LET'S COVER THE BASICS

Name: Jung Yoonji
Stage name: Yoonji
Nicknames: Mom (
엄마), Jung leader
Age: 24
Date of Birth: 16/04

Ethnicity: South Korean
Birthplace: Gwangju, Jeolla Province, South Korea
Residency:
  • Gwangju - The city of Gwangju is where Yoonji grew up and lived until the age of fifteen. Her parents and her younger brother still reside in this city as they have a family business there. She tries to go and visit them whenever she can, however, due to the distance and her daily training, the amount of times she has seen them since becoming a trainee can be counted with one hand. Once she becomes successful, she wishes to buy a house for her parents and move their business to Seoul.
  • Seoul - Yoonji moved to Seoul after a successful audition with JYP Entertainment. She has been residing in Seoul in the dorms provided by the agencies ever since. She is currently living in a dorm with the other six members.

Languages:
  • Korean | Fluent | Since she could speak | Yoonji's first language was the Korean language, spoken in the Jeolla dialect. She however, does not use this dialect very often anymore, having practiced the Seoul dialect since she moved. Only when she is surprised or talking to people from her hometown does she bring out her dialect.
  • Japanese | Conversational | 5 years | Part of Yoonji's training was to learn the language of one of their neighbouring countries, for future group advancements. Although she is not the best at the language, she is able to hold a basic conversation in Japanese.
  • English | Basic | Since elementary school | Yoonji always found English difficult to wrap her head around and still finds it a struggle. She only knows some basic phrases and prefers to leave it up to the other members to do the talking.

THE 'IT' FACTOR

Trainee Period:

  • JYP Entertainment (4 years) - After auditioning for various entertainment agencies(ie. SM, JYP, DSP) for three consecutive years, she was finally accepted by JYP Entertainment. She attended her final years of schooling nearby and attended all the lessons provided by the agency after school. She was considered to be part of the final line up for Miss A but was dropped a few months before their debut.
  • Cube Entertainment (5 years) - Yoonji left JYP after she received news from the staff stating that she would be better off with a different agency. Through recommendations provided from her previous agency, she was able to join Cube Entertainment and has been training there ever since.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Background:

According to Yoonji's parents, she was born to be a performer. When she was still a toddler, she would dance and sing whenever her parents were listening to music; mostly trot. Her parents noticed her interest in music and allowed her to get singing lessons from the age of six onwards.

Although it was tough for them financially, they never wanted their first child to stop smiling. As such, they did their best to hide these troubles. Of course, it was impossible to completely hide them. Although it was rare, she can still remember hearing her parents argue. They were usually over simple things but eerie silences would ensue between them. The longest time this silence has lasted was for the period of a week.

There's nothing that scares her more than her parents' arguments. Yoonji vows to give her parents an easier life once she becomes famous, so that her parents can at least operate their restaurant without the stress of money. Her long term goals is to purchase properties in Seoul so that they can move their business and residence, and therefore spend more time with her family.

Since her parents own a small restaurant in Gwangju, she would always go to help out after school. This was basically everyday but Wednesday, as she had her singing lessons then. When it was not busy, she would do her homework. Well, that's what it looked like to her parents anyway. Since there was a TV for visiting patrons to watch, she would often switch the channel to one with a music shows. She learned a bit of dance by copying their moves. However, it wasn't until she started receiving training from an agency that she properly learned dance.  It was through this experience that she was introduced to mainstream korean popular music.

She was around eleven when she told her parents about her dreams to become a singer like the ones on TV - she especially admired BoA and wanted to become a great singer/dancer like her. Her parents initially took her words as a joke, but after a few months, they knew that she wasn't. They allowed her to go to auditions, on the condition that she would continue to studying. She agreed to these terms and managed to pass every class, even if she wasn't doing exceptionally well.

Determined on achieving her dreams, she went to every audition announced in her area for three consecutive years.  Although her spirits were crushed every time she was rejected, she kept her head high and continued practicing what she lacked. Finally, she was accepted by JYP Entertainment.

