PETITION: return the weekly featured fics

This has been stuck on my mind for YEARS now ever since the creator of this site has changed the weekly featured fanfictions to daily featured fanfics. And I honestly do think that it wasn't the best feature out there. Although there are many fics here on Asianfanfics, it is really hard to find good old gems and fics being featured aren't as good as before, because this site is running out of actual good fics to be featured. I'm not saying that all featured fics aren't good anymore, but a lot aren't that... good, for the lack of any better word to describe the rest of the featured fics in general (lol). And maybe this is also another reason to why maybe this site doesn't have a very good reputation to other fans, who prefer LiveJournal or Wattpad.

The reason why I actually want this petition is because I do believe that the fanfic to be featured deserves to be up on the site for a week, not for a DAY, as well as shown being worthy to be featured from other fanfictions. When given the daily featured, it lessens the unspoken battle with other potentially featured fics, and I feel like the feature has lessened its value as well. I don't seem to pay any attention towards the featured fic anymore and the 'FEATURED' symbol has slowly lost its meaning to me. With fics being featured on a daily basis, and mostly are chaptered, readers can't read them all in one day and read the new featured, the next (Though, yes, I know that not all readers do this). Being featured for a week also significantly increases the self-satisfaction rate and achievement of the author, like c'mon. If your fic got featured for an entire week, you'd feel soo proud because out of ALL fics, it was yours that was displayed on the main page of this site.  Despite never having a fic featured before, I can empathize. Besides, I bet you that you've once looked at a fanfic and saw it's FEATURED symbol but thought it was still not worthy of a read. We've ALL done it once and we've been doing it more frequently as more fanfics are being featured.

I'll be posting a poll down here for you to vote, to which one you prefer. Please share this and make a blogpost, using the same link of the poll to increase its votes. Comment down your opinions of this matter, because I'd also like to see and know If I'm the only one who has this opinion in mind. I am not only doing this for the sake of being curious of how many people are sharing the same idea I have, but as well as actually trying to create a valid point towards the people here on AFF. Sending a message/wallpost to nichiren (creator of AFF) about my own opinion of this matter simply won't convince the guy, and I get that. (He'd probably take it as a complaint and wait for other users to message him about it before he actually does something about it. He's a busy guy too. so yeah, I believe presenting him this poll would help fasten the process of being able to change it back) That's why I want to create a poll to know that majority back up my suggestion of having the original feature back before showing this poll as proof to the creator of AFF.

UPDATE: I know that there's a lot of new people here on AFF, more new users than old ones who've many left because of lost interest in Asianfanfics or KPOP in general (or died of old age. jk. i mean grew older and moved on). So many probably didn't reach the old feature when fanfictions used to be featured once a week. when there weren't many fanfictions and when this site was still pretty new. Not many of you think much of it, but seriously. If this changed back to weekly featured fics, maybe it'll be easier for us to find fanfic gems here in this site. I mean, isn't this what the feature is about? To bring out the good ones and to be able to represent the site itself and show the outsiders (and potential users) of what this site has to offer? (This backs up to what i had just mentioned earlier 'And maybe this is also another reason to why maybe this site doesn't have a very good reputation to other fans, who prefer LiveJournal or Wattpad.')

I am also increasingly getting frustrated that people are voting without voicing out their opinion, especially when they are against the idea of weekly features. At least comment and explain to WHY you prefer the daily featured fics? Help me understand why.

And let's be real here, of everyone that I've known that's gotten featured for a day has been happy. So as much as you want to say it's lost meaning, it hasn't for the authors that have gotten featured daily instead of weekly.

The weekly featured system had it's own set of problems since there are plenty of fics that deserved to be featured, but none of them actually got featured since you had to be popular and on the site for a rather long time before getting featured and even then, an EXO fic was featured almost every week. Plus, it wasn't like all of them were truly good either since plenty of featured fics that got featured weekly were terrible as well. At least with the daily feature, you can get various fandom fics noticed, rather than 99% of one fandom - I've seen more non-EXO fics get featured now than when we had the weekly system. That's huge for writers that write in other fandoms that aren't EXO. Sure, you can say it's lost a bit of meaning to those that want to read better fanfic, but even then, it's not like all the daily ones are that terrible. Yes, some are, but there have been some good ones as well. And if we're going by that thinking, I know plenty of fics that I've loved that have great writing, but they would have never gotten featured with the weekly system because they're not EXO... There are over 100k EXO fics on this site and while there are many great EXO writers, there are other fandoms that have some gems and with the rate EXO fics kept on getting featured weekly, these non-EXO fics at least have a chance to be featured now. (And as much as people want to claim good writing will get people to read fic, that's not exactly true because there are plenty of non-EXO fics that have good writing but aren't even given the time of day.) And it's not like people are just featured for a day, they're on the front page for three days - so technically you're promoted for 3 instead of 1. Yes, there are some downfalls to the system, but comparatively, I like the fact that I can discover more authors this way and actually dabble in other fandoms.
