— HAELI IN A FEW WORDS? I NEED A LOT OF WORDS. the last thing im haeli should be thinking about is
having a relationship and yet, it's all she thinks about. from spazzing over somebody mentioning verbal jint in a
conversation to wondering how good a guy she's just met is at kissing. it isn't a question why boys are just naturally drawn to her, really. a popular foreigner with golden locks and mesmerizing eyes — and that seeming angelic smile
that could actually get you into a lot of trouble. but something that isn't visible to the eye is her strong front, but
hopeful and shy heart. and yet, she has to humbly reject any form of confession thrown her way. and that's
because of her family and their social status. her whole life it's been 'study now, fun later' only to lead to her
parents' decision for her arranged marriage when she reaches the age of twenty. haeli decided to rebel. accepting
confessions and dating off and on in secret, trying to find the perfect guy that her parents would approve of. after
all the chaos of trying and always failing, haeli gave up, becoming hopeless and desperate. she had thoughts about

YOU AND ME, LET'S CHANGE UP THIS SCENE. haeli is a four dimensional social butterfly that wants live life to the fullest. and yet, her parents control almost every aspect of her life, which is why she's so rebellious. she's your fun and laid back friend even though she's stressed about everything like her parents' expectations, classes ( even though she doing average in them ), and her future. and yet she seems to pull that all aside and decide to live in the moment and just have fun. she's pretty chill while at the same time has absolutely no chill whatsoever. if you spill a glass of room temperature water on her, she'll just wave her hand with a short 'hey, it's cool. don't worry about it.' because frankly, she's too lazy to care about that. you can hang out with her and basically do nothing except watch netlix and eat some chips, you don't even have to move. she is just that friend that you always need. you need to vent about your stupid crush, you need to prove a game theory, you need fashion advice, or you just want somebody to hold you while you cry, haeli will be there. she's loyal although irresponsible. she knows that whatever she did for you, you'd do the same. she thinks highly of herself and finds herself relatable. seriously, she could start a sentence with 'you know those moments when' or 'don't you hate it when' and after she says whatever needs to be said you will definitely say 'oh my god, yes, i thought i was the only one.' — and out of nowhere — friendship ensues. that's another thing, haeli is friendly, maybe a little too friendly [ i'm warning all the boys here ] since if you isolate yourself from most people, she'll try with all her might to be friends with you. haeli is persistent, but not to the point of annoyance. she's sharp, meaning she's sarcastic. and she isn't smart, she's street smart. clever, if you will. somebody could say something negative to or about her and she'll snicker and say 'that's not what your mom said last night' and laugh at her own lame joke, that you secretly will think is hilarious. finally, haeli is the life of the party. no — she is the party. she attends all types of parties. you know it won't be a fun party if haeli isn't there. she'll sneak out and do anything she can to just have fun with her friends. all in all, haeli is a free and friendly spirit that you'd want as a friend. although cocky and sarcastic, she is funny and vibrant, and she just wants to live life.

RAISE THE TENSION A BIT MORE. but after all this praise and good things said about haeli, welcome to the heartbreak. haeli is always making [ if not getting into ] trouble. she is both the over-protective mother of her group of friends as well as the crazy child that always needs to be looked after. she's always the one to call you at two in the morning and say 'hey, i just snuck out, wanna' go to a club are something?' — and yes, she knows she underaged but she has angles. she's the one in a party to be daring people that absolutely hate each other to kiss, that's just who she is. she is blunt and forward, vulgar nonetheless. for example she once claimed to a sunbae that he was doing something wrong and she wasn't going to stand for it, and when he told her that he was older so she should respect him, so she pushed him and starting cursing like a truck driver. being brutally honest is what she's good at, there's just no way that she can't give you a negative opinion if it's the truth; 'do i look fat in this, haeli?' 'yeah.' '...'. like previously said, haeli is boyish. and what do most people associate with boys? how immature they are. haeli doesn't believe people who don't find the occasional fart followed by laughter or the saying of 'ha.. you said duty.' funny. it's annoying and makes you want to strangle her. she's a erted one. and it's not erted as in she spies on people getting undressed or something ridiculous like that, it's just weird and random. let's say she's talking to a guy friend and all of a sudden she slaps his thigh and says something like 'damn you must be doing squats' which will send him into laughter. or she will just occassionally graze her girl friend's - just a little bit. she doesn't know why she enjoys touching butts, her hand just goes where it goes [ straight quote from bae joohyun before touching seulgi's ]. haeli is just too fast with her actions, she doesn't think before doing, it's all or nothing for her. you can't just tell when she's about to do something risky or insane as she always does, she's a step ahead of you. and lastly, haeli is kinda' slow. yes you'd think that every blonde would be slow, but haeli is orginally a brunette. she sometimes will only get the joke two hours later and will have those moments of 'ohhhhhhhhhhh' for something completely obvious.

