PERSONALITY
other than his good looks, there is something in daehwan that draw people in. it might be his sharp gaze, it might be his strong aura, but there's just something in daehwan, a special ability to attracts people. he is also has a really smart brain, a brain that could help him to understand a concept or a lesson in his first time learning it, the ability to digest informations quickly. he is someone who doesn't need to study hard to get the first place in class, because he is naturally smart. as someone who already feels the bitter, bad things in life, he teach himself not to hope too much, and to see things as it is. he is someone who is not fond of dreams, of imaginations, because he never bother to concern about things that are not real or impossible to be real. at least for him. that's why daehwan rarely gets disappointed, because he never hope too much.
daehwan, despite being silent and tends to stick to himself most of the time, when it comes to group projects, he would be responsible of his tasks and send it in before the due date. he is a responsible person in general, always do whatever he is told to do, and never backs down or give up when things get hard. you can always count on daehwan if you need something to be done. he is also someone who rarely show any emotions on his face, as he hides everything inside him and never bother to be annoyed or angry or sad over things that happens to him, because he knows there's no use of whining about something that has been done, he would just accept those things calmly. he controls his emotions perfectly, thus the birth of his famous expressionless face.
daehwan is someone who is distant and reserved towards people around him, always looks very cold which makes people afraid to approach him despite the fact that there are tons who try, but always failed. he always separate himself from the crowd, only talks when someone asks him a question or when he feels the need to talk. he is also someone who doesn't connect emotionally with people, never realize it when someone is hurt, when someone is sad, when someone is mad. and honestly, he doesn't care about people emotions either. daehwan, as he grows up in the society where there is rarely genuine people who get close to him because they really want to be his friends, has a really hard time to trust people. he believes that everyone has a motive when they want to get close, he trust that everyone around him is just a bunch of selfish and dishonest people. that's why he always become so secretive over his personal matters, never bother to tell anyone even though he has big problems that pains him and makes him sick. despite giving off the impression that he doesn't care about anything except the things his parents told him to do, daehwan often found himself feel envious over people around him, happy people with genuine smile on his face, the maid in his house that has family waiting for them at home with warm-cooked meal, kids around his age that could wander around everywhere without the worry of being caught by paparazzi, he envies all of them. and that's why he often acts cold and rude towards the maid, or people who is happy in his view, all because all of them makes him feel empty inside, they makes him feel suffocated, and lonely.
THE STORYBOOK
daehwan's life has been under the spotlight since the minute he was born, all because the fact that he is the son of choi hyejin, one of the most famous actress and model in south korea, and also choi jungcheol, a powerful and successful man in the bussiness field. all media outlets write articles about his birth, and they always follow every step that daehwan made, even until now, 17 years after his birth. daehwan lives under the pressure of cameras and public sentiments about him and his family, and because of that, he never able to enjoy his life like other kids around his age. since he was able to talk and to understand thing, his father already prepares himself to be the future ceo of his father's empire, a famous technology company in south korea and near countries. his life has been boring, filled with repeated schedules which consisted of mostly study. he never complains, though, because he know it's the sole purpose of his life, to be the future ceo of his father's company, because that's the sole reason on why he is made, on why her mother gave birth to him, all because they want a heir, not a child. heck, his mother is still young and she is at the peak of her career to think about having a child that time. and that's why daehwan doesn't have any siblings, because they already has a son to be a heir, and they don't need another burden to take care of.
daehwan grows up with very little affection from his parents, but he manage to get through because of the help of his personal assistant and his kid. he is excited to go to school at first, with the probabilities of new friends and all, he manage to get some friends in kindergarten, even some who he consider bestfriends, but then he enters elementary school, and none of his so called bestfriend in kindergarten ever talk to him again because he enters a private, prestigious elementary school far from his old kindergarten. there, in elementary school, is when he learns that something called real friendship doesn't exist in real life, because he get betrayed by someone he hold dear to him, someone he called his bestfriend. daehwan was in his fifth year of elementary school when he knows that his bestfriend only get close to him because his parents told him to, to get benefit from daehwan's money and connections (his father connections, actually), and not because he genuinely wants to get close to him. it hurts daehwan so much, and since that day, he promise to himself that he would never be friends with anyone, that he would never trust someone so easily anymore. and that's the birth of the cynical and aloof daehwan we know now.
