[FAN ACCOUNT] 20151226 DGNA Japan Official Fanclub Opening Live

First of all, the live (and all of the events in this case) wasn't an ordinary event where all fans of DGNA can attend since it's a fanclub event, therefore tickets can only be sold to and reserved by official fanclub members. Due to circumstances, I decided not to apply for official fanclub membership. Since I came to Japan in September this year, I've been frequently attending DGNA events (because they did general selling) and of course, the fanclub exclusivity this time had me thinking that I have no chance of seeing them soon…then someone began selling FC tickets for both the live and the talk show (thank you so much, Nori-san /cries), thus the miracle.

The venue (Hitotsubashi Hall) was quite far from where I was (Yokohama), so I arrived at the venue almost an hour earlier than the show time. The venue is not that big and not that small either. Masters occupied half of the hall seats and I was seated along the aisle, 8 rows away from the stage.

I thought, "Cool, aisle seat. Now, I can see them clearly." Then, waited until 6:30 pm for the show to start.

The lights dimmed, the fans stood up the stage, and the boys came out the stage. They sang "First Noel" as their opening song, and I thought that they sang it just because it's Christmas but seconds later o h m y g o s h I just realized that they were singing the Xing version of First Noel. After that, they sung "In Your Hands" and I swear I was crying inside. I looked around for a moment and noticed that Japanese masters were surprised that DGNA was singing songs they've never heard before.

After the two songs, they did the first MC part and explained that they were once in a group called Xing, it's been 7 years since they sung those two songs, joked about the fans reaction (like they might have thought it was a cover or a new song or something), and how nostalgic the songs were. They said they had a fanmeet earlier and they had a lot of fun, then went on making fun of each other's hair styles (Karam spearheaded this part). It seemed like Injun changed his hair compared to the earlier fanmeet (I didn't quite understand this part; I'm sorry) then they looked at Hyunmin, whose permed hair was parted in the middle, and Karam said "Cabbage?!" Hyunmin didn't part his hair in the fanmeet earlier but before the live, he said he just looked at the mirror, parted his hair and said to himself, "I'll go with this tonight."  Injun said Mika got a haircut right before the live so his hair is a bit shorter. It seemed like they found a pair of scissors and decided to cut his hair right then and there but his hair turned out great amidst of all the worries he had (think Why Goodbye Mika era-- that was how he looked like last night //cries). Jay, on the other hand, had been protecting his fans' wishes and maintained his hair the way it is right now while Karam was teased by the others because his hair had been always the same since debut. They also reminisced like how much they have improved compared to the first time they went to Japan, the new words they have learned right now, and how they're amazed that they've been doing live shows & fanmeetings without any translators.  After much teasing, they also went on explaining the contents of the live and that since it's the holiday season, they decided that they would be doing more ballads. It seemed as if the fans wanted more up-beat songs, so DGNA reassured the fans that they will be also performing up-beat songs, including those that they haven't performed in a long time. Then they teased that one of the songs is from the Awake album, not "Biteul Biteul" (Stumble Stumble) and also not "Amudo…Nugudo," and started dancing to Amudo. They said that the choreographer who helped them with the dance has been the choreographer behind Girls' Generation's "Gee" and a lot more popular dances, but that choreographer stopped dancing after choreographing DGNA's Amudo Nugudo (after which DGNA started making jokes lol)

They proceeded with "Beautiful Days," "Jumping!," "come back to me," and "Girlfriend." After that, another MC part. When Girlfriend ended, they proceeded to a new formation for the next song but Injun and Karam (I think) inserted another MC part. They said that it's been a while since they performed Beautiful Days, and that it's nostalgic. Another nostalgic song was "Girlfriend." It was so nostalgic that DGNA forgot the dance steps. Then according to Injun's words, "Like a god, Mika suddenly remembered, showed us the steps and we all finally rememberedWe remembered the dance steps to all of our songs but why it was just Girlfriend's dance we can't remember? Mika saved us.😂

If you're wondering, in almost all lives, the boys except for Mika does the talking for the MC part. There would always be a part where either Karam or Injun would say something like "We've been talking for quite a while now and our throats are starting to hurt, but there's someone who hasn't spoken much since this live started." (//cue everyone looks at Mika) They asked him to introduce the next set of songs. Mika tried but it seemed like he can't form the right words in Japanese, so he kind of paused midway. Awkward silence for 3 seconds, then Karam joked, "Yappari kare wa dame da ne. (As I thought, he's not for this.)" Mika understands everything in Japanese, it's just that he can't speak it well. The song introduction was then given to Hyunmin who said that the next songs will be very nostalgic and it's been a while since they've performed them. After that, it was Jay who said the song title in Japanese.

