FASHION STYLE ☆  Soyeon's style is very casual, but despite that she wants to wear the prettiest dresses and intends to use The Selection to get to them. But before then, and when she leaves the castle, she wears very simple sun dresses all seasons except for winter. Oftentimes they are the cheapest dresses you can buy- She's trying to save up money for an operation for her hearing. She loved light colors, pastel or white. She was never one to pick the elaborate things as much as she loved them. Accessories were never present except for her mother's ring and bracelet, which she wears to this day. On days where it's cold, Soyeon tends to wear normal, cute clothing. She always wears cheap drugstore makeup, whether she's at home or somewhere else, it doesn't matter. She always has at least base and eyeliner, but most of the time she goes full-out with totally natural or colorful looks, it depends on how she feels that day. She's a total makeup expert, and could easily work as a makeup artist.

APPEARANCE ☆  Soyeon is well-known within her school for her mature yet sweet appearance. She's seen to be very beautiful, though she actually has many flaws. Her eyes are a common deep brown, which she finds very boring and wishes she had the money to buy colored contacts. The biggest problem with her eyes are that they aren't the same shape- One is more like a half-moon, while the other is a large almond shape. Because of this she always uses eyeliner to fix the problem. Her nose is fairly flat which bothers her a bit. Soyeon even has a burn scar on her arm that she normally covers with a bandana, though she's hoping that she'll be able to find something much less obvious to cover it once she joins The Selection. In all honesty it's very ugly, a raised white and pink mass of skin and she knows it. Soyeon sports C-cup s, larger than the average Korean girl, which is frankly annoying since they get in the way. She won't lie and say she's average weight, she's truthfully lost weight recently due to stress. Her hair is a natural medium brown, but she's highly considering dying it soon. One little-known fact about Soyeon is that she doesn't have any piercings, not even ear. She's too afraid too.

THE REAL ME

PERSONALITY ☆

(+) Intuitive, amiable, tolerant, responsible, empathetic, patient (=)  Maternal, athletic, emotional, loyal, spontaneous (-) Unconfident, careless, fearful, envious, unappreciative, submissive

"Take your time- Don't worry about it!" Soyeon was raised in a patient, loving home and thus she has picked up such traits. She truthfully will wait as long as you need her to if you're trying to say something you're scared to admit, or don't know just how to say it. She's the one others go to for help and advice, whether you're close to her or not because she'll hear you out and won't ever just leave you hanging. She allows people to take their time, even if this means waiting for a few hours for someone to get ready, or waiting all alone awkwardly at some sort of restaurant. She, without fail, will do this. It's quite the rare occasion that she snaps at somebody, because she knows a patient, helpful hand is the way to go in most cases. And if not, she knows when she should try a different method- Always. Soyeon's intuitive, just a few words and a couple fo glances and she knows exactly what kind of person you are. It's pointless trying to be fake around her, she can see right through. Soyeon, however, doesn't use this to her advantage- Only to help others. It's the kind of person she is, she can't use someone's personality or actions against them- Only to assist. She knows what kind of mood people are in at the sight of their facial expression, no matter how skilled they are with masks. It's a skill, one that very few people have. She should use it better.

"I can take care of it, just go already~" She  is very tolerant, hence her ability to be extremetly patient. She accepts everyone and anyone the way they are, and doesn't try to change them unless she knows they need help. She doesn't care about your gender, uality, caste, family, so long as you're you she'll accept you. Soyeon doesn't ask probing questions unless neccessary and is the type of person you instictively trust. She's very responsible when given a job of any kind. She knows when she needs to be serious and can execute the part of an adult well. She's that one girl in school who always has and always will turn in every single assignment, completely done with one hundred percent effort put into it. Soyeon's always has high grades and good comments due to this attitude. When she brought the chicks her 3rd grade class raised home, they came back in perfect health and cleaner than they had been when they left. Soyeon's also responsible at taking care of herself, and anyone else. After Kibum left, she was the one who had to babysit Jieun instead of being babysat. She took amazing care of her and had very few incidents. She now lives on her own and hasn't ended up in the hospital yet, which is always a good thing. She knows what she's doing.

