NEUTRAL: Confident, sassy, good liar, perfectionist, competitive.

(+) Ari is a very happy-go-lucky kind of girl that finds joy in the smallest things in life like; getting the last piece of beef at dinner or when her favourite store is on sale. She views the world as a rainbows and unicorn type of place. Ari tries her best to spread hope and happiness during dull times. She loves making the people around her laugh but will often end up laughing too hard to finish telling the joke. Ari is energetic and lively 24/7. It almosts seems as though she doesn’t need sleep to function because at 6 am on the dot, the dorm will be filled with the clang of pots and pans, courtesy of Ari. It’s become her unofficial job to wake everyone up on time for practice using any means possible. She is always seen skipping down the corridor while whistling a cheerful tune or wearing a smiling that reaches her ears. Ari is willing to do anything to help out (often the first person to volunteer to stack chairs or clean up).

However, there is more than what you see on the screen. Often people let their guard down and assume that what they are exposed to is the truth. Ari grew up with a musical director as a father, she knows every nook and cranny there is in media and how to act in front of a camera. To put it bluntly, it’s an act. It’s all an act, always has been to be honest. Ari entered the entertainment industry knowing what to expect. Be kind, be generous, be selfless. Be all that and you’ll be instantly liked. It’s all simple really, just act like you’re an innocent 7 year old. Sure, there are times when her act drops but do you genuinely think that any normal person would volunteer to do another’s dishes pft.

(-) However, there are some traits that she has strategically chosen to present to the public. If there’s one word to describe Ari, it’s loud. She. Doesn’t. Shut. Up. EVER! This girl honestly doesn't have  a filter and moves until the end of time. On the rare occasion that she shut , she’ll find other ways to deafen others. Whether it being screeching the lyrics to some trot song (off-key might I add), blasting music through the speakers or just plain yelling. Not even real words! She just sits there yelling gibberish and no one ever questions her.  Seeing as though she believes that world revolves around herself, Ari fails to be empathetic n=nor can she put herself in other people’s shoes. She will often say things straightforwardly without considering your feelings. And frankly, even if she does realise that she’s hurt you, she’ll pull the dumb blonde act; put on a bright smile and skip happily away. This kid is seriously the most headstrong person you will ever meet. Once her decision is made, she will not change it. Whether you like it or not, she’s made up her mind  and it’ll stay that way. But for real, does this chick ever SHUT UP?!

(+ -) Ari is a perfectionist.She hates leaving things undone and once she starts something, it becomes her life mission to complete. Ari knows what she’s good at and she isn't afraid to showcase her talents. This comes in handy when she dances but many interpret her confidence as cockiness (after all, there is only a thin line separating the two traits). Her sassiness is a humorous relief among the show/trainees but sometimes, her impulsiveness takes over and she doesn't think before she releases her sharp-tongue, ending up hurting someone sometimes. Her incredible ability to lie and improvise on the spot is amazing. Ari has long ago mastered the art of lying and how to keep her facial expressions neutral. She never loses her cool and remains calm even under stressful situations. Ari knows how to respond to questions perfectly and how to act in front of a camera/audience. She never says the wrong thing and doesn’t get flustered. However, this also means that you can never tell if she’s lying ro not. Ari never backs down from a challenge and hates losing even if it’s something stupid like who can tie their shoelaces the quickest.

 BACKGROUND 

Ari was born into a relatively wealthy family on the 21st of August in 1998. She was born in New York, United States of America to a father, mother and no siblings.

Dance. It was in Ari’s blood. Her mother was a retired prima ballerina who turned to teaching at The Juilliard School after her spinal cancer affecting her dance career while her father was a musical director. Ari started dancing at the ripe age of 2 and started ballet at 4 years old. She was the youngest amongst her peers but that didn’t stop the teacher from seeing her talent. Ari’s mother had forced dance upon her so when she first started dance, Ari thought of it as a waste of time. Ari envied her classmates who went to the playground every weekend while she was stuck in a studio. However once she turned 8, her love for dance dawned upon her. When dancing, she becomes one with the music, which is what sparked her interest in music (as well as her dad doing something musical all the goddamn time.

Ari continued her ballet studies and went en pointe at 9 years old. Being an only child, she often tagged along with her parents to work. When at her dad’s theatre, she would observe the actors and actresses during their scenes. From this, Ari learnt from a young age how to hide emotions and how to portray herself a certain way. On the other hand, when Ari spent of her hours after school at Juilliard waiting for her mum to finish classes, she would secretly wonder to the hip-hop department where she watched the students practice. Yes, it was still dancing, but something about they way they flowed and their feeling was different from ballet.

When she turned 10, her dad was offered a broadway series in South Korea so her family moved. The stay was only supposed to last for half a year but soon after, her mother was offered the position of director at renowned ballet company; The Universal Ballet.

In 2013 when Ari was 15, she was scouted by a Pledis representative while on the way home from hip-hop class. She attended the audition as a dancer and performed a self-choreographed dance to iKON’s My Type. She passed and officially became a part of the Pledis Girlz in January 2013. At Pledis, Ari learnt how to rap because the trainers told her that her voice was better suited for rap (that was a nicer way of saying she sounded like a dying walrus when she sang). Also while at Pledis, she developed a special friendship with Hoshi over their mutual love of dance. Both Hoshi and Ari used to wake up early and stay up late together practicing and choreographing their own dances. Truthfully, Ari never liked the way Pledis ran. She planned to leave the company earlier, but the boys of Seventeen all needed to finished their partner projects before debuting. So she stayed for her Seventeen friends to debut. She ultimately left Pledis in January 2015, as soon as Seventeen's debut plans were confirmed for May.