there's a big thing happen in daehwan's life when he was fifteen, when he realize that he is not as normal as boys around him. when daehwan was fifteen, he found out that he has a massive crush, his first massive crush towards a boy (he has like girls before, but this is his first time with boys), a handsome, polite, and kind boy who he has known for his lifetime, someone who goes by the name of jung yoonjae, the son of his old personal assistant and now the personal assistant of daehwan himself. daehwan at first shrug off the feelings as a feeling of love between siblings, because yoonjae is the only one, beside daehwan's old personal assistant alias his father, that he let to be close with him. they literally grow up together, afterall. but then the feelings grows, to the point that daehwan feels jealous over every person that he sees talking to yoonjae and do skinships with him. that's when daehwan realize that he indeed like yoonjae, and that's the point where daehwan starts to hate himself so much, the point where he couldn't just accept thing as it is, because he knows his father would murder him if he ever found out. and that's why, daehwan avoid yoonjae like he is a plague, and he took the time where he avoid yoonjae to try to accept himself for who he is. after some months he spend in solitude, he finally could accept himself as someone who likes both gender, even though it's something he has a hard time to accept. he doesn't avoid yoonjae anymore, but he tries his best not to let his feelings grow more than it already has.
EFF IT, I'M GONNA WRITE MY OWN STORYBOOK
daehwan lives in a big house, house that almost look like a mansion, even though he only live there with his parents and oh- maids, assistants, and chauffeurs. his parents are rarely home, so there would be mostly daehwan himself and the maids, assistants, and chauffeurs. he locks himself inside his room everyday, never go out from there unless it's time for him to go to school, because there are maids who would bring him every things he needs. he never let anyone enter his room except he told them so, and the only one he would let to his room without any permission is yoonjae and yoonjae's father- and his parents, of course, but actually he would be happy if he could just yell at them to leave, just like he did to the maids. he would also be happy if he could yell to the paparazzi standing outside his house for hours, just to get some juicy gossips about his parents or daehwan himself.
he always wakes at seven thirty in the morning, and the only task he has to do is to bath, because his personal assistant already prepare his uniforms and his bag with the belongings for him. after that, one of the chauffeur would drive him to school, and he would spend the day in school with his focus only on the teachers. he doesn't involved in any clubs, so he would immediately go home when the bell rings. at home, he would continue to study in his room, sometimes alone, sometimes with tutors. he doesn't study school's subjects, but he study about bussiness, stocks, mandarin, english, etc. instead. he eat dinner some time in the middle of his study, and then at eleven pm, his busy day ends and it's the time for him to sleep. it's his routine from monday to friday, and in saturday he would get a free day where he would spend it to sleep all day or to talk and play with yoonjae. in sunday, he would study his school subjects by himself, review it again, and he could call a tutor if there's something he doesn't understand. he learns all the school subject in sunday, from morning to night. sometimes (often) his father bring him to his bussiness events and meetings, and that day becomes a day off from him. the same apply to when his mother bring him to her social events.
yes, that kind of life does exist.
HIGH SCHOOL ISN'T FOR LITTLE KIDS
daehwan is someone who stood out in every subjects in school. math, science, history, english, korean, physical education, arts, you name it. he always gets score higher than 90 in every exams, even perfect score in some. he is the number one among students in his year since he enters middle school, and that's the result of his hardwork (or the result of his fear towards his father). when he is at school, he wouldn't interact with anyone unless there's someone who ask him questions or when he needs to talk ('excuse me, could you move your head because it blocks my view.'). he spend his lunch break alone, as he sits in one big table without no one who accompany him (despite the fact that there are lots of people who want to) and eat his lunch in silence. he never bother to get into a club, because he is already as busy as he is despite the fact that he actually wants to try basketball club.
STALKERS KNOW ABOUT ME
— has claustrophobia, all because when he was young, his father often locks himself inside a small, closed room in his house and left him there for hours (the longest record is 15 hours, and the one who open the door is daehwan's personal assistant, who stole the key from his father), all because he fail to get scores higher than 90 in school. it stops when daehwan was in 4th grade though, because that's the time when daehwan decide to works very hard to get scores over 90 in every exams and assignments.
— actually has a dream to be an architect, but he never think too much about it or has a hope that he could pursue it someday because he knows he already has everything in his life prepared by his parents.