"I understand, just let it out..." Soyeon's known to be very personable, very amiable. She has a very pleasant air about her and is equally kind to everyone she meets. She just feels kind when you meet her, it's her presence itself that calms you and makes you trust her. She's friendly, all smiles and makes you feel comfortable. It's quite the amazing ability, since nearly everyone falls into it. Soyeon is glad about this, because she really wants to befriend everyone so that wqay no one is left alone (She has a surpisingly pure heart). She is empathetic and can really understand almost anything that people go through, and she's very open about this. She isn't afraid to share her experiences and let people know they're ntot alone in their struggles. She's maternal, and draws everyone in with a warm, motherly aura. You want to spill your secrets to her, cry in her arms because you know she'll listen and take care of you. But Soyoen has a habit of benig very emotional, so don't be surprised if she starts crying along with you. While she can most often hold herself together in public, there are a few times where she can't, and she always let's it out at home.

"Let's play soccer! Please?" Despite her appearance, Soyeon is extremely in love with sports and physical activity. Seriously, it's her favorite thing to do. Sports are exhilarating and they make her feel good. It's an amazing feeling to be fit, in her mind. She's always encouraging others to be physically active as well. She's very loyal to those she finds herself caring for truly, but it takes work to earn her loyalty, so be prepared. Sure, she's nice to basically everyone, but there is only a select amount of people she's sworn herself to for life. But that's just it- She has honestly sworn her life to some people, whether they know it or not, and won't fail to follow them wherever they go. This makes her easy to manipulate if you're willing to put in the time to become important to her. She's very spontaneous, so she likes to do things on a whim, which can be a bit dangerous but she loves to go with the flow. She thrives on changes in her life, and it's quite interesting how her sudden ideas become an amazing reality.

"It's really impossible." However, even though she can do anything she puts her mind to, she doesn't think she can. Why? Because she thinks she's weird, different, a freak for going deaf. Obviously it's not normal so she feels left out and less important and talented than others. Soyeon truly has little confidence in the things she does. However, she's quite careless and is one to make whatever spontaneous remarks that come to mind. She often forgets who she's speaking to and simply speaks casually, she leaves things lying around and then panics when she can't find them later- It's very frustrating to watch, because the issue could be solved were she to keep herself in check more. Soyeon often finds herself taking what she has for granted, surprisingly. She's really unappreciative of many of the sacrifices her family has made for her because she doesn't want them to do those kinds of things. She doesn't feel they deserve thanks and gratitude for doing something she asked them not to for her take. She really doesn't care.

"Count yourself lucky." More than that, she's envious of everyone that has a happy family, good friends, and great life- She hates that she is, but Soyeon's always envious of others. She wishes to be in their shoes and living their life because it's surely much better than her's. She doesn't seem to realize that everyone has their own problems whether they show them or not. Soyeon's too scared to find out- She's fearful of a lot of people and things. A lot of cruel tricks and pranks have been played on her due to her disability so she'd much rather stay quiet than getting more people to do mean things. She's submissive and rarely shows her own opinions or thoughts in plain fear of being rejected. Soyeon doesn't fight back, it's simple as that, and because of this people do whatever they want to with her. It's hard to watch as someone who cares for her, because Soyeon truly let's herself get walked all  over.

my life story

BACKGROUND ☆

Song Soyeon was born born on a cold December night to ecstatic parents. Conceiving her had not been the easiest thing they had done, but it had happened and they carried a completely healthy baby to her delivery. Soyeon was very loved as a child, despite not a particularly large amount of money she was well-taken care of, never spoiled, but given many things. Her mother raised her to be intelligent- Of course she got to play with toys and all, but her mother made sure that she could already run at two years old, could do basic math by three, and knew how to cook by four, though her mom never let her do it by herself. Before Soyeon, however, there was another child- One from her father's previous marriage. He had been married to a woman named Kim Ahreum, and had a son named Kim Kibum. However, she had passed away and he ended up remarried to her mother. Kibum was a good older brother. Sure, he was depressed and many of his interests died with his mother, namely clothing since she had been a seamstress, but he never showed this to Soyeon and only let her see the good in his life. Soyeon's childhood was great, it really was. She was loved and smart and pretty and she couldn't have asked for more. When she was three, her mother had another baby- A baby sister for her. Jieun was the cutest thing ever. She was precious and adorable and Soyeon never wanted to let her go. Her mother could rarely get a  moment alone with the baby- In fact, that was Soyeon's first word. Baby. It was an endearing, loving family. However, there was something underlying, something so beneath the surface it took a deadly illness for it to finally rear it's ulgy head.