haeli was born two days before her mother's birthday on october 16th, 2000. she was born into a life of luxury as her mother and father were very wealthy. her father inherited his father's mobile company and her mother was a wedding dress designer, and had many people working for her. haeli grew up in toronto, canada, alongside her older sister haeryung. haeli doesn't know much about why the family was located in canada at the time but she didn't mind about it. haeli started out as a really shy kid during elementary school. it's not that she didn't want to make friends, she just guesses that she was an outcast. but she never put herself out there either, so she blames herself for that. she grew a liking for the things most girls didn't like, sports and computer games. sometimes she would look at the other girls talking about makeup tips and how to take care of hair, but she wasn't interested. but in grade six, she got noticed, but not for good reasons. she got bullied by the 'cool girls' of her class, she guesses it was because she didn't wear makeup, had no friends, wore glasses, but instead it was something worse. because she was different, and when i say different, i mean asian. another thing, she was chubby to say the least. so many harsh racial slurs were thrown at her and yet she was silent for the whole year, then came the last day of school before she moved away. she marched right up to those girls, her heart in hand and tears in her eyes, and told them that being different is something she was going to live by from then on. that night, haeli's family moved back to korea, their country of orgin. haeli wasn't exactly devastated that she had to leave her life in canada behind — she had no life. she could only go to school and come home, she wasn't allowed to anywhere, she wasn't allowed to talk to boys — haeli realized that there was more to life then good grades and skill - she realized that she would never live a boring life. it was time to make a change.

haeli's family moved back to their orginal whereabouts due to the expansion of her father's bussiness failing. even though haeli lived wealthily in canada, it got a whole lot better in korea. they moved into the penthouse that used to belong to her grandfather and after she finished middle school, haeli transferred to none other than the well known seoul arts high school, otherwise known as sopa, and was ultimately given the chance to start fresh. during her middle school years, she realized that she was too shy. she wasn't confident like the others. she couldn't just simply break out of her shell out of nowhere, but things slowly changed. she got a little taller and her skin was becoming pale, which was apparently a good thing in korea, and she started to update her clothing. her diet plans were getting better and the weight seemed to be dropping significantly. she met her best friend choi junhong, another guy who wasn't considered popular. he didn't prefer sports and liked to think that life was just a theory, he was odd, and haeli liked that. a pinky promise and an awkward smile later, they were inseperable. the rest of the year went on like this until summer came along, and they met once and awhile, but thankfully the final year before high school came around quickly. they were still bestfriends, but haeli could tell something was off. she openly asked him, he replied with pink cheeks. 'i like you haeli. but i know you don't like me, and that's okay.' haeli's heart raced and she was almost on the verge of crying. guys in canada didn't like girls like her, but knowing that one guy liked her, it made her happy. for lots of people this would be normal, but haeli felt differently. 'i like you. i like you so much.' haeli said before hugging him tight. haeli wasn't going to live boringly. this was just a sign of it.
haeli's 14th birthday came along, and she bravely went to her mother about her crisis. 'mom, you said i should think for myself, right?' 'that's right, dear.' 'then...i decided to date someone recently... i also wanted to know if i could get contacts and... dye my hair?' 'what? haeli, you're dating? i forbidded you from dating, and contacts? dye your hair? where did you get all these stupid ideas from?' '...well, i'm not listening to you anymore!' haeli bursted. 'my life is boring and i have no friends! i don't want to be like you, mom! don't you have regrets? don't you wish that you were like everyone else?' haeli raised her voice and stood up. she walked away, locking herself in her room. she went to her mirror and took of her glasses, taking her ponytail out and letting her brown hair fall around her. it wasn't going to be easy but, she was in charge of herself now. over the next week haeli completely changed her style with the help of haeryung, ditched the glasses and got contacts with the help of her dad, but she was still contemplating on whether to really dye her hair or not. an eight grader that needed to stand out, but how? she stood out in canada because of her current looks, so why not stand out here because she looked like the girls in canada? blonde, that was it. two weeks later, she commited and dyed her hair blonde. instead of looking completely horrible and weird, it was mesmerizing. it was probably the most drastic event that occured in her life. she looked like a different person. the next time junhong saw her he questioned if haeli had become haughty and snobby, like the other girls at their school, but haeli was the same person. 'i'm becoming myself. independence, you know? but i'm still me, i'm still in - uhm - love with you.' haeli smiled. 'i was the only asian kid in my old classes... i was fat too.' 'really?' 'yeah... so girls bullied me and i changed. i didn't want to go through that again.' 'so that's why you changed your looks?' 'yeah, but next is the way i think. i need to be strong, not the weak person i used to be.' 'well you have me, remember that.'
haeli's rebellion against her parents progressed as she found her true self and it ended up not too well in her case. the first time she snuck junhong into her room and her mom caught her, haeli just stared at her with a sneer before turning back to junhong and continuing to talk. haeli got into loads of trouble when they found out that junhong was her boyfriend and haeli cried herself to sleep when nobody was watching. their relationship eventually ended because of her parents catching her again later in the year, but they had already gotten far enough for haeli to have her first kiss, and maybe second...and eighth. haeli's mother was so upset that she declared that haeli would have an arranged marriage with a man from canada of the same social status. haeli was even more upset, and she just decided to channel out all of her problems and focus on the good things in life. junhong was still her best friend, but was upset that they had to be separated. the feeling was mutual to haeli. but they carried on as usual, and then highschool came along. haeli transferred to seoul arts high school, junhong went over to jeondo high school. i mean their schools were just a block away but haeli was nervous. junhong was all haeli ever had and to go to a different school along was scary. and yet, haeli took a step into her new school the following year and caught everyone's attention. she met three girls; moon sua, kim saeron, and fernanda ly. they instantly became a group of friends and the three were haeli's guide through high school. even though they were already well known throughout the school, their popularity boosted even more by welcoming the new blonde girl into their circle. that's how jeon jungkook found out about her. and let's just say that for haeli, seeing jungkook was crush at first sight. junhong and haeli still hung out of course, they would never stop, but they both moved on from each other and settled at their new school's. haeli began to open up her heart to others, and every morning her locker began stacking up on love confession notes. haeli began to sneak out a lot and not tell anyone but haeryung and takuya where she was going. she would date guys and introduce them to the family, trying to get her mom to change her mind about the arranged marriage. her mother's heart softned because she knew that haeli was just trying to live her own life. with a nod, she decided to let haeli be for now.

