From Captain to Private
Alright, my lovely readers. I have been mentioning some major news about what's to come for a while and I am now able to talk it. It's good news for me, but maybe not the happiest news for my future on AFF. Drum roll please!!!
I have joined the Army!
Since I came home from my vacation in July, I have been trying to get my life together. I decided I wanted to join the military and started talking to a recruiter and other things. If you haven't noticed (Which I'm sure you have) my chapter updates have been fairly slow since I came back from my vacation and that the reason why. First was talking to the recruiter, then it was studying for the ASVAB, and then it was that I had to actually take the ASVAB. After doing that, I had to pick my job and that was sooooo stressful. Even before I took the test, I was talking to my dad, who is retired Army, about that jobs that wouldn't and he helped me out without trying to pick a job for me. I picked and changed my mind and re-picked jobs for about a month, stressing my self out over it. When I finally picked a job, I had to go back to MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station) and take another test and then stay the night and take my physical the next day.
After finding out my scores qualitfied me for a job I had picked with my recruiter, I had another problem to face: The ship date. Long story short, the ship date was too soon for me. I didn't want to leave yet because of many reason. First, my dad doesn't come back from Afghanistan until after I would have left, second I would have missed Thanksgiving and Christmas and my nephew's first birthday, and third I had met someone and they said if I was leaving so soon, we would have to stop seeing each other in a romantic way. So my recruiter managed to get the ship date for me extended until very early next year. Yay!!!
After that, I had to go back to MEPS for the third time and stay the night just to swear in! On September 11th, the 14th anniversary of the biggest terrorist attack on the USA, I officially became a United States Army soldier. :) If you want to see pictures, go to my instagram (NewGenerationJ) and follow me maybe.
When I finished all of that, I had to start studying for other things and I have to do PT every day to stay fit and ready. So I've been busy non-stop.
So I've got 3 months to finish up Guardian Angel before I leave for basic training! Man am I nervous! I can't promise you anything, but I will try very very hard to complete Guardian Angel before I leave.
Before you all ask if this is the end of my AFF life, no. It's not. Basic training is three months long and after that, I will be going to AIT (Advanced Individual Training) where I will hopefully be able to get a computer and come back to making my stories. I can't give you a actual month of when I'll be back because it might be a while, but I will be back and I will write Up In Flames and other stories. Don't worry guys :)
Thanks for reading this and thank you for being supportive!!! Now, if you don't mind, I will go back to writing the newest chapter of Guardian Angel and trying to start my chapters for Up In Flames. :)
