTRATED!"

Excuse me for instead saying "Well, I'll just wait for all the facts of the case to come out an a conclusion to be made."

Excuse me for not completely believing everything his accusers say.

Excuse me for not being totally disgusted by a man visiting an adult entertainment bar.

I'm a fairly liberal person. As long as someone's actions are safe, consensual, and legal, I don't care. If it's not hurting anybody, then you do you, boo.

But then you have people bashing his fans, calling them " worshipers", crazy, delusional, "Oppa is innocent!" idiots. Nobody ing uses OPPA in their comments! It's so insulting to be infantilized like that. I see that all the time whenever a male idol is faced with a scandal. The fans are accused of being mindless children who would support even Hitler if he was cute enough.

No, we're not brainless people. We're just not bloodthirsty people out to destroy a man's career because of the choices he makes in his private life.

I haven't seen a single person say "EVEN IF YOOCHUN IS A , I'LL SUPPORT HIM!" Nobody here ing supports !

Visiting an adult entertainment bar does not equal ! Until he is found guilty of ual assault and or soliciting , then leave his fans alone! That's what it means to be a fan, you support rather unconditionally. If he is found guilty, then release your y kraken then, condemn those fans for supporting a . BUT HE IS STILL INNOCENT UNTIL FOUND GUILTY!

I just ing hate people going "These idiots can't see the truth about their Oppa." Look , the truth is, legally, he's still ing innocent, so back the off. Fans aren't all mindless idiots who can't see reality. off with this "your oppa" bull.

I don't want this to sound like I support Yoochun completely. I'm perplexed by this. I can't whole heartedly rally behind him because he really could be a disgusting . I'm not sure what he's done is legal and safe even if he didn't ually assault/ those women. Most people are like this. Whether they are his fans or not. They're not ready to lynch him immediately. I see more people easily casting doubt on his accusers, it's a bit sad, but under the so far everything has been one sided "he says, she says" evidence. It's nothing conclusive and it's hard to believe what they say. I understand people who don't support him for simply visiting an adult entertainment bar. Everybody has their own standards.

A message to the fans of every idol involved in a scandal. Being a fan means absolute devotion. He's an idol, you worship him. Go ahead an do so when the person you worship is worthy or it. Don't let anyone look down on you for that. But remember, you are human before you are a fan. If your idol is no longer worthy, move on.

[I was reading comments and kept seeing this "oppa, oppa, oppa!" insult when I literally could not find a single comment that was even remotely like that. Literally not a single one. So these haters were just looking down on fans for doing what a fan does, support. I see this with every scandal a male faces.]

You go tell em! This is exactly my thought over this scandal. And it is irritating how non-fans think they have more right to judge him as guilty based on /reports/ from unauthorized sources aka the media while fans anxiously waiting for announcements from police and the company itself.

I also hate it when certain k-fan sites or 'news' report sites contribute to hyping a certain scandal like this.

This is so heartfelt. You're right for saying this. That you are telling people that he maybe have not done anything doesn't make you a thirsty worshipper either. You're just being neutral, trying to keep your head clear and trying to avoid any further drama for the idol. Sadly with a fandom full of spontaneous and younger people there's only quick judgement to be expected from certain corners. Why can't we all just be chill and wait for actual police reports??!?!?!?