When Soyeon was ten, she and her mother both came down with what seemed to be a common cold or flu- No big deal, of course. But what was strange was that it was runninga very, very long course. By the time anyone truly thought of bringing them to the hospital, the true illness was already in it's later stages. Upon being seen by a doctor, Soyeon was diagnosed with Pneumonitis, as well as hemorrage in her right leg, in the calf. Her mother was too far gone, however, struck by myocarditis, which caused a sudden death before the doctors even examined her. Soyeon and her now-passed mother were diagnosed with Scrub typhus, and Soyeon was currently very likely to die. This terrified her family, because hadn't they lost enough already? Soyeon was hospitalized and put in quarrantine, where she was given Azithromycin to recover. The process was long, hard, but she was cured. However, there was an unexpected "side effect" when she recovered. Strangely enough, she was having trouble hearing out of her left ear. The doctors, however, said that is was likely from the lack of movement during her recovery time and not to worry., and thus they went home. A funeral was held for her mother, and life went on. But the hearing in her left ear got progessively worse. She suffered through having to ask to have things repeated, teased about being "dumb," and got in trouble repeatedly for "not listening" when in reality she just couldn't listen. Finally, they went back to the doctor's. After some intense testing, Soyeon was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder which would lie dormant until a near-death experience, which was a shock. What kind of disease was that?

The doctor explained it was unique to only a few families in Bangtan, but it still existed. It was a very recessive gene, and both her and her mother had both recessive genes while her father was a carrier- Kibum and Jieun were tested, and wer both carriers. It was extremely rare that a child with both recessive genes was born, as the disorder caused rated of infertiliy, miscarriage, and stillbirths by nintey percent. He then revealed at Soyeon's hearing loss was permenant and would only continue to get worse. There was nothing they could do for her left ear- It was a lost cause, but the right one could be saved with a highly specialized, highly expensive series of surgeries. He told her that without the surgeries, she's have maybe until twenty-two years old until she went entirely deaf. One ear would lose it's hearing fairly quickly, over the span of six to twelve months, but the second ear was known to take years to lose all hearing completely. Many legally deaf children and adults weren't entirely deaf and still had some sort of hearing. Soyeon, however, would no longer be able to hear a sound. It was a harsh blow. She was only eleven years old, how could this happen to her? To their family? By the time the school year ended, Soyeon couldn't hear out of her left ear and was learning Korean Sign Language since the surgeries truly seemed impossible. They tried out a hearing aid for her, but it was useless. When she got back to school, she was bullied mercilessly. Very few friends stuck by her side.

The only two that stuck by her side were Geun Subin and Lee Taemin. They had been her friends since elementary school, somehow always in the same classes. They were known at the three Musketeers, and they never left each other's sides. They were always doing their best to protect her from the bullies, but it was impossible to protect her from everyone, unfortunately. This bullying shot her confidence, it really did. For years she had a positive attitude and was sure of herself, but she had become more meek and withdrawn. When Soyeon was thirteen, Kibum made a huge desicion that left a scar on her, Jieun, and their father for life. He ran away, and no one could find him. It as like he'd vanished entirely, because there wasn't a single trace. It really hurt Soyeon, because she knew it automatically demoted him to the no caste section, and he'd had such a bright future. Shortly thereafter, Taemin confessed to her, a romantic confession. Truth was, she'd really liked him for a long time, and she agreed, happy to have something to distract her. They had an amazing relationship, until she reached seventeen. It was like they couldn't connect anymore. They were always fighting and making each other upset and being generally awful people to each other, which wasn't what they wanted- Not at all. For the good of both of them, Taemin said it would be best if they broke up. Soyeon couldn't help but agree, and they did, but stayed good friends along with Subin who could now proudly say that she wasn't the horribly awkward third wheel. Their bongs strengthened through this.

