seo jian was born to parents, seo kangjun and kim saeun on the 14th of june in a small private hospital located in seoul. as clíche as it sounded, jian was born with a silver spoon in . her father was the head of a large soju enterprise and her mother was a successful poet, from a wealthy family. honestly, ever since young, jian has always been closer to her father, she used to follow him around in work and the best part of her days would be when he returned home and the two of them would sit in front of the television together and watch sitcoms together.
even though jian's dad was a good father to her, he definitely was not a good person. all of jian's bad traits are from her father - she watched him use people, watched him give his winning smile before turning around and stabbing them in the back, watched him turn corrupt to maintain his position at the top, using money to win people over. and because this happened on such a regular basis, jian accepted this as a normality. her brain instilled the idea that to be successful, you have to be like dad.

DID I REALIZE IT WAS YOU IN MY HEART / yet, mingyu's dreams came crashing down when he found out that it was jian that spread the rumors. jian who spent hate. jian who caused him to have detention for weeks straight. the lovesick spell was lifted and finally, he saw jian for who she really was: a , who used people to get what she wanted. it was coincidental that when he was going to confront her, he overheard her conversation with gaeun, as they laughed at some kid in their class when earlier this morning, mingyu had heard jian complimenting her. upset, they'd gotten in a fight, ending in mingyu yelling, "you can't keep treating people like this, jian! you can't use them, you can't be so ing y." and even though it killed jian, she walked away. she walked away from mingyu, with the last words, "watch me."
I WANT THE ONE I CAN'T HAVE / jian would never admit it but she missed him. she missed mingyu so much. it got so bad to a point that jian actually sat down and wrote a letter confessing her feelings for him. she had all the heart to send it, to let mingyu know that she was sorry, that he made her want to be a better person. but as she noticed how sweet and kind and pure mingyu was, how nice he was to people, how he just liked helping them, jian realized that for the very first time in her life, that she would never be good enough for him. that mingyu deserved better. mingyu deserved a nice, sweet girl who donated to charity and wasn't mean and didn't lie and didn't pretend to be someone else for their own benefit. so, she ended up never sending that letter.
ENDING: they don't end up together - mingyu remains a beautiful memory in jian's mind forever. it's sad and it kills her to see him around but jian takes it as her punishment for her actions. honestly, this is the first time that anyone has seen jian slightly remorseful over any of her actions. ## character development ##

this is such a waste of time, i don't even know why i'm doing it. anyway, today was a day where our tests results came back - obviously, i got the highest again and someone actually tried to argue that the teacher marked me down?? wtf?? i pretended like i didn't care and told him he was being a big dickhead and it shut up him, but i'll have to get back at him in some way. maybe i'll ask dad for help! hopefully, he'll be back from tokyo soon - he promised me we'd finish watching the latest episode of d-day together!
