I am a huge fan of historical romance and there is this book i read the first chapter but couldn't remember its title or author. i hope those of you guys that read this genre can help me out.

the lady's name is uncommon and she flees a particular room to avoid being discovered. she enters the ballroom and the ladies were talking about a new duke who they claimed is dirty, naughty (rakish). the young ladies went aside and this lady is of the opinion that he might not really be as bad as they acclaimed, however a lady anne (i think) is of the opinion that she would never marry him even if her papa says so.

i really hope someone knows this book