It was around this time that she started to notice more of a loss of her hearing in her right ear, though ever so slightly. Soyeon because to immerse herself in music as much as she could, the sound of her sleeping sister breathing in the bed across from her's at night, how it sounded when the wind blew in your ears and how it was to hear animals call. She began to savor every sound she could, because she knew that soon enough, she wouldn't be able to hear anything at all. They all had graduated high school by the time Soyeon was eighteen, and she and Subin were accepted into the same university as Taemin. Naturally they accepted and began classes, Soyeon studying psychology, Subin studying marine biology, and Taemin had been studying music theory, hoping to be a professional dancer one day. The three have been enjoying college life to the max, and Soyeon's father quit his job as a merchant to become the head chef at a fairly popular restaurant. Soyeon didn't work, only small odd jobs around town as she focused on studying. She really wanted to be a psychologist, it was her dream job, and she wanted to get money for the operations so she could complete that dream. When the news of The Selection began to circulate, she knew it was the perfect opportunity. If she won a prince's heart, she's win his bank and thus not only get her surgeries, but also ensure a good future for a family that she desperately wanted to build. Though all except Jieun were against it, Soyeon made her choice and applied to join The Selection, hoping to find a new future, a new life.

FAMILY ☆

Father, Song Jinho 49 Head chef Loving, hard-working, hurried, lonely Jinho has done his best to raise his children, and he's done a pretty alright job. He loves his daughters as much as he loves him son, and wishes he could have helped them all more when they were struggling. Truthfully, ever since he got his new job and since Soyoen's started college, they've distanced a bit. They simply can't meet as often due to their busy schedules, and he finds himsefl asking Jieun about her sister and how she was doing. It's painful, considering how close they used to be, but they both realize that it's just how life is. Jinho really doesn't want her to join The Selection, but he knows that she has the right to make choices for herself, even if he doesn't like it.
Younger sister, Song Jieun 17 Student Self-centered, busy, active, cheerful Jieun loves her older sister to death, I mean she really does. Soyeon did so much for Jieun growing up, taking the place of a mother after their's passed. It was hard on both of them but they persevered, and made it much farther in life than they expected. They know almost everything about each other, and Jieun is quick to call up Soyeon if she needs advice or help. She prefers to call Soyeon because she knows that her older sister wants to memorize her voice before she never hears again. Honestly, Jieun if terrified about the fact that her older is going to go deaf- She's not prepared for it, even though it's been years. Everything will change when it happens. She was thrilled that her sister even joined The Selection, becoming one of the Final Seven was amazing! (FC: Yerin of GFriend)
Older half-brother, Kim Kibum 24 None (Runaway) Warm, protective, unconfident, reckless Oh, Kibum. Kibum is a high source of sorrow in Soyeon's life. The product of her father's past marriage, he always felt a little different. Once his mother died, his love for clothing did as well and he became rebellious in many ways. His father remarried, and while he was happy for him, he wasn't thrilled at the age difference. Her, twenty-one and he, twenty-eight. It wasn't the strangest thing but it was hard for him. However, his step-mother, Hayoon, took good care of him and gave him two younger sisters that he adored. Even still, Kibum's struggled heightened when he felt as though his father loved them more- Not that he could blame him, Kibum loved them more than himself, too. When Kibum was sixteen, he was so pressured by school and taking care of his sibling while their father had a full-time job that he made a huge decision. Kibum decided to leave. After packing everything he found to be necesarry and guiltily taking a good amount of money from his father's emergency funds, he left and never looked back. He's been living on the streets since, floating between gangs and other groups of the homeless. It's not uncommon to find Soyeon looking for him, because she needs him back, she needs his support and his love and she misses him more than anything, even her mother. When he finds out she's in the Final Seven, he was disappointed that she even joined. That wasn't the life for her.