it's no lie that throughout the week, haeli pretty much has the house to herself other than her caretakers and housekeepers. her father is always busy with work and sometimes he doesn't even come home sometimes. her mother on the other hand is home after school but not on weekends, including fridays, but not including sundays, everybody is home on sunday. so other than that, haeli is usually alone. she doesn't like the vacancy of the huge penthouse all to herself, but the caretakers and housekeepers keep her company. takuya technically doesn't live in the house but he's there if haeryung's there, so takuya is only home on sundays and saturdays. this is usually why she invites hanbit over and vice versa. usually when haeli is home she is getting ready for school, lying down, playing videogames and browses on her computer, or outside in the neighbourhood park, playing basketball. the time she spends alone on saturday in the afternoon is usually netflix and chill by herself, practicing guitar, and waiting for the sun to go down so she could get dressed up and force hanbit to go out with her. so basically her life at home is pretty chill and lonesome, but sometimes she doesn't mind that. at home is the one place she'll wear her glasses again. to be honest she misses them sometimes.

at school haeli is popular and is always busy, and she doesn't mind that. she's apart of the a-team, consisting of her and her bestfriends moon sua, kim saeron, and fernanda ly. they are in the class of 4c, the most hectic and crazy class of seoul arts high school. haeli often curses and does entertaining things at school and is calm at home. other than the a-team haeli is friends with jeon jungkook, a football player that introduced her to the team. haeli's locker is always filled with love notes and candies/chocolate, making her heart secretly flutter and her ego not-so-secretly boost higher. haeli sits at the back of her classes with the a-team and they usually do anything but pay attention. haeli will never not talk about male idol groups and their stats on m-net and such. in her class of 28 people she is placed 18th, so she isn't the best but she could be worse. she is 'accidentally' late for classes that she hates and early for the ones she loves, but depending on her mood, that information varies. she doesn't absorb information too quickly, so notes are always the way to go. she doesn't expect her grades to go up any time soon, but since jungkook is smart

7:15 a.m. : put on makeup ( if you feel like it )
7:20 a.m. : go downstairs and have ms. jeon make me some breakfast.
7:35 a.m. : after breakfast, thank ms. jeon as well as the housekeepers and other caretakers.
7:45 a.m. : just now realize that i didn't finish my homework, don't bother trying.