— get stressed out a lot, and his way to relieve himself from the stress is to sleep or to drink coffee, thus he often found sleeping in his day off, and how there would always be a cup of coffee near him whenever he study. he becomes addicted to coffee because of that. he barely survive without a coffee, even just for one day.
— has a crush on a girl when he was in elementary school, but it never went anywhere because he is a coward when it comes to love. it's only an elementary school crush, anyway.
— wear glasses when he has to study and read books. his eye power is minus one and a half.
— he is open to many genres of music to listen, but his favorites is classic, pop, r&b, jazz, and country.
— is not too fond of animals, but trying to like dogs because yoonjae is a dog person.
— never really went to the rich kids' parties because first, he is not a party person and second, journalists will follow him if he went to a party, waiting for him to get drunk and do embarassing things that could be news worthy or something like that.
— he has clean record of no drinking, no smoking, no drugs, and no free . well, that's what people know.
— more to the movie type of guy than the book type. (i already read tons of books everyday and you expect me to read more books in my day off? nah, i prefer to just watch the movies instead.)
— he could play piano well, as he learn it from when he was six. it's an extra talent and her parents, especially his mother, loves to brag about him and often force him to play piano in her social events.
— never cursed before, and that's all because he has to keep his image in front of the public. yoonjae sometimes told him some curses words without anyone knowing though.
— his definition of playing with yoonjae is : they play games together on their phone, trying to beat each other score, or they play wrestling on daehwan's bed, and any other simple games they could think of. when they are together, they mostly talk tho.
— if someone asks him which one of his parents he hates more, he would definitely say it's his mother because she is the one who makes he life inside a cctv. he doesn't really hate her that much though, he just dislike the fact that he has to life like a celebrity when he is not.
— daehwan used to be a more bright, happy person when he was a child, before the whole ordeal with his betrayer friend happen.
— hate aegyo and would immediately change channels when he sees someone does it in tv, but would readily do it for yoonjae #whipped.
— could drink up to fifteen cups of coffee in a day, depending on how stressed he is.
— he is actually not a rude person in general, but he could be rude to someone because he envy them. the example is to people who works in his house. whenever they show a sign that they have happy family or that they're more happy that daehwan, daehwan would immediately decide to be rude to them.

PART 03: ALL AROUND THE WORLD
FAMILY MAY OR MAY NOT BE A PAIN IN THE
FATHER choi jungcheol : 47 : ceo of a famous tech company : logical, workaholic, objective, ambitious, reserved : daehwan loves to describe his relationship with his father as a bussiness relationship, because he bet his father only sees him as the heir of his company, and not his son. he is half true, because his father indeed sees him as his heir, but his father actually cares about his only son, despite the fact that he never really shows it to anyone. his weird ways of showing love is by keep sending money to daehwan, and also by enrolling yoonjae to the same high school as daehwan, because at least he would have a friend in his school. jungcheol knows every little thing about daehwan through hoon (hoon gives jungcheol everything he knows about daehwan, except a few things daehwan told him to keep from his father). when hoon ask jungcheol on why he never shows any affection to daehwan or to at least greet him when they see each other instead of just giving him cold shoulder, jungcheol answer with a 'because i feel guilty towards him. i feel guilty that because of me, because of the company, he can't enjoy the youth as another kids around his age. i feel so guilty to the point it breaks my heart when i see many empty coffee packages in the trash bin because i know my son is the one who drinks it all because he is under a lot of stress, and i feel very guilty to the point that i couldn't look him in the eyes.'
MOTHER choi hyejin : 43 : top actress and model : persuasive, charismatic, competitive, perfectionist, vain : daehwan loves to describe his relationship with his mother as an on-screen relationship, because his mother would only treat him like he is her son when both of them are in her social events, where there are witness and cameras everywhere. outside of the social events, they never really interact with each other. it's not that she hates him, or doesn't sees him as her son. it's just she couldn't look at him without the pang of regret inside her heart, the regret of wasting his youth with her decision to marry soon, and also give birth soon. she doesn't regret having daehwan, but she regrets her decision to marry so soon, because she could have receive more acting gigs and build her popularity more (she is actually already popular, even after her hiatus, but humans are never satisfied), but instead she use all those times to bear a baby inside her belly for nine months, and could only go back to screen two years after. deep inside her heart, she actually loves daehwan as her son, but she couldn't get rid of the pang of regret inside her heart whenever she sees him.