FRIENDS ☆

Best friend, Geun Subin 20 College student Reliable, confident, uncautious, vague See background Subin is Soyeon's very best friend, along with Taemin. They talk about ltierally everything, be it relationships, books, , makeup, it doesn't matter, they have a lot of conversations about everything. Subin and Soyeon know the deepest, darkest corners of each other and yet they still love and accept each other for who they are. Subin knows that there's a much brighter, happier Soyoen burried underneath years of ffear and pain, and believes that Soyeon will one day dig herself out and show everyone how amazing she truly is. Subin didn't want her to join The Selection, she was scared of how Soyeon would be treated. (FC: Hello Venus Yooyoung)
Best friend and ex, Lee Taemin 22 College graduate, looking for work Intelligent, adaptable, stubborn, patient See background Taemin loves Soyeon, he does. Honestly? He still has feelings for her, but knows they would only be burdensome for her, so he simply accepts that he will never be loved back and just wants to be there for her. He's very worried when she joins The Selection, because competition can make some girls pretty nasty. He was also scared of loing her entirely- If she fell in love and married a prince, would she leave him and Subin? Would she forget about him? Would the prince tell her to never talk to him again, and she'd listen? Even if she doesn't love him back, they've been friend since childhood and it's hard, seeing her leave. However, they're still very close, full of pet names and skinship. A prince may find himself jealous~
New friend, Choi Mari 21 Student Indecisive, modest, progressive, soft-hearted Mari and Soyeon met on day one of The Selection. They accidentally ran into each other, causing a huge embarassment since it was in front of everyone. However, Soyeon simply apologized with a smile and a hand to help her up. They seperated, and Soyeon heard talk of this mysterious Choi Mari. She realized they could relate over something- Mari was mute, Soyeon was going deaf, even though Mari's was selective, it was similar and she wanted to bond. Thus, she set out to befriend her. In the beginning, Mari and Soyeon were kinda of awkward with each other, but soon enough Mari found herself accepting Soyeon into her life. They have a very mother-daughter feel to them, Soyeon breaking out of her shell to protect Mari, spoiling her, etc. Really, Soyeon has to thank her for giving her a reason to go back to how she was. If something were to happen to her "precious daughter," Soyeon wouldn't be able to do much besides wallow in guilt for now being there, even if she couldn't have done anything. Soyeon literally spoils this girl to death, she can't help it, and Mari apppreciates it but feels a little suffocated sometimes. They were ecstatic to make it to the Final Seven together, Soyeon actually cried because her closest friend in the whole place would be there with her. It made all of the struggling, all of the hardships worth it.

OTHERS ☆

Rival, Kim Taeyeon 22 Student Hard-working, loyal, loud, stubborn Taeyeon and Soyeon met during The Selection, their rooms being right next to each other. Before Taeyeon realized where Taehyung's affection lied, she shared many-a pleasant conversations and greetings to the younger, though they never truly got close. They were like dorm-mates, really. While many girls focused on making themselves interesting to every prince, Taeyeon found herself focusing on only one- Taehyung. He was an enigma, and a challenge and she was ready to fight for him. However, he seemed to be pretty interested in Soyeon, and thus she declared Soyeon her rival. Soyeon accepted this and told her good luck. Since then, they "battled" for Taehyung's interest, but really it was just Taeyon trying her best to make him fall for her. After the Final Seven are selected and Taeyeon doesn't make it, Soyeon realized that Taeyeon had become somewhat of a friend and their rivalry had been fun. They because close friends after all is said and done.
Worst fear, Son Ahyoung 20 Princess Intelligent, cunning, deceptive, whiny Before the, ah, incident, Ahyoung and Soyeon had never met. Ahyoung had only heard of the oh-so-perfect, half-deaf and pity-grabbing Song Soyeon, and decided it was her business to ruin her life an dmake her so unappealing no pprince would chose her. Because of that, the first time they formally met was when Ahyoung "accidentally" spilled an entire cup of hot tea onto her. Ahyoung was decidedly going to be Hell on Earth for Soyeon. Everyone knows the stereotypical, deceptively cute but really a total princess. Yeah, that's Ahyoung and she takes pride in it. She hates Soyeon so, so much and wanted her out of the way. What is they became sister-in-laws because a prince fell for both of them?! Disgusting! So she had to be gotten rid of. She was the biggest , abusing her power and abusing Soyeon for her "disability." Soyeon, being who she is, ever stood up for herself. She's still terrified of Ahyoung, and honeslty always will be. Too many bad things happened to not.

