when they were young, byulie thought that jinwoong would hate her since her personality changed drastically. no matter how exuberant she was or how aloof she’s now, he did love her as a friend. she always wonder why he always said it’s fine whenever she burrowed his toy cars and lose them. whilst growing up, she honestly developed feelings for him. at age 9, she remembered how she proposed him with an onion ring and he accepted, but thought that she was just being silly. knowing that he doesn’t feel the same way, there was moment where byulie never spent her time with jinwoong, during his injury, byulie was quite shocked about hearing it and thought that he was about to die so she came back to him and promised him that she’ll never leave him again. after all, they’ve gotten better.

byulie entered her english tuition class with her hands slipped in the pockets of her leather jacket, letting the sweet taste of her new bubble gum in melt. it was her first day of her new level. the music from her headphones could be heard from other people. haneul’s jaw dropped once he stared at byulie and thought that there was a halo above her head that he could the angels sing when he made an eyecontact with byulie. haneul’s lips twitched to a broad smile, but hers were curved to a little smirk and she immediately took her usual seat that is in the corner of the class. haneul quietly scooted beside byulie’s seat, but she didn’t even realize that he was. she rested her headphones on her shoulders as the teacher entered the class.
she opened her backpack and curses under her breath. “did jaewoong stole my pencil case again?” she furrowed her eyebrows, running her fingers through her hair. she turned her head to haneul’s back, clearing to catch his attention which did. “um. do you have anything that i could write with? pencil or pen.” she tipped her head to the side.
haneul stopped breathing at the moment byulie spoke, his eyelashes batting once he jumped back to real life. “y-yeah.” his hand extends to the back, eyes still locked with byulie’s and he reaches out a pen that his friend’s was using. “here.” he handed out the little thing, offering a cordial smile. she takes the pen and her thumb brushed softly against his which made them feel electrified at the rare touch. “thanks.” she responded.
byulie leaned her back on the wall. she then released a groan in annoyance once she knows that no one will pick her up from her tuition centre. she rolled her eyes and put her phone in her pocket, standing properly and beginning to walk on her feet.
“yo, gum girl!” haneul called out while pressing the steering wheel of his car, letting out a loud honk that made byulie pause and turn her head to him.
“what does he want?” she whispered softly and continued to walk, but he kept following which made her stop and curse softly in annoyance.
“do you need a ride? it’s dangerous for a gorgeous girl to walk alone at night.” he offered with a jovial beam playing on his lips.
“no, thanks. im not a gorgeous girl so you don’t have to worry.” she gave him a stiff smile.
“you sure are stubborn. get in, my lady.” he extended his arm and opened the door for her.
“your lady?” she furrowed her eyebrows then snorted. “i’m sorry, but my parents don’t allow me to hang out with strangers.”
“well, im your classmate here and we go to the same school so get in.” he patted the empty seat next to him and she couldn’t help, but take the seat since one, it’s tiring to walk and two, she had no money. she closed the door and put her seatbelt on. “see! it’s not that hard to accept a one time offer, gum girl.” he cracked to a radiant simper.
“stop calling me gum girl. i do have a name.” she pursues her lips and takes a glance by the window.
“oh. i forget your name so can i call you mine?” a cheeky smile was plastered on his face.
“call me that and i’ll ing get off this car.” she sent him a glare.
on her first day of her part-time job, byulie was quite shocked that she had to work with wang haneul whose parents own the cafe that they worked on. they were like ‘work rivals’. they would bet on who satisfied many customers, did the cleaning or throwing the garbage, stack more cups, etc.
at school, byulie and haneul only shares art and math class. he would walk her to her classes every time. he also make sure that she’s been eating her lunch every break time. at first, byulie was really bothered by haneul’s presence, but as time flies, she got used to his toothy smile that she gets to see every morning and she began to appreciate him.
“oy, cheeseball. don’t forget to eat your dinner and get some rest. make sure you don’t fall sick, idiot. let’s not mention i really hate you so don’t even think of me giving you a kiss of goodnight or those kind of .”
byulie never thought of liking him in the first place. she thought it was hate at first sight. she was really annoyed by his corniness and by then, she started to hate him when he begins to breath. she was surprised that he never gave up on her even though she mistreat him.
one day, she unknowingly felt butterflies in her stomach whenever he gave her his signature cheeky grin, her heart beats in a quick pace whenever he moves, and she can’t help, but blush at his cheesy pick-up lines and of course, she would always hide her precious cheeks.
she’s honestly an idiot when it comes to love so she always manage to hide her true feelings for him since she thought she would break his heart into pieces.

love at first sight, haneul thought. he thought that his whole life was blessed when byulie entered the class that day. she took his breath away with her beauty and his intelligence made him fall for her more. he was honestly curious behind that resting face. he always believed that she was just an angel disguised as a devil. once, he made a portrait of byulie as a birthday present and she hung it in her room. he also lend his hand whenever byulie needs to cross the street. he was like her daily vitamin pill that she would never eat.
he confessed his feelings three times, and he got rejected those times. he's still in the process on trying to prove that he loves her sincerely.
sure, he’s a major playboy and hits up on every girl, but when she came to his life, he only had eyes for her. even though people thinks that it’s just a one-sided love, haneul felt that byulie have feelings for him.
isn’t it obvious that jinwoong drag me into this? she raises an eyebrow then turns to jinwoong, sending him a glare. he always blabbers about making up a squad that would be like detectives and i knew he would create the club, but i didn’t know that people would join that kid. she lifts her shoulders to a shrug then hears a yell from the male. hey! im not a kid and im older than you by about two months! she rolls her eyes. we all know that you have a 3 year old soul that is stuck on that body.

when i heard about the club’s name, i thought yes, it’s time for me to shine since it would be lovely to murder someone. she nods her head slowly with eyebrows furrowed. but then jinwoong told me that it’s actually the detectives squad that he’s been talking about it and i think it’s better than murdering people since i like mystery cases. plus i get to watch my poppet and remind everyone that no one gets to hurt her. she breaks to a subtle smile towards jaewon and gestured the female with heart arms.

it’s pretty obvious that i’ll be the brain of the squad since jinwoong is a bit a pain in the . she scrunches her nose. plus i can lure anyone and catch information so.. she drums her fingers against her lap.