Even after she quit Pledis, she still continued to sing and dance every day. She began to study hip-hop at 1MILLION Dance Studio. Then in March 2015, a Starship Entertainment representative was at the studio scouting for young trainees. He was guided to Ari by Sori Na and he saw her practicing alone in one of the practice rooms and asked her to audition. There, she auditioned with a self-choreographed dance to Justin Bieber’s What Do You Mean as a dancer and was accepted as a dance-specializing trainee under Starship.

 FAMILY 

father — Anthony Moon // 48 // Musical Theater Director // hard-working, perfectionist, stern // Ari's father is a man of work. He is always seen writing a new song for his upcoming musical or yelling stage directions to his actors/actresses. Anthony supports Ari and her decision to join the entertainment industry. Hell, he plans to use her to promote his shows later on in the future.

mother — Leah Moon // 45 // Director of Universal Ballet // work-orientated, supportive, caring // Ari's mother is mostly away, looking after her precious ballet company (Ari sometimes thinks her mother loves the company more than she loves Ari and her father). However, when she is free, she'll try spend time with her daughter. Supportive but weary of her daughter's career choice since she knows the hardships of being in the industry.

 FRIENDS 

Best friend — Kwon Hoshi // 19 // Kpop idol; Seventeen // funny, diligent, commical // Being 1/3 of the Seventeen Gag Trio means that Hoshi is obviously hilarious and has the ability to cause Ari to howl in laughter like a hyena. These 2 met during Ari's days as a Pledis trainee. As dancers, they used to wake up early and stay up late together; practicing and choreographing. He is one of the only people that Ari doesn't act around, she shows him her true sarcastically-beautiful self. 

very close friend — Zhou Jieqiong (Pinky) // 17 // Pledis trainee // beagle, punny, cheerful // This dorky bean thinks she's the bomb whenever she makes puns *comes into the room holding a grater* "I know it's cheesy but I feel great" "Pinky, get out". These 2 met during Ari's days as a Pledis trainee, Pinky had been at Pledis since 2010 so she helped Ari settle into the new environment. These 2 grew extremely close over the course of 2 years. Both girls cried endlessly when Ari decided to leave Pledis.

Close friend — Park Eunsol // 19 // Starship trainee // ambitious, humble, impatient // Eunsol was one of the only trainees who decided that Ari was worth her time when she first joined Starship. Upon learning that they both had connections to Seventeen and Pledis, they spent countless hours gossiping about the old trainers that had been at Pledis for centuries, how annoying Seventeen were and how much they hated taking 4 flights of stairs everyday to get to the practice room. However, since both girls are so impatient, they have frequent bickers over useless things like how Eunsol never washes her cup of hot chocolate every night or whenever Ari takes more than 3 minutes to change clothes.

 OTHERS 

mentor — Sori  Na // 26 // 1MILLION dance instructor // bubbly, persistent, genuine // Her happy, smiley personality made her very easy to get along with when Ari first met her. She looks after hubaes well and is a very genuine person. She loves goofy around but knows when it’s time to get down to business. Much like with Hoshi, Ari and Sori bonded over dance and were often seen practicing or choreographing together. Sori acts as Ari’s performance mentor and gives her lots of good advice like 'how to follow cameras', 'onstage spacing', 'facial expressions' etc.

 THE WEAPON 

DESIRED STAGE NAME — Ari - just a shorter way of saying her English name; Aria.
FANCLUB NAME — Little Ballerinas.
TRAINING DURATION — 2 years at Pledis, 1 year and 3 months at Starship (3 yrs and 3 mths).
TRAINEE LIFE — Ari transitioned back into trainee life easily since it hadn't been that different of a process from Pledis. She was fully aware of the hardships and cruel nature that came with training.

At first, none of the other trainees approached Ari - it wasn’t anything personal, just the competitive trainee life. Eventually, she found a small group of friends (including Eunsol) whom she could show a bit of her true side to. Ari didn't get along with a lot of trainees because of her talents  and snappy remarks. Expecting that there was fresh bait to mock for not being untalented, the other trainees were (to say the least) not happy to discover that their new trainee didn't sound like a dying walrus when she attempted something musical (Ari wasn’t stupid enough to show everyone her singing). Most of the trainees that specialized in rap didn't like Ari because they found it unfair that she didn't start at the bottom ranks like they had. But frankly, Ari couldn't care any less about what they thought of her. But frankly, Ari couldn't care any less about what they thought of her.

At first, she was distant from everyone and didn't try making any friends. Ari picked things up fast and her hard-working behavior were often praised by trainers, although she was continuously nagged at by health trainers about the 'unhealthy' nutritional values of pizza. Pft as if that would stop her from stuffing her face.

In training, she mostly focused on herself instead of the snarky comments around her. However, there was that one time she accidently stepped on another trainee's foot coincidentally right after she mentioned Ari's mother.

When the chance of participating in Amen was presented to her, Ari knew that just because she's been given an opportunity, doesn't mean that she should let her guard down. Chances like debuting aren't handed to trainees every fortnight on a silver platter or something, so she was prepared to work her off to be one of the last 9 standing. Even if she was chosen to be in PRXISE, if anything, that just means that she need to work harder than she's ever worked before.