Princess For The Alien

Life is Nothing Without Getting Knocked Down a Few Times. works.

tumblr_n8yphhk4Sz1rufh5do3_500.giftumblr_m8qtj7icBy1r3ttobo1_500.gif

Reason for joining the selection ☆  I need to have an operation done, it could possibly save my hearing, and I can't that that opportunity pass, you know? Not to be brutally honest but I needed money to get it done. This was a perfect opporunity to not only get money, but to ensure a future for the family I want to create. Of course I'm doing this for my own benefit- Who isn't in this competition? We all want something, be it money, status, something important to us, it doesn't matter what it is but our ambitions to reach our goal is why we're here, not one candidate can deny that ever if they'd like to. It would be nice to fall in love, of course, but that isn't the point here, now is it? The princes will chose whoever catches their eye, they will get married, the girl reaches their goal. Oh! I'm rambling, I'm sorry, it's just, this topic gets me worked up. *Charming smile*

life as a selection candidate   ☆  The palace was huge! I mean, I expected it to be, but it was so beautiful, it was just so beautiful. I loved it immediately, I still do, and the staff were so amazing to me- Probably because I treated them like humans. Of course there was one here or there that didn't like me, but you can't be liked by everyone so~ Overall most of the Candidates didn't like me because they figured I was either lying about my hearing or was going to use it for pity to get my farther. There were a lot of cruel tricks and things they did, but I had my few friends and the staff, so I was happy, I really was! They royal family was kind, if invasive at times. They asked a lot of questions about my family, which were hard for me to answer considering everything. I couldn't tell them my brother was a runaway, and it was hard to talk about my mom and getting sick since that was the worst time in my life. Prince Namjoon, though, he always made sure to divert these kind of conversations way from me, which I was really grateful for. I owe him a lot for that. He really is good at handling difficult situations. *Laugh* Just like I hear. So I was pretty close with him, and Prince Jimin- I knew better than that playboy demeanor. The three of us all got pretty close, actually. Life at the palace was pretty great. I could wake up as early as I wanted and could listen to absolutely anything, I got to eat yummy food and I could finally wear all of those pretty dresses I'd only dreamed of. I got to meet a lot of new people, so I'm very grateful to have had that opportunity. *Bows*

life as part of the final seven ☆  Wow. Just....Wow. I was that much closer to my goal, I was that much closer to being able to hear for the rest of my life. Truthfully by that time my hearing had really started to reach it's downward slope in my right ear. I really, truly needed those operations, and fast, and now they wewre basically guaranteed. I was so happy I cried. *Laugh* I found some fear, though, the Final Seven were easy assasination targets and, well, that meant I was an easy target. It was a very pessimistic way of thinking, but I really was scared. Once you get involved with royals, you put a target on your back for life- I think that's part of why no one wanted me to go. All that, though? I could put behind me. What hurt was that Namjoon, he began to distance himself from me and I don't know why. It's sad, to be losing a friend, you know? *Troubled sigh* And honestly, within the people only the Fourth Caste and lower liked me, the higher casts thought just what the other candidates did- I used pity to get there. It was hard, it was, just so long as I had a chance to reach my goal, I could deal with it. Love was the furthest thing from my mind, I didn't even think about it until...

PERSONALITY ☆  Prince Taehyung really isn't given as much credit as is due for him. Though he may seem like an insane idiot most of the time, he's actually really smart and has a lot of good ideas. He's 90% idiot and 10% genius, some say, but really it's more around sixty/forty. His unique behavior often seems fake, like no one could really act like the way he does, but it's all real. However, beneath all his craziness is a very kind and loving soul. He has dreams of meeting and marrying his first love, he has a motto of living life cooly to the maximum, Taehyung just sees the world differently than the ordinary person. He's really, really happy, and that's why he can say and do all of the weird things he does. People think he's just vying for attention, but it's who he really is. Taehyung's personality is one that's hard to explain. He's cheerful and loves to play around- He's innocent. Taehyung's very into details and is the kind to ask before he does something, but overall doesn't care what others think, so he says what he does and wants truthfully. However, because of this truthfulness to him, Taehyung openly speaks against the Caste system and what it stands for. He's the kind that can get jealous to a point but not enough to make you uncomfortable, just protected.

