What is this? Did you know that AFF is celebrating its 7th year of being up and running? Every year we have thought of ways to commemorate this special date by doing various activities.
With that being said, this year we have decided to make it all about you with these 45 questions, interview with yourself, survey, quiz—whichever you wanted to call it haha.
Why are we doing 45 Questions? Because... it's fun. Don't question.

1. Why was Asianfanfics created?
I think it was like growing interest in kpop or something? I want to say there's a girlfriend in the mix too but I really can't remember orz.
2. What is the exact date of AFF's anniversary?
I want to sayyy mid-March? Maybe like the 20th? I have no idea why that sticks out but here we are.
3. Our admin, Jason, wrote a fanfic: Zero Day Diaries. Which kpop artists are featured in this fic?
Shinhwa? Since they debuted a loooong time ago? Or H.O.T. I'm so thinking Reply 1997 LOL.
4. How long have you been on AFF for?
It'll be four years this August!
5. What color was AFF's layout when you joined?
Green (which I still keep. I get confused when it defaults to blue, bc it reminds me of roleplayrepublic)
6. How did you find AFF?
I think it was when I first started to really get into Korean variety shows. I remember watching Oh My School with a passion and adoring Min, Hongki, and Simon D, and wanting to see more happy friendship things with them, and then AFF popped up in the results. I didn't really read anything though, until I discovered f(x)'s Amber because of Min, and then I (very guiltily) stayed up for hours reading fics (which isn't exactly new, but it was the first time I discovered kpop fics and it was like a brand new world).
7. How did you end up becoming a member? What made you want to become a member?
Not going to lie, I was a lurker for a good few months before I decided to make an account. I think I read a really good fic and wanted to write a review (for once in my life) so I made an account. I also remember really wanting to write a fic of my own (my first foray into the fanfiction writing world was with a kpop fic actually) so I signed up. But I never verified my email until a few weeks ago because I didn't even know you could do that.
EDIT: OKAY I'M A DIRTY LIAR. After answering #11, I realized that I made an account at the encouragement of r4nd0mw1erd0, who was also the first person to see my username and told me to go for it LOL.

Dang, I really don't remember. I'm like 99% sure it was an Amber fic but I can't remember the title, the author, or what it was even about oops.

Also r4nd0mw1erd0, who I haven't talked to for like two years maybe? She deactivated everything for a while and we haven't talked since (I still miss her tho xc).

Ahhhh haha. Sighs. I have 35 fics, but I think like three or four are in draft mode or marked as unlisted? Only 12 are completed oops.

Honestly, lurk LOL. It's mainly looking for good fics to read, and when in the mood, attempting to code lol.
19. How do you spend most of your karma points?
I've donated almost all to friends to help them get the advertising thing. I've given some people karma to get them started on the site so they could like upvote (and now, buy layouts) if they want.
20. How would you like to spend you karma points? (E.g. Kpop merchandise.)
YO, I would be hella down to spend them on kpop merch (the life of a poor college student who wants too many nice things). I don't really use karma so I don't really have any useful suggestions, I'm sorry orz
21. Have you ever uploaded a video in the video gallery?
Nopeee. I've seen a few videos in the video gallery, but I don't make trailers or whatever so the video gallery isn't sometime I use?
22. Have you entered the chatroom? How was it like for you?
Nope LOL. The rapid influx of messages terrified (and continue to terrify, if I'm perfectly honestly) me. I don't do well with socializing at all orz.
23. What is your favourite feature of AFF?
The tag filter and the excluding tags - both have saved me so much.
24. What is your least favourite feature of AFF? How can it be improved to make it better?
I want to say the advertising system? I haven't used it, and I don't plan to, but I've had friends try to use it. You need an insane amount of karma, time, and patience for it, from what I could tell when I tried to understand how to use it. From what I can remember, it's a bit of a bidding system? So if your internet cuts out (unfortunate, if you live in an area with terrible signal) or something else happens, you're kind of screwed. And there are people who wait for the last second to add a ton of karma points to their bid. Which, granted, is clever, but I feel it's a bit unfair to authors who deserve the advertisement, but because of lack of karma points, they're unable to get a spot(?). I'm not offering a solution at all oops. But I think it'd be helpful to make the system easier to understand.
25. If you could introduce just one feature on AFF, what would it be and why?
Um, this is asking about an already existing feature, right? If not...welp. I think I'd have to say the labels tab actually. I used to not care about it and thought it didn't have much use, all the way up until I subbed to too many stories to keep track up. It's so great. You can sort your stories or your subbed stories, making it easier to access fics (e.g. coding threads, tutorials, graphic shops, fave stories, etc.)
26. If you could customize the way AFF appears to you, what color would it be? You could just pick one color or a palette.
This probably isn't really appealing to anyone else, but I like this palette.