After her parents heard of her acceptance into one of the major entertainment companies, they gave their approval as promised and let her move to Seoul. With her parents' finanacial situation back then in mind, she unrelentingly put 100% effort into every lesson taught, practice and schedule hitherto.

Family

  • Jung Kyungmo | 51 | Father | Alive | Restaurant owner / Head Chef | Yoonji is not very close to her dad, as he was usually busy with work at the back of the restaurant. Although he is not very affectionate, she knows that deep down he cares for his kids a lot, evident through his support of his daughter's dreams. He loves to go drinking with his friends after work.
  • Ahn Jiyoung | 48 | Mother | Alive | Front end manager | Jiyoung is the one who does the accounts in the family. She often gets stressed out when her husband does things which do not benefit the family as a whole. She is more affectionate towards her children, however, as they grow older, she has become less affectionate. Although she still loves her children the same, she does not want to concern them. She was the one who initially showed less support for her daughters' choices in career paths, as she did not want them to get hurt.
  • Jung Sooji | 18 | Sister | Alive | Trainee | Sooji was always really close to Yoonji, despite their near constant bickering when they were younger. Similar to Yoonji, they both loved to sing and perform. Sooji decided to follow the same path as Yoonji when she turned 10 and was accepted into DSP Entertainment at the age of 14. She is still currently training there and is waiting for debut.
  • Jung Jihoon | 17 | Brother | Alive | Student | Jihoon is the most quiet and also the most studious in the family. He supports both his sisters quietly, though he has never verbally stated so. He usually gets teased by his sisters but he's used to it. He is still living at home and is trying to get into a good university.

THE FACE BEHIND THE MASK

Personality Traits:

Yoonji always tries to look at the positive side of things, no matter how grim the situation may be. She lives by the saying that 'every cloud has a silver lining', and was given the leader role for exuding that mentality.

Being the eldest daughter in her family, she naturally inherited various leadership qualities - her parents often depended on her to make sure her siblings were okay. If anything ever happened to them, she would take responsibility for it. As such, being the leader of Mystique, she will take responsibility for any mistakes made by her 'kids' (the other members).

Aside from her personal problems, she will try to take on other's problems too. She is often enthusiastic that she is able to solve everyone else's problems. However, she sometimes disappoints herself, leaving her to shoulder on even more problems. Yoonji tend to keep her personal feelings bottled up and will try her best to not worry those around her. When it all begins to become too much, her members will notice and will try their best to get her to confide with them. With much difficulty, they'll be able to get to to talk, which is what she needs 80% of the time. The remaining percentage can only be solved by talking to her family, to remember why she is doing this and who she's doing it for.

Yoonji is also quick to trust people, so if a scammer were to come, she would be the member most likely to be scammed. As a consequence, she is also extremely gulliable and is often victim to pranks made the other members.

Although this is the case, she is strict when she needs to be. This is particularly evident when she is working. She will not be pleased with the members when they put less than 100%, even when they are practising.

Even though she is pictured to be the mother of the group, she is nothing like a mother behind the scenes. Despite the fact that she is decent at cooking, she will never clean up after herself, unless someone nags at her non-stop for an hour. The members also swear that she can somehow manage to leave a trail of mess behind her within the dorm, even when  there's nothing on her person at the time. Her part of the dorm is also basically a 'do not enter' zone, as people who enter are rumoured to never return.

Likes:

  • Naps/Sleep - She is the type of person who can sleep through any situation within minutes. However, in a similar manner, she can wake up within minutes too.
  • Singing/performing - Evidently, being one of the singers of the group, she enjoys being on the stage, doing what she's best at doing.
  • Romantic situations - Being someone who avidly watches k-dramas, she has always wanted to be surprised with a sea of fairy lights being lit in a garden. However, even small events will make her incredibly happy.
  • Snacks - She will usually carry around little things to munch on, particularly when they're travelling in their van together, she will offer some to the other members.
  • BoA - She has idolised her since she first got into mainstream Korean music. Her ultimate goal is to perform with her one day.
  • Korean food - She cannot live without this cuisine. When they go overseas, she will always bring ramyun, so that she'll at least have something close to home.