Taehyung simply uses the right side of his brain, rarely the left so he's considered weird. This is untrue- He has a big imagination. He's very loyal and a good listener, and you don't have to worry about him judging you- That's not his style. He really loves his family and would do absolutely anything for them, even if they don't understand him. The biggest thing about Taehyung is that he's whimsical, he lives and loves to follow his dreams. If he wants to get an ice cream sundae in the middle of a snowstorm, he wants it to become a reality. He's extroverted, however to a point where he has a hard time differentiating who is good and who is bad. He's certainly eccentric to an extreme and unconvential beyond charm, but that's what he likes about himself. It does get him into a lot of trouble, of course. When he does things like climb down ropes to get to places and doesn't wear shoes during formal events, it causes a lot of trouble for people. That has to be the biggest downside of such a free personality- He accidentally causes a lot of trouble for others. He's stubborn and sticks with his ideals to a point of insulting others.

RELATIONSHIP ☆  To be entirely honest, they just seemed to be good friends, and they really were. They were almost always together, because they got very close after he chose her. She constantly would thank him for giving her such an opportunity, and really romance was out of the question for her. She'd take him on "friend dates," and they coulld be found kicking the cooks out for the hour so they could cook together. They often go to the princess tower, not the gardens or libraries like everyone else. No, they likes to take turns being the damsel in distress. They act like children together, because Soyeon can finally find her old self again, the one she hadn't been since she was a child. It was amazing to her, but that whole activity was entirely secret between them. People assumed they would go there to have or whatever, but it was all just fun and games. They're very loyal friends, until Taehyung confesses that he really, really likes her. Like, love like. Soeon was pailfully surprised and asked if she could be alone for the rest of the day. He gave her that, but was terrified he ruined everything with her, that they couldn't even be friends and their lives would basically from then on. However the next morning she shyly said she'd like to give it a try. After that, they act much more like a coupe, a very innocent couple, holding hands and kissing cheeks and cuddling and feeding pigeons in autumn, just like Taehyung dreamed of. The biggest surprise is that Soyeon seems to understand his Alien Language, when really she's just undestanding his facial expressions. They take a lot of selcas together.

HISTORY ☆  Taehyung and Soyeon first met when Ahyoung first spilled tea all over her. They had briefly greeted each other before and Taehyung had a clear interest in her thanks to everything he'd heard about her- An open but lowkey personality, going deaf, highly protective over that 8th Caste girl, he was fascinated, and found his opportuniy to have a conversation with her when burning hot tea got poured all over her. He escorted her to the infirmary, and the thanked him profusely, giving him a charming smile despite the fact that she hurt. It was actually very awkward and made Taehyung wish he'd never volunteered to take her and vowed to never be alone with her again, instead choosing to only see her when others were with her. He treated her with respect, and some more firiendliness were it only him, her, and other princes or some of her friends. He had a surprisingly hard time being around her, and had a much easier time flirting with Taeyeon instead, who seemed to be very interested in him whereas Soyeon seemed to treat everyon the way she was treating him. Honestly, it was only Taeyeon that he seemed to pay attention to, making her to be his obvious choice. He was actually very close to picking her, until he had a late-night conversation with both Soyeon and Taeyeon seperately just days before the choices had to be made.

"Prince Taehyung! You surprised me," Soyeon placed a hand over her heart, laughing a bit as she continued folding her outfit for the next day, "Can I ask what brings you here so late at night? People might get the wrong idea."

"I just, I wasnted to talk to you about something. Do you mind?" He asked, indicating towards a chair that was near her bed. She shook her head and smiled, motioning for him to continue, "Why did you join The Selection? You don't seem like the kind of person to put yourself in this kind of poisonous environment. So why?"

"Do you want me to be honest with you or give you a nice answer?" She asked, biting her upper lip harshly.

"The honest one, duh."