27. Who is/are your best friend(s) on AFF?
Omg, there are too many to list?? There's jongupper (keeks), nuggetssssss (my precious), -Tigress- (the writing senpai), wishful (who goes by another name now but i can't rem it), antkai (is that even your username anymore), tipper (i just straight up forgot yours oops), and there's also frizz and becky and honestly so many people i can't list everyone or we'd be here for a loooong while .
28. Who are the users you want to get to know better?
AnneOnym and MamaShrimp, both of whom I've only talked to once because I commented on one of their stories.
29. Are you grateful/owe something to someone on AFF? Who and why?
Um, I think I'll be forever grateful to Ammie and Jessica and just the whole group of people who were really nice and encouraged me to write when I first started out on the site. Without them, I don't think I'd improve my writing (even if it's only a little), and I think I'll always remember how kind they were/are to me..
30. Who are your AFF inspirations?
So many omg where do I even begin. -Tigress-, Keeks, Nuggetssss, AnneOnym, limeelf, FrostMaiden, and so many others. Also all those amazing coders who create all those beautiful layouts and the occasional tutorial for the people. Y'all amazing at what you do, regardless of whether it's writing, making graphics, coding, or most/all of the above..
31. If you could put a star on any of your fics/threads, which one would you pick?
Umm, I don't think anything I've created is worthy LOL. Maybe my layout thread (wannabe). Probably the one thing I created that I'm most proud of (never mind it's only got 3 chapters and I'm planning to revamp it yet again lol). I feel like my stories aren't good enough to put a star on yet, but I have several wips that I'd consider (if they ever get finished lol).
32. What is/are your all time favourite storie(s)/thread(s)?
I'm going to go for the threads since there are too many good stories to pick from. I love CYPHER layouts, EDELWEISS themes, and THE BAT SHOP. They all have such beautiful and creative layouts, especially the last one, which I definitely recommend if you're a fan of Batman. So creative and amazingly thought out. Unf.
33. Who is/are your all time favourite author/s?
MmmMMM this is hard, since I like so many genres and bands, and I haven't actually had time to read fics recently. I do admire -Tigress-, AsianFae, scarscar, and doll_head a lot.
34. If you could put a star on another user's fics/threads, which one would you pick?
This is an even harder question OTL. I don't think they're up anymore, but any of scarscar's works. Oh, or wishful. Both are such amazing and talented writers who just have this amazing way with words.
35. If you could have any username you want, what would that be? (Did someone already take the username you wanted?)
Honestly, I like my username as it is because it's such a huge part of who I am on AFF, but I'd also like to change it to something that reflects how I've grown as a person throughout my time on AFF. One day, I'll think of something suitable, but today is not the day orz.
36. If you would write a fanfic about your life in AFF, what would the title be?
101 Ways to Approach Life Without a Plan (And Still Succeed). And it'd literally just be short little pieces of advice and my own experiences (still working on the succeed part tho......)
37. What was the weirdest thing you encountered on the site?
Honestly, probably the random Korean words and being referred to with a Korean honorific. I'm pretty neutral towards it, but it was just a bit odd in the beginning haha.
38. What was the best thing that has happened to you on the site?
Probably all the friends I've made, and everyone who continues to support me, on the site and when I'm dealing with real life issues. I've received nothing but love and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
39. Have your interests changed on AFF? If yes, in what way? (Eg. Change of OTP, bias group, AFF activity.)
I think my AFF activity's dipped a bit here and there but I don't think my OTPs or bias groups really changed? If anything, I just add to my lists because I love everyone and everything, like how do you even choose only one person or group to like??
40. There are many communities now on AFF (such as the writing, designing, coding, applyfic, roleplay, reader communities). Is there a community that you aren't part of but want to try one time?
I've tried so many of these without that much of a success lol. The one thing I haven't really tried is the applyfic thing? I never really understood the concept so I never really got into, but I think it'd be interesting to try (if y'all have some recs, send them this way!). I think I also want to pick up designing/graphic making again and see if I can make something that's not aesthetically displeasing haha.
41. What is the best thing AFF or being a member of AFF taught you?
Hm. Maybe that there are some (fan) communities (if that even makes sense??) to avoid because they're a dark, dark place.
42. What is your greatest contribution to the site so far?
Probably nothing LOL. I'm an average writer and barely there coder, with horrendous puns and references. Basically - I'm pretty much just here along for the ride without really giving much OTL.
43. What are your current AFF goals?
To finish at least two fics I've started before, and to become an even better writer and coder.
44. If the AFF community decides to do a get-together, how should we spend it and where?
Omg, that would be so awesome! What place could possibly fit so many of us though? It'd be nice if it was somewhere with yummy food and coffee/tea and we could all just chill and talk and hang out. Like a super sized cafe patio or something LOL.

I guess I just want to say thank you so much for creating this site.I've made so many amazing friends and got to meet all these talented people. AFF's helped me through some of my darkest times, and it still continues to do that, and I'm just so grateful. (It really helps that Taeyeon's "I" is playing right now, what a fitting way to end this blog omg). Anyways, congrats on the 7 years!

Omg, that would be so awesome! What place could possibly fit so many of us though? It'd be nice if it was somewhere with yummy food and coffee/tea and we could all just chill and talk and hang out. Like a super sized cafe patio or something LOL.

I guess I just want to say thank you so much for creating this site.I've made so many amazing friends and got to meet all these talented people. AFF's helped me through some of my darkest times, and it still continues to do that, and I'm just so grateful. (It really helps that Taeyeon's "I" is playing right now, what a fitting way to end this blog omg). Anyways, congrats on the 7 years!
