Hyejin is one of those girls who's really insistent that she's "not like other girls." She is a special snowflake in her own mind and she's pretty aggressive about making sure everyone else knows that too. She isn't a fan of anything she deems "girly" and does her best to avoid trends, or anything else she finds stereotypical. She revels in being different, or "original" as she likes to term it. She can become very whiny when people compare her to anyone else, revealing her age as she's still very immature. Hyejin can be a huge brat when things happen that she doesn't like since she hasn't learned how to handle adversity aside from getting upset until someone calms her down (usually her mother, or Kai's Boy once they become friends). She doesn't really think anything through either and acts on instinct since she thinks she knows how to handle any situation (again this is part of her immaturity as well). Her impulses usually backfire in her face, but she's so impatient to get things done that she hasn't really learned to look before she leaps yet. Maybe when she's older.

But Hyejin isn't all bad. In fact, she's a rather nice person overall, assuming you're not on her bad side. She's a very bright and energetic girl and she's always ready and willing to dive headfirst into just about anything. Her curiosity far outweighs her caution, resulting in her being the sort of person who seems to be able to thrive in just about any social setting as she's always quick to make friends and explore the situation. She loves chatting and can befriend just about anyone thanks to her outgoing nature and willingness to carry the conversation (a skill she learned from watching her mother work). And she's not a bad friend to have around. She's always encouraging those around her, never letting anyone think badly of themselves (unless she doesn't like them) and she's always happy to point out all the good things people have accomplished. She's not exactly an optimist as she definitely does think some poeple just , but she does tend to notice more good than bad as a general rule.

⟪ BACKGROUND ⟫

After EXO broke up, Sehun decided to focus on his acting career - and he did very well. Two years after the disbandment he and his high school best friend Daeun ran into each other on a show and started talking again. A few months later he asked her out, and they were married after a year and a half of dating. Hyejin came into their lives a year later, and the little family was content to remain as three. The birth of the twins five years later was quite unexpected, but the family adapted, moving out of the city center and into a larger house to accomodate the additions. Hyejin didn't mind her brothers at all, even if she does always refer to them as 'accidents' when talking about why there's such an between her and them. She made a lot of friends in primary and middle school, but they lost touch when she applied to and was accepted at SOPA, and they went elsewhere.

Hyejin can admit that she mostly got into her high school because her parents are both alumni, but she still worked hard to do well in classes and discovered a knack for rapping early on in her first year. She really enjoyed rapping and continued to study it even though her main focus at school was acting. Her parents both supported her new hobby but continually, gentley, suggested that she stay away from joining any entertainment companies until she was a bit older, though some companies did offer her contracts during a year end performance. And Hyejin didn't really intend to become an idol - she'd known from childhood that her passion lay in acting. She used to visit her parents on location when she was young, and seeing her dad at work never got old for Hyejin. In fact, it was the one thing the father and daughter really bonded over, and Sehun loved going through scripts with Hyejin and helping her learn how to act.

In her second year of high school, Hyejin was approached by a few SM scouts saying that she had to sign a contract with them. Hyejin declined, annoyed at how pushy they were being, and told her parents about the incident at the dinner table that night. Sehun looked like someone had hit him while Daeun just rolled her eyes. That night, when she was getting ready for bed, Hyejin overheard her parents quietly arguing about something, but when she tried to sneak closer and hear what they were saying they spotted her a quickly stopped talking. The whispering and secrecy went on for the next month, and Hyejin was getting really annoyed since they were always looking at her when they were whispering, so she knew it had something to do with her. She eventually confronted them, but all Daeun would say was that "we're taking care of it, don't worry snowflake." Eventually Sehun broke and told Hyejin that part of the EXO contract was that their children would have to be in an SM group if they broke up early. He told her that they had hired lawyers to make sure SM didn't try to sign a contract with Hyejin.