im hanbin, haeli's goofy, always busy father. the man that haeli's friends have never seen, but if they were to see him, their reaction would go something along the lines of 'oh! i didn't know you had an older brother.' without a doubt. hanbin looks younger than he really is, you could even mistake him for a college student. he is very warm towards haeli at times, but also very stern. a love/tough-love relationship. he's basically chaeryung's wife instead of the other way around. he tries to be a strict as haeli's mother because, well, she tells him to, but while he tries he simply just can't cherise and baby his little princess. he's the one who spoils her and will buy her anything she wishes. but at the same time he is like a general, he just always has to say something. he asks haeli the most obvious and stupid questions but it's all just for her safety, and without knowing it, he can be pretty hilarious. something along the lines of 'hey daddy, i'm going to school.' WAIT IS THIS ACTUALLY WORKING the fake couple held hands when haeli's school came into view and they walked through the gates, luckily early. chan was surprised as many people greeted haeli as they passed by. 'you sure are popular.' 'pft, you should see my locker.' haeli spotted her group of friends and approached them, putting on a smile. when saeron turned to look, jungkook came into view, making chan grip tighter on haeli's hand. 'hey guys.' ''hey guys'? that's all you have to say?' 'what do you mean? ohh~' haeli sang in tune of the justin beiber song. 'who's this?' fernanda asked, almost lowly. 'my boyfriend — remember?' the three girls shared a look and spoke with their eyes. they went along with it. 'oh yeah, haeli told us a lot about you!' sua began, holding out her hand. chan shook hands with all of her friends, but jungkook was still frozen with his mouth agape. 'you weren't...joking..' jungkook held out his hand as well and chan shook it. 'i'm lee chan by the way.' he greeted all of haeli's friends, still holding hands with haeli. the two looked at each other and he leaned in and pecked haeli's cheek, making her blush. he said that he had to go to school but that he'd be back during lunch. the fake couple waved to each other before chan exited, remembering to call her jagi before he left.
jungkook looked at haeli, a little embarrassed that he thought haeli had lied. 'i guess you really weren't kidding uhm- you guys look good together.. i'm gonna' go—' he said before stumbling away. when he was gone fernanda hit haeli across the face and hell officially broke loose. the a-team were now the only ones who knew that haeli wasn't in a real relationship, next up was breaking the news to junhong and hanbit, but that could wait. there was only four more days until chan was to move in with her. haeli innerly groaned. if only it was jungkook moving in with her.
MMMMMMMMOHYMYGOD november second came around quicker than haeli expected. it was early in the morning when everybody was up and her mother and father had their bags ready and were bidding her goodbye. 'so when will chan be staying here?' 'tonight.' 'okay, sweetheart. call us everyday okay?' 'okay mom.' and with that, haeli's parents were gone and she was finally free. but not so free since after school, chan would be officially staying with her. haeli bit her lip just thinking about it. for some reason it felt as if he really was her boyfriend, but she couldn't possibly fall for him because she remembers the sorry look on jungkook face a few days ago. she goes back upstairs and look around her room. 'i guess we'll have to share my bed.'
that afternoon, chan showed up with a single suitcase and haeli brought him upstairs. 'were sharing a bed — is that okay?' chan face turned visibly red, making haeli snicker a little bit. 'w-we are? uhm, yeah, that's cool.' 'my dad will kill you if something happens btw.' 'something happens?' 'you better not try to kiss me or something.' '...' chan gulped. 'but if i'm the one who kisses you, then it's fair game.' 'what?' 'okay so bathroom is down the hall, kitchen is near the common room and you can start unpacking. we'll talk about going out after that.' 'o-oh...ne, jagi.'
chan was finished unpacking and haeli sat them both down. she talked about how she would meet him at his school when school is over and they would walk home, and they would continue to walk to school together everyday. how chan continued to visit haeli during lunch — and haeli was to always make sure she invited jungkook. she also said that they should go on dates all the time, and plans would be made. 'i think that's everything...' 'i'm sorry, by the way.' 'huh?' 'i kissed your cheek really suddenly and you seemed uncomfortable with it... am i allowed to kiss you?' 'chan, you can hold my hand, hug me, put your arm around me, so of course you can kiss me.' haeli shrugged, not being careful with her wording. 'can i...' chan had already leaned closer. 'kiss you now?' haeli's face turned pink and she back away a little, beginning to panick. she talked the talk again. but before she could say anything chan already leaned in and pecked her lips, but that was just enough to make haeli's heart race.
after that happened, things were pretty quiet between them, but the awkwardness eased out later when they started to get along. they started to know more about each other and shared a lot of laughs, and agreed that tommorrow they'd go on their first official date. chan took haeli to an amusement park, which made haeli very happy, and they had lots of fun. haeli forgot about jungkook when she was with chan, and she just now remembered how handsome he is. but when monday came around again she remembered her main objective, but she gets distracted every now and then. was she growing feelings for chan? definitely, and it's only been a week and a half. but it's not like she would admit it.