"Admiring Boy" played ( b l e s s ), then New Boyz. In New Boyz, Mika danced too hard, accidentally dropping the mic. I didn't notice it actually, but I did notice that Jay casually walked around the stage at some point before returning to his position. I just thought that maybe it's part of their choreo. Japanese song Oh My Girl and Nuguseyo Japanese version played afterwards.

Another MC where the boys pointed out that Mika dropped his mic after dancing too much then Jay picking it up for him. Mika then retorted that it's his first time in his whole idol career that he dropped his mic in the middle of performance. They went on saying that Jay was so cool when he picked up the mic albeit walking on the stage casually mid-performance. After that, they talked about what if it was them who dropped the mic, Hyunmin said that it would be Injun who will panic. Basically, everyone will react to the situation coolly except for Injun 😂

After that, they once again introduced the next set of songs they will be singing, and that there's one song that DGNA asked Masters what they want to hear the most. Midway, Karam said to Mika "Let's do a sample now!" Then Mika said "Now?!" Then Hyunmin said "This guy's gonna be reprimanded by President later."

(The rest will be just a breeze through because they talk a lot and I cant remember everything ;-; )

For the last part, they sung "Yume Made Ato," "Kataomoi," and "White Love." After that, they said their greetings and went off the stage. Moments later, the fans started chanting for encore then they went out singing "Love Days."  They were wearing black and white shirts with Santa hats. Karam kept on greeting "Meri- Kuri-" then they threw signed balls and in the middle of the song, they looked at each other then everyone started jumping off the stage and ran/walked/skipped along the aisle. It was Injun who first passed by my aisle. I didn't get to touch him since, well, he wasn't holding out his hand 😂 Then Jay came next. This time I got to do a high five with him (cries). I looked at the stage and Mika was just there…standing…then Karam began walking from the back, down the aisle and went up on the stage. My mind went blank for a second (they're the first artists I've seen up close; forgive me HAHA).  My mind was in denial (o m g-they're -right -beside -me-this-is-a-dream kind of denial). All I can say is that they've got the best facial complexion I've ever seen in my entire life. And they're not really that tall. I'm about 5 ft  so maybe they're 5'5" up.

After they sung Love Days, they asked the fans "Did you like the surprise gift we gave you?" Apparently, they were thinking of how to repay the fans for their endless support this whole time and a bit of fanservice, getting close to all of the fans for a moment, was what they have thought. Injun then revealed that they have no plans of coming back to Japan yet, but they promised that they will on either February or March (they even told the staff backstage to make it happen).DGNA said that they want to do a Valentine live.

Before singing the last song, each member was asked of things they wanted to say.

Hyunmin said that he'd been composing a lot lately. He also said that the type of songs he made and as well as he's been making were a lot different than their songs before, so sometimes he listen to their past songs and try to remember the feeling. There were also times that he found it hard, like there's no melody coming out of his head, and there were times that he wanted to give up, but because of the fans, he decided to give his best and continue. His new song might be included in the upcoming release.

For Jay, he first started off saying that all the members are now living alone, except for him. Since his older brother and father are busy with work, it would always be him and his mom left inside the house, so they have been talking a lot lately. Recently, he and Hyunmin joined dance classes taught by someone popular. The classes are really hard, but both are really earnest in learning so they took up the challenge. In this part, members say commend Jay's talent in dancing and that Jay looked the happiest whenever he's dancing, so they're really supporting him. Jay is currently doing auditions and he might enter competitions next year.

Karam's was a bit difficult to understand for me but I did get what he's saying. Basically, he talked about destiny or  ("en") and connected it with karma (what goes around, comes around part) and luck. He kind of doesn't believe in luck being naturally possessed by a person, but instead he believes that luck is something that can be passed on--contagious in this sense. He goes on saying that it's okay for those who can't come to their lives/fanmeets/talkshows because they have something more important to do like a job, school or a schedule, because no matter what, Masters and DGNA are connected by destiny.

I can't remember Injun's, I'm so sorry.

Mika's the shortest one, mostly because he's struggling with Japanese. He said (along with the members' commendation) that he might be the quietest member and that he doesn't show that much emotions most of the time, but he had the most fun during the live and the fanmeet that took place earlier.

And with these words, DGNA introduced their last song, their song for Masters: "We Are Together"

Parts in MC that I don’t know where it took place:

  • Injun and Karam saying that they've been thinking hard about the setlist. They've sung almost everything then the question "What should we do when we've run out of songs to perform for the next lives?" Hyunmin said, "We should release something, then." They started joking from here on. It seemed like they presented a lot of songs to their President and Hyunmin also wrote a lot of songs but it's still to be decided when they will release something new and what genre would it be (ballad, pop, r&b)
