Fly

super conflicted over fly... just what direction is GOT7 headed in? its not like JYPE can't write bops because 2pm had some absolute bangers, it's just this general disconnect musically with a lot of their artists, but especially got7.

hurts me deep because the problem doesnt just lie with the company... i love the kids with all my heart but there's a reason Mark doesn't speak and Jackson says he's not a rapper............... Yugyeom did a good in' job on the title track though because the kid can't do much of anything other than dance (lbr he can't sing i don't know what his role is within the group)

JB's intro made me physically uncomfortable and i realised i've been blinded by how daddy he is cos son his tone is just weird even in mad he's so shaky and inflexible. Bambam just sails on through i guess, junior just makes me feel warm and youngjae is a GIFT and we all need to appreciate just how important he really is because got7 are really GOT1 with 6 backup dancers

the actual album is fire compared to their others though because theyre actually listenable... I think the only decent track on MAD was good tonight. on that note though, all of the tracks have the same beat and rather than joining the album together it just makes it repetitive, mainly because the beat is tinny and ty and the songs go NOWHERE, theres barely any rise and fall or or tbh an END... the music just stops and goes onto the next song...

It hurts because If You Do was such a breakthrough (and underappreciated at that) and fly just falls flat, contrary to its title. what genre of music were they going for? house? trap? it's so disjointed. a whole minute and a half of dance before we get the beautiful shots of them (you cant even see their faces in the dance shots, why didnt they make a seperate dance version mv? the way the dance is shot is BEAUTIFUL but it doesnt work with the latter half of the mv AT ALL)

The odd thing is as soon as the dancing ends and we get to Jinyoung's acting, I start enjoying the song because the pacing WORKS - the part where Jinyoung is falling and the rest of them fly while he doesn't and the music picks up is SO GOOD - it's such a waste.

I feel like they were going for a BTS-esque style here, which is a shame. BTS work because they have such a huge involvement in the production of their music and actual TALENT pouring out from every crevice (three rappers who can spit fire and a main vocal who can offer some decent bars too, and vocals that'll make you weep. Jin's probably the only letdown in the group and even he aint that bad.)

basically im upset because the concept was 10/10 but everything went wrong

lets hope home run is fire