However, after thinking it over, Hyejin announced to her parents at breakfast a few weeks later that she'd be willing to sign with SM. Daeun was upset that Sehun had told Hyejin what was going on, but she didn't stay mad at her husband for very long (though they argue regularly they both do love each other and always find ways to compromise and move forward). Instead both parents spent the next several days trying to explain to their daughter why they didn't want her "signing her life away", especially at such a young age. But Hyejin was adamant, and after she pointed out for the millionth time that this way they wouldn't have to spend money on the lawyers, her parents finally relented, and Hyejin and Sehun went to SM later that day to sign the contract. Since the Oh family had been fighting the contract for a few months at that point, Hyejin was the last member of ASTRAL to sign her contract, so she was immediately placed into the dorms. She didn't make the best first impression - she tried to cook herself some lunch and started a fire so the group came home from practice to a smoke-filled dorm - but she did eventually make friends and get settled in.

→ She and her family used to go skiiing every winter so she's actually pretty good at skiing

→ She's the worlds worst cook and should be kept away from the kitchen at all costs (she will never live down that first impression)
→ Her least favorite part about being an idol is hands-down the fact that she has to wear dresses and skirts sometimes
→ Though she's never outright said it, Hyejin is pretty obvious about the fact she's gay, even using gender-neutral pronouns when discussing her ideal type
→ That does not stop people from not realizing she's gay
→ She is out to her family, but they're sort of in the mode of "okay, if that's true then we support you but maybe wait until you're older to make that call"
→ Hyejin wears fake nails since her real ones were chewed clean off some time ago
→ Other than EXO, Hyejin's favorite groups are Super Junior, SNSD, f(x) and Red Velvet. She actually doesn't know any of the newer groups very well, having only looked up the above ones because they were under her dad's label and he knew some of them.
→ Sulli is her idol crush
→ Hyejin is an awful singer. This does not stop her from singing in public. Very enthusiastically.
→ Hyejin is very open about the fact she intends to become an actress ultimately, and she really hopes to kickstart her career while she's still in ASTRAL
→ Her stage name "흰" simply means "white" (the adjective). She was going to use "snowflake" but changed her mind at the last minute for no apparent reason. When asked she just shrugs and replies "i dunno, I like it better I guess."

Sehun does try his best to be there for his daughter, and she does love him for it. But she still goes to her mother for the important things.

Daeun is just closer to Hyejin in terms of personality, not to mention once puberty hit her father was completely useless when she had questions about anything involving that. Hyejin really looks up to her mom and would say that she's probably the closest Hyejin has to a role model.

They have similar personalities which sometimes rub each other the wrong way, but also means they can understand each other well, so Hanbin usually talks to Hyejin when he's upset about something rather than his parents.

However, the two are similar to her and Sehun since they don't have much in common, so they don't have much to talk about.

As such, they've ended up getting to know each other well and have developed a strong friendship. Fans love shipping them and they honestly play up their cuddling onstage for fanservice, but there's nothing romantic between them. At least, not on Hyejin's side (Obviously this could be different depending on the app for Kai's Boy but i thought it made sense :) )

Mostly for very superficial reasons, like the fact she's very feminine or that fans always say the two of them are similar (both cheerful, but also impatient and stubborn), which Hyejin doesn't like. She's not similar to anyone, nonetheless someone as "girly" as Miya!
→ The Other Leader, Kris's Boy ⋮ 22 ⋮ Leader of ASTRAL ⋮ tbd ⋮ Hyejin isn't nearly as obedient or helpful with the male leader as she is with Lay's girl. It's not by any fault of his own, she just doesn't have a giant puppy crush on him, so she doesn't feel as strong an urge to listen to every word he says. As such she often ends up zoning out during his talks, making her one of his less favorite members.

It started mostly because Xiumin was Hyejin's bias in EXO (of course she's a fan of her dad's old band, how could she not be?) but Hyejin soon found that she really enjoyed the other's company and now often seeks her out when she wants to practice.