eventually awkward situations were occuring at haeli's home on some nights. like the one time chan came out of the shower shirtless but with pants on and a towel around his neck and haeli almost died when she choked on her water, or the time haeli put on her glasses after taking off her makeup; 'haeli, i thought you were gonna' take off your makeup' 'i did.' '...so you're just naturally that pretty? unbelievable.' 'mwoya? do you want to get your beat?' but chan began to realize that he really liked haeli, after all of their dates and seeing how fun and cool she was compared to his other clients, it just made him like her. 16 days out of 30 had passed and he didn't want the 30th to ever come. he felt so free when he was with haeli since she was so optimistic about everything when he knows that she's under stress and pressure but just hides it really well. he wanted her. and he wanted her to think about him instead of jungkook. what we have here is a love story that only became a love story because nobody said what they truly felt at the right time. with no confidence yet all the confidence in the world at 9:00pm, chan approached haeli, his face straight. he held haeli against the wall of her bedroom and kept her in place. 'chan? what're you—' 'if you saw me in your eyes—' haeli became silent. 'if you saw me instead of jungkook... would you let me treat you like you're my everything?' 'w-what's wrong with you, channie?' 'because if you were mine, i wouldn't let you go.. like he did.' chan said before he got off of haeli and turned to walk away. out of confusion and sorry, haeli hugged him from behind. they said nothing to each other, they just stood.
it was a week after chan had basically confessed to her when jungkook had asked to meet haeli in their classroom during lunch, since the room was always vacant at that time. haeli agreed, but she didn't know what she expected. if she thought the same way she did a month earlier, she would be hopeful that he finally came to his senses. but now, all that was on her mind was chan. the way she hugged chan. the way it felt like she was made to hold him in her embrace. but now she was in front of jungkook, but her mind was somewhere else. she wasn't even listening to a word he said until he grabbed her hand. 'i like you. i'm sorry that i had to lie and say that i ddin't, but i can't tell you why. when you confessed to me i just wanted to hug you. haeli, i would do anything for you.' haeli's eyes were wide but she asked jungkook to give her time to think, and he did. she went to hanbit to take her mind off things, leaving chan at home. hanbit brought up the memories of haeli calling her and telling her to send help with chan's hilarious hollering in the background, and the memories of sending her a certain derp selca of her and mingyu in which haeli replied with a derp selca of her and chan. 'haeli, you like him don't you?' haeli looked at hanbit with a pout. 'what's holding you back?' 'jungkook said he liked me today.' 'what? that's amazing right!? isn't that the reason you...hired...' hanbit trailed off once she realized what was going on. 'oh.' she said. 'what do i do?' 'well, you've been totally in love with jungkook for almost three years, and yet you fell for chan just as fast.' 'but the thing is...when i'm with chan i forget about jungkook.' hanbit gave her a sly grin. 'what?' 'oh my god you are so into him.'
TELL ME WHY, WHY CAN'T MY HEART STOP SHAKING? the awkwardness again evened out between haeli and chan even after he confessed and they continued to be close friends and go on dates. there was no point to go on dates or to have him walk haeli to school or any of the activites to do together since jungkook already confessed. the only reason for haeli to still go out with him is because he's living with her — and the fact that she obviously likes him. it was almost the end of the month, and haeli wanted to show chan her secret hide away before he had no choice but to leave her. haeli took her father's car out for a drive and brought chan along. her guitar and a picnic basket were taking up the backseat and the drive was so long that before they both knew it, the sun began to go down. but once they arrived, chan realized that they were at an abandoned drive-in movie area. they did nothing but talk and blast music, they ate the food they packed, and haeli danced crazily by herself to the music playing as chan watched her with a smile, and then he joined in. unfortunately in began to rain, and chan complained, but haeli nagged at him to have some fun. they kept dancing in the rain, laughing hard and just enjoying being with each other. haeli's hands wrapped around chan's neck and his hand's wrapped around her waist, and they looked at each other, forehead to forehead, trying to catch their breath. 'jungkook.. he confessed to me awhile ago.' chan smile dissapeared immediately. 'and then i realized how stupid i am.. because it took me this long to realize that i don't like him.' chan had a glint of hope in his eyes. 'and?' chan asked eagerly. haeli laughed a bit. 'i like you, my channie. do you still like me?' she asked, smiling since their foreheads were still together. chan replied by embracing haeli and locking lips with her. it was a long, passionate kiss, but haeli was too into it to blush this time.
