( extra? ) :
to fit her nickname of a princess, mijeong actually looks like one. ever since young, she's been tauted as attractive - glittering almond-shaped eyes; milky-white skin; a smile that could melt the hearts of both boys and girls. wth new skills in makeup, mijeong has been able to elevate her status from the cute looking puppy-face to a literal goddess.

however, the most attractive aspect of her would be her hair. long, silky and black as midnight, people have literally come up to her and ask whether they could touch her hair.

however, on a much darker side, hidden by makeup, mijeong has a deep scar on her cheek. it runs from her ear and lips and had required over ten stitches. whenever she takes off her makeup and people ask about it, she simply shrugs it off, amplifying the air of mystery around her. the real truth is, mijeong inflicted that wound onto herself. it was after that incident and mijeong didn't want to be pretty anymore, she didn't want people to look at her anymore and she sliced her cheek with a broken shard of glass mirror. the wound has healed but the memory is still with her.

the deep end
"do you need some help with that?"
( plotline ) : the school idol.
( personality traits ) :
good: charming, eloquent, kind, courteous, amiable.
BAD: emotionally-detached, paranoid, cowardly, inhibited, resentful.

( elaboration ) :
magic.

the first thing that comes to mind when people think of han mijeong is that she is a walking disney princess. one of the reasons why is due to her very charming diposition. she has a way of interacting with people that leaves them feeling special. maybe it's the way she geniunely listens to every word they say or how she manages to include people, even ones that she's never met before, into conversations. there's a very likable yet sincere way of mijeong's personality that people can't help but love. she's the kind of person you would see comforting a random girl crying over her breakup with soothing words or the girl you'd find laughing over a lame joke that you made. she's just so friendly and nice that everyone wants to be around her.

her charms are amplified with her eloquent speech. unlike people who stutter, mijeong has always had a way with words. she's good at cheering people up and raising spirits. even when she doesn't like something, mijeong has a way of making it sound very nice and sweet. it's a special talent that even her mother is envious of. to add onto that, she's also very kind. she was kind before the incident happened and has become even kinder after it. mijeong feels like it's her duty to make sure people don't feel the way she did back then so she smiles a lot, helps whenever people are in need and would go out her way to just help someone.

even more so, she's very easygoing. she doesn't kick up a fuss, she's big on going with the flow, which defies people's expectations because they think her to be very high maintainance. but no, she's like, cool with everything. not only that, mijeong's incredibly polite and sweet, her manners are ones that are known throughout the whole city. literally, when she was seven, her friends' mothers would use her as an example when teaching manners. until now, she never fails to say thank you to anyone who helps her, even the workers sweeping the floor or the toilet cleaners. she's polite in her speech with elders, she's never seen cursing in public at all, she's literally flawless. there's no surprise to why people love her so much.

and maybe why people love her so much is because they don't see the true han mijeong that comes out when it's 2am in the morning and the one that she hides from the world, including her parents. a reason why she hides all her flaws is because she's a coward. mijeong would rather run away, hide her negative feelings, her scars, her pain all in a box and pretend it never happened than to actually face her demons. this is why she doesn't dare use technology, why she moulds herself into this perfect person. because she's cowardly. because she's so scared that the incident will happen again. if something like the past were to happen again, mijeong would just run - even if it hurt her mother and father, she would run away. because that's the kind of girl she is: a coward.

other than being a coward, she is very paranoid. this is a trait that stemmed after what had happened when she was sixteen. honestly, you can't blame her because it was such an invasion of privacy and mijeong can't help but be paranoid of everything. if she sees a light flickering in her house, she immediately thinks that someone is filming her. if she sees the third lock on her door is unlocked, someone's inside her house. if even one light is , mijeong thinks something bad will happen. these paranoid thoughts haunt her, even from the moment she wakes up to the moment she falls asleep. it's torturing, which is why she forces herself to ignore the voices in her head by keeping herself busy and perfect as her school persona.

