Joohyun, to many people, is known to be a very cute bubbly girl. she is always smiling and really loud and happy. (sometimes too loud). to many adults, she is seen as extremely polite, always bowing and speaking formally and saying thank you for every little thing. her parents had taught her always to be grateful for everything no matter how small, and joohyun had kept that lesson close in her heart. She tries not to to receive too much and much rather give out more, so she would often pay even when it means that she would get nothing for herself. she is also quite selfless, often taking the blames for others because to her, as long as she can make anyone else happy, she is happy. one of goals in life is to make other people happy to the best of her ability which is why a lot of people always go to her with their problems and issues. she would always do her best, staying up  to dawn trying to help solve their problem and make them happy again. because of her selfless and empathic personality,  a lot of people are quite close to her, but there are always some people who use her just for their own personal gains. 

joohyun is a type of person that does not give up no matter how hard things get (even thought sometimes she secretly wished she did). she always gives her 110% in everything she does whether is practicing or cooking for a friend. her hardworking nature is what led her to be who she  is today. on the contrary she could also be very lazy, often procrastinating on school work (even though she does know better). she is often seen eating out more often because she is way too lazy to cook herself, but she tries not to be and slowly she is getting better at not being lazy. because of her procrastination though, it would often to lead to a huge amount of pressure on her when he is trying to finish all the word that is due the night before and because she is weak under pressure, she would often break down and  spend hours crying feeling a failure, but with the help and comfort of fellow trainees and friends, she would overcome her despair and work hard. she is known to cry easily, often being dubbed as a "cry baby" for crying whenever shes happy, mad, or sad, and anything in between. she tries not to, but sometimes she can't help it. 

Joohyun's type of humor is often full of sarcasm and she would sometimes be dubbed as mean even though she doesn't mean most of the things she say. she also has quite a confident manner often complimenting herself hence why some people would call her vain, but she was always taught to love herself and always be proud of everything she does. it keeps her from not dwelling too much on her mistakes and pushes her to do even better. because she is so self confident and self-assured, she can be quite stubborn if she believes that she is right. she is not someone who easily backs down and she won't go without putting up a fight.  as stubborn as she is, if you manage to convince her that she is wrong, she will put her pride up and apologize. even though she is stubborn, she knows that she is wrong sometimes too. 

all in all, joohyun is a great friend that is always there no matter when and no matter what. she will always do her best to make people happy no matter what she is going though or how busy she is. even though she makes mistakes (because hey, she's only human too), she does her best to learn from them and becoming a better person. she sometimes is seen as rude with her sarcastic humor but she really hopes people don't take it the wrong way. she does not have any ill intentions and will always do her best to help others. despite her flaws, she is someone many hold dear too because of her good qualities. well that's it for  eclare's joohyun!

on the windy winter night of january 26th, 1997, james cho and Janie kim were gifted with their first child,  a little girl they named jennifer. as a child, joohyun, jennifer's korean name,  was always a big trouble maker, using her mother's lipstick and cutting her own hair with scissors, but her crazy antics were loved by everybody in the family, especially her grandmother who would watch her often while her parents were at work or out. she started school early, being enrolled in a korean preschool where she learned a lot about hangul and numbers and shapes and colors. she was always excited to learn, often showing off her newfound knowledge to her grandmother when she came home to her grandmother's from school, before her parents picked her up from her grandmothers house, usually asleep and tired.  this didn't mean that she didn't have a close relationship with her parents. she loved her parents dearly and did everything she could to be a good child. she was often seen helping around the house especially after her baby brother was born. she tried to be a good big sister. when she was eight, her grandmother passed away due to a failed liver. joohyun was devastated as she was like her second mother. as he grandmother wished before she died, joohyun continued to pursue her passion in music, never forgetting her grandmother during every performance she had. 

from a  very young age, every one could tell she inherited her parent's musical talent, starting the piano at the age of 5 and constantly singing along with the tv and radio. in elementary school, middle school, and high school she would be in whatever musical group they had, whether it was choir or band. joohyun loved the  heat  of the spotlight and  the cheer and applaud of the crowd after a successful performance. it made all the struggle and hard work she put in during practice worth it. she knew that performing was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. she planned to be part of a professional orchestra or band. her parents supported her with that dream because it was what they did for a living too, but they knew that whatever she wanted to even if it wasn't music related, they would have supported her too.

october 3rd, 2012, - that was the day sm entertainment was hosting their international auditions in  san fransisco, california, united states of america. Joohyun wasn't planning to go, but her friend who was going was quite nervous to go and asked her to audition with her for moral support and as a good friend, she agreed. at the auditioned, she performed "Love rain" by Kim Taewoo , a song she use to sing with her grandmother before she passed away in memory of her. the emotions in the song and her melodious voice blew the judges away and she was chosen to be one the new trainees. her friend, on the other hand did not pass. being the good friend she was , she decided not to become a trainee, but her friend insisted that she do  it and as always her parents supported the idea of her becoming an idol, and with the blessing of her parents and her friend, she left  her hometown for seoul, south korea where she became a trainee under sm entertainment.  on october 14th, she was officially on her way to becoming a a part of the girl group eclare.
