but turn on the cameras- and the entire "i'll wait for you before i sleep" seems like it never existed. on screen, she's snarky towards everyone- snarky/sarcastic, she doesn't mean it in a hurtful way. she's so blunt and brutally honest that hongki can't even- and this is coming from someone who is the self proclaimed appa of the group. she puts things out with no compassion or empthaty, and doesn't think twice about putting a member on blast. but her favorite thing to corrupt her young, impressionable member's mind by randomly shouting banana milk and oh my god get your mind out of the gutter mei but all jokes aside the idol athletic championships were meant for her. she's so competitive that a game of monolpoly ends with the table being flipped and card everywhere. to her it only matters that you've won and nothing else. in part, maybe it's been the competitiveness that always pushes her to do her best. but she is the walking definition of passive aggresive. subtle threats, insults, hate- she hides it so well it may sound like a compliment. i.e. teacher favors certain member? "hmm, what did you do to make him favor you *laughs*" she could also be every antagonist on every teen girl tv show from nickelodean, as her jealousy levels go from zero to a hundred real quick. especially towards other members- despite being incredibly caring feiyan keeps her jealous traits to herself and herself only. she can be jealous over practically anything- and she'll let you know through a) passive aggresive remarks, or b) whining.

before feiyan was born there was zhang xiaori and choi jongyoung. they met on a fluke. it was really weird- because they're both fluent in korean and english. xiaori was originally studying linguistics as a foreign student from china, in korea along with jongyoung (her annoying assignment partner). despite finding each other incredibly annoying because they had more than one language to mock or throw insults at each other- i guess opposites attract because suddenly after her 25th birthday (which coincidentally was when she finished her 124 page-long thesis statement for college) she found herself puking in the toilet- which might've been normal because she was hangover after celebratory drinking night but i mean, there was a korean guy she hated in her bed, and she was herself and oh is that a duratex wrapper? yes it is, but it's still in the wrapper. and nine months later after a flash wedding that actually meant love to her because hey- her great grandmother would've probably risen from the grave and strangled her being so blind to the love she had with jongyoung, out came xiaori who screamed so loud that jongyoung nearly fainted.
and at the age of one, feiyan found out where she got her competitiveness trait from when both xiaori and jongyoung started speaking their respective native tongues rapidly (chinese and korean respectively) to see which language would be her first. so when feiyan uttered "xing xing" which translates to star star when xiaori was showing her pictures of the star in their lovely seoul home- xiaori went and got herself a cake to congratulate herself. of course, it also said "sorry jongyoung" just to rub the salt in the wound. but growing up, feiyan had the best parents in the world. they were the best mix of play and work. when they worked they brought her along with them during chinese lessons to korean students where mostly everyone focused on cute little feiyan than the lessons themselves. she also got the most angpao, hell yes. gotta get that $250 from grandmother, and then that $250 from grandpa.
as she got older- (keep in mind she is fluent in korean and chinese by the age of 5) she couldn't help but start to notice k-pop. originally set on just listening to k-indie- that all quickly changed with the debut of f(x) who- contained chinese amber- and showed feiyan that even chinese can be successful in k-pop. she also noticed that she had a decent voice- but she also noticed that she could learn choreographies within a day. and falling in love with k-pop more, she heard about jyp hosting auditions- and for the hell of it, she randomly went to one of them and just auditioned to see if she could get in. she really didn't think about seeing it as a future, and she didn't even prepare for it. so when she got the call back for round two then round three, then contract signing- this is where her story starts.