"You know my hearing is getting pretty bad. I'm already totally deaf in the left ear, my right one will get there soon enough. But I want to hear. I really want to hear, but I need money for a lot of operations. Not only that, but I wanted to give my future family a comfortable-enough life. So I figured this was the best way. But I have to say the biggest part was for my hearing. I know, it's pretty selfish, right? But that's the truth you wanted to hear. Anyway, I have to get ready for bed, so could you go?" Taehyung laughed a bit in shock at her casual manner but nodded, standing up as he bit his own lip.

"Thanks, Soyeon-ah, for being honest."

And then he walked right next door to Taeyeon's room.

"Taeyeon-ah, I'm coming in," Taehyung said, kocking lightly before letting himself in. Said bonde was sitting in the middle of her bed, smiling up at him prettily before focusing her attenton back on her nails, which she was painting a pretty pale blue.

"Taehyung-ah, what's up?" She tilted her head to motion for him to sit on the chest at the end of the bed.

"Why did you join The Selection? Be honest," Taeyeon seemed a bit off-put, but nodded to herself as she spoke.

"I joined for a future full of love. You probably don't remember, but there was a time that you walked through my town when we were kids, and there was huge celebration. You met my eyes and I fell in love. So when The Selection came along I knew it was my chance to meet my love again."

Taehyung can't say why, really. Why it was that Soyeon's answer struck more of a chord with him that Taeyeon. He remembered her, too, because he remembered her beautiful eyes. But somehow, Soyeon had been his true first love, even though he'd held onto Taeyeon's eyes since childhood. It was a hard cohoice to make, but he knew that Soyeon, in the end would be much more of an adventure that Taeyeon, who seemed content with the "normal" life she was leading. Taehyung wanted adventure, and he knew he could find it more in Soyeon than he ever could in Taeyeon.

their ending ☆  Taehyung proposes to her about a year after she accepts him as her boyfriend. They were playing another round of "Damsel In Distress" when he realized that, yeah, she really was the one he wanted to spend his whole life with. He'd been debating for weeks if he was ready, a box in his pocket, but now he really knew, as he sat her sit up, whole body shaking with laughter as her beautiful smile shone that she really was the one. He hurriedly asked her to stay where she was and ran to Seokjin, asking for him to please get what he'd talked about earlier ready. Seokjin was vaguely surprised but agreed as Taehyung then ran to his room, some roses out of a vase. He ran back, all sweaty and tired and flushed, and Soyeon was pretty worried for him. Taehyung couldn't help but laugh at his stupidity, and she laughed along with him for a good few minutes before he beecame serious again. He laid the roses down on a table before handing her one, and taking one himself. Handing her one, taking one himself, repeatedly until there was only one left. Taehyung took Soyeon's hand in his own, and they grabbed the rose together. With his free hand, Taehyung took out a small, black velvet box and opened it, revealing a very simple, white gold ring. Tears began to well in in her eyes and he said these few words, "Let's start a complicated future together, okay? Will you marry me?" She began to sob, agreeing over and over. Taehyung himself began to cry, slipping the ring on and hugging her tightly. She asked where his band was, and he reached into his pocket to pull out a small, plain thin ring. She took it, smiling when he started complaining, before slipping it into his finger. She kissed the corner of his mouth and whispered, "I love you. Thank you, for giving me a future." When they made it back to the main castle, they were greeted with hugs and tears and congratulations and a meal of Soyeon's favorite foods.

They were married six months later, two weeks before her first operation. Truthfully Soyeon had to cover her right ear with layers of cloth to protect it from damage, so she barely heard a thing, but Taehyung promised for their fifth-year anniversary they would renew their vows and have another wedding. Why five years? Because her series of operations would be done by then. A year after their marriage, they had their first child, a son. Soyeon's last surgery had been to start restructure her ear to make way for a new system that would be implanted, but due to her pregnancy they had to take a break, leaving her right ear totally blocked, so she didn't hear their son cry. It was hard, but they did it and finally, two daughters later, Soyeon's right ear was able to fully hear, and she had an amazing family that she loved more than anything. She had reached both of her goals, and fallen in love with the most whimsical, amazing person she'd never even dreamed of. Of course they had their fights, but love did prevail.
