that Happens to Me - 1

Hm, I don't remember when exactly this happened but I know it was during school in the morning while I was with my little sister. Well, let's begin the story. (Last Friday)

I was on my way to school and I came across this underclass man at the front entrance. The first thing he told me was - let me tell you I don't know him personally - "Hey, can you climb up on the roof?" I just stood there and my sister just looked at me with this poker face like 'what the hell is this dude saying?'.

Being the awkward pickle I am, I just stared at him quietly with this straight face. "So, can you get up there dude?" He asks again, but I muttered, "No, I don't think I can," but I'm pretty sure he didn't hear me if my sister didn't. So my sister pulled my arm so we can keep walking and I hear in the distance, "Dude, that was a girl!" says some chick. He then shouts while pointing at me, "No, that's a dude!" Vice versa, they continue to argue about my gender as I meekly try to escape. Then, I hear him say, "Wait, is he gay?"

Before I walk away though, I mumble, "What the hell..." then proceed to head to the benches. As we gain a distance away, my sister bursts out in giggles. I start to laugh too, shrugging for some reason. "But I'm bi, does that count?" I whisper, but my sister just shrugs.

Let me tell you that I am a guy, yes, but people mistake me as a different gender at times. It's quite hilarious. Well, too much since I just start laughing in front of the person and they look so confused. Like that one time I was in line for lunch with my sister and a senior behind me asked, "Are you guys sisters?" To play along, I just said yes.

It was hard to hold in my laughing and my sister just stares at him. As the line shortens, he asks me again, "...Wait a minute, are you brother and sister?" By that time, I was already walking inside the cafeteria before my sister shouts, "Yeah!" At one point, my own uncle thought I was a kpop idol and asked me if I was really Vietnamese.

Yeah uncle, even if I look Japanese or Chinese or Korean, I am Viet for your information. Same goes to you Kyle. Yes, Vietnamese is a race. Japanese and Chinese people aren't the only Asians in the world. Why do people think that way? It might not apply to you readers, but it does to many, many others.

I realized how awkward I was in first grade.