Dislikes:

  • Cleaning - She cannot stand having to clean up, even after herself.
  • Acting - It has never been her forte, therefore she doesn't ever take up the acting portions in MVs.
  • Concerning others - She will never bother anyone with any favours or worries, unless there's no choice but to do so.
  • Coffee - she's more of a tea person
  • Extreme hot weather - You will see her on the floor like a starfish, or hogging the aircon on these days.

Hobbies:

  • Watching k-dramas - her members always say that she'll never date at this rate.
  • Staying home- Although it is not really a hobby, on her days off, she prefers to stay in the dorm, watching her dramas and resting. She will only go out if her members pull her along with them.
  • Learning BoA's songs/dances - she probably knows all the choreo for her songs and all the lyrics
  • Cooking - she likes cooking Korean dishes mostly - however, as expected, she does not clean up afterwards.

Habits:

  • Leaving a mess behind her - particularly after cooking, with her laundry, and just her part of the dorm.
  • When she is worrying about things, she will space out.
  • Humming/Singing when she's waiting for something, nervous, or when she's bored.
  • Borrowing the other member's things when at their dorm because she can't find her own in her mess - she usually returns the items. usually.
  • Talking like a mother - ie. "I didn't raise you be like this!"

YOU'RE MINE.

Name: Yoon Doojoon
Group: Beast

Personality:

Doojoon is the type of person who won't take no as an answer, often using his 'professional' persuasion techniques to convince the other party. Although this is the case, he will never use his persuasion maliciously, keeping the other person's wellbeing in mind.

He is honest and straight-forward with his thoughts and feelings, therefore expects to receive the same treatment. He hates ambiguity and when people try to hide things from him. As such, he always manages to get Yoonji to talk when she's worried.

He loves to joke around, but similar to Yoonji, he takes his leader role very seriously. He knows when to be serious and is respected by the Beast members for that reason.

He does not like corny things - however, to make Yoonji happy, he puts on small events for her on special ocassions. He will act indifferent at these times, but he is actually just embarassed.

He hardly ever gets angry and usually keeps a positive mindset, no matter what.

How they met:

The year Yoonji entered JYP, was the first time she met Doojoon. She saw him practicing with other male trainees but didn't think much of it. She was more excited to be one step closer towards her dreams.

It wasn't until about one month after she joined that she first spoke to him. She bumped into him around the corner, 'just like a drama' and finally introduced herself after giving an apology. They talked for a while, finding out that he was filming 'Hot Blood Men' with the possible candidates for 2AM and 2PM at the time. She gave her support and followed the show after that. She would talk to him every time they bumped into each other, praising his performance in the show, however, she soon found out that he didn't make it.

A few months after the show, he left for a different entertainment company without another word. It wasn't until he debuted in Beast that she found out. They did not speak to each other again until she moved to Cube. She got angry at him for not letting her know about his departure. To make her happy, he promised that he'd let her know anything big from now on. Since they came from a similar background, in JYP, they had a lot in common and spoke whenever they could. She treated him like a her brother and a close friend.

Their interactions reduced drastically after Beast became more famous. However, their hearts slowly grew fonder.

Interactions:

Yoonji has always treated Doojoon like her older brother - they always tell each other lame puns and jokes. They also tease each other as siblings do.

They never really act lovey dovey with each other as they find it quite awkward. Particularly since they've been friends for such a long time and also, considering both their statuses.

They both notice that they see each other as something more than friends, however do not act on their feelings as they believe their career is more important at this current time. Despite Doojoon's straight-forward attitude, they have not confessed to each other before.