2ND FATHER jung hoon : 50 : head of assistants in the choi's house : paternal, trustworthy, wise, worry-wart, selfless : hoon, the ex-personal assistant of daehwan and also ex-personal assistant of jungcheol. he has been living in the choi house since he was young, just like yoonjae. he is jungcheol's bestfriend, and the one who daehwan takes as his father figure because hoon is the one who takes care of him since he was a child. hoon loves daehwan just like he loves yoonjae, and he is the one daehwan depends on the most, and the one who has daehwan trust. daehwan might be a secretive person, but he always tell some of his problems and secrets to hoon, and his expressionless face is often decorated with smile and laugh whenever he is with hoon. hoon is the worker in his house that he respect the most,and also the one he genuinely loves the most.
+ hoon never mention about his wife in front of daehwan, but daehwan knows from yoonjae that hoon gets divorced with his wife a long time ago.
FRIENDS MAY OR MAY NOT BE A PAIN IN THE NECK
THE ONE AND ONLY jung yoonjae : 17 : student in seongnam high, daehwan's personal assistant : caring, outgoing, protective, stubborn, sensitive : yoonjae, the only one in the whole world that daehwan thought as a friend. he is the only one daehwan let to be close with him, the only one daehwan tells all his secrets and problems to. yoonjae is the friend daehwan really needs, with his way to calm daehwan down whenever he is down, his whole knowledge about daehwan that he even say that he knows daehwan more than daehwan know himself, and the fact that yoonjae is always there for daehwan whenever daehwan needs him. even when daehwan avoid him like he is some sort of plague a few years ago, yoonjae stays and wait for him, because he knows daehwan would come back, he just needs some time to be alone. and daehwan indeed come back. there are times when yoonjae would get mad at daehwan's insensitive and rude behaviour towards the maid, and that's when daehwan would beg him for his forgiveness, because daehwan couldn't fuction properly without yoonjae by his side. when daehwan usually won't bother about other people emotions, he would get very worried when yoonjae shows signs of annoyed, or mad, or sad. yoonjae is the only one who could make daehwan do silly things like doing aegyo, all in the attempt to cheer yoonjae up. yoonjae wish they could be bestfriend forever, just like his father and daehwan's father, because he knows he definitely couldn't wish for more.
FRIENDS NO MORE park seungjae : 17 : student in seongnam high : friendly, humorous, determined, blunt, impulsive : seungjae, daehwan's ex-friends that betray him back then in elementary school. ever since that thing happens, daehwan doesn't want to associate himself with seungjae anymore, and went as far as transferring school so he won't see seungjae, the betrayer, anymore. they only meet again in high school, as both of them went to seongnam high. daehwan is indifferent towards seungjae now, as he only seen him as a bad memory from his childhood, and most of his memories from childhood are bad anyway, so seungjae is no special. seungjae, who is actually feel guilty towards daehwan nearly jumps over to daehwan when he sees him in the entrance ceremony of seongnam high. since then, he tries really hard to reconcile with daehwan, to bring their relationship as close as before, but all of his attempt never works, all because daehwan won't even look at him, and the fact that there's this protective kid who never let seungjae to get near daehwan when he is around and stare at seungjae like he is some sort of dirty, lowly thing doesn't help either (cough yoonjae cough). but seungjae is not someone who easily give up, so he swears to try, just try and try and try again until he succeeds.
+ seungjae admits that at first he only becomes friend with daehwan because his parent told him so. but after become friends with him, he realize that daehwan is actually a cool kid to be around and he is happy to be friends with him. but well.
PERFECT MATCH yoo seunghee : 17 : student in seongnam high : extrovert, charming, loyal, untrusting, manipulative : the whole students of seongnam high often said that seunghee and daehwan would be a very beautiful couple if they ever date, and it's because of their visual and their status as one of the most famous teenager in seoul (in daehwan case, south korea). there are even people who legit ship them, those who get crazy everytime they see seunghee and daehwan interact with each other, even though the interactions between them is not much, because both of them are not in friendly terms, at least from daehwan side. when seunghee smiles and greets him when they meet in the hallway, daehwan would only nod his head, never bother to properly reply seunghee's friendly greeting.