also, she's very inhibited. she's unable to act her natural self because of her mental restraint. yes, her nice traits are sincere but she holds a lot back to herself, especially her paranoid thoughts and the fear that eats her back. she literally boxes up her fears and worries and moulds herself into this perfect girl, uses all her energy to show this happy positive side of herself because she's afraid that if she shows her fears, people will find out about what happened and she'll be humiliated. this is probably why she's very emotionally detached. she doesn't let people close enough to see the scars that she holds from the incident, doesn't let anyone see the scared little girl that cries herself to sleep everynight, doesn't let anyone know the reason to her scar on her cheek. yes, she does have friends but she keeps them at arms' length. she never lets them know too much. it's quite sad to think that people she consider her close friends don't even know where she went to school in seoul.

one trait that no one expected princess han mijeong to have is resentment. she's full of anger and hatred to the guy that made her feel like this. she is forever bitter that she will not enjoy her life because of this person, this monster, that made her feel that way. even the mention of his name can make her have a panic attack. she hates him so much and there's no way to let out her anger except to bottle it up and hide it far enough she will forget she even feels that way.

( background ) :

han mijeong was born to former beauty pagent queen, min seungah and businessman, han hyunjeong on the 21st of may. honestly, it was destined for mijeong to look beautiful - her parents had even been featured in a magazine for being one of south korea's most good looking couples. so, growing up, she'd always been in the centre of attention and well, in everyone's eyes, she deserved it. not only was mijeong beautiful, she was also incredibly kind and courteous. she was the girl that every boy loved and every girl wanted to be. in fact, she was gwacheon's very own angel.

and honestly, she loved gwacheon. the summer when she was seven would be the best days of her life. she remembered running through the forests, laughing as she rolled down the grass alongside her friends. she remembered building treehouses together, crying when one of her friends got hurt, playing games of pretend-cooking, dreaming of their futures together. they would stay up till 11pm (it was late back then!) to play with fireworks, to count the stars in the night sky and make up funny names for the constellations together.

until one day, when she was seven, her father made a decision that would change her life forever.

she was to move to seoul. previously, mijeong's father had been travelling between seoul and gwacheon, juggling his business in the big city and his daughter who his wife had wanted to raise in her hometown, but he'd felt exhausted and after months of discussion, mijeong's mother finally agreed to bring her daughter to seoul. mijeong didn't have any trouble fitting in - i mean, how could she? she was beautiful and kind and sweet and you could put in a forest and everyone would love her.

there was one thing that mijeong didn't expect and that was the amount of unwanted attention that she received. even walking down the store could cause her to feel uncomfortable with the number of leering stares, especially from men twice her age. the final straw came when she was sixteen and her computer webcam was hacked. she was already a well-known ulzzang in the community and guys, well, they wanted more.

mijeong never knew it but the webcam on her computer was always on. when she changed, when she danced around in her underwear, when she posed seductively for fun. . . it captured every single thing. the worst part was that she didn't even realize it until she was watching videos on youtube and an advertisment for a rauncy site caught her attention.

because it was her there. it was her face for that inappropriate site.

with shaky hands, she had clicked on the link and saw all her photos, all her private moments, all her videos shared. it was disgusting, horrible and a complete invasion of privacy, something that no sixteen year old should ever experience. for the first time in her life, mijeong hated the way she looked - it was because of her face, the pretty, pretty, pretty face that everyone wanted more of. without thinking, her head a mess of emotions, she smashed her mirror and slashed her cheek as deep as she could, hoping and hoping she could forget all the emotions that she felt.

she had passed out from the pain. luckily, her parents had been at home and after hearing the sound of glass breaking, they rushed up, to find the laptop open and their daughter lying in a pool of blood. mijeong was rushed to the hospital, where she was admitted for a week, under the close survelliance of the mental institute, 24/7 suicide watch. her parents went straight into action, mijeong's mother never once left her side whilst her father sued whoever was involved, bringing anyone and everyone who even viewed the website a large fine and bringing the person who hacked into mijeong's laptop to jail for ography.

yet, expectedly, mijeong was never the same. she couldn't even walk into class for the fear that they would find out about her video, she couldn't talk in class because everytime people looked at her, she was reminded of all those who had seen her with nothing on, she got panic attacks whenever she saw computers. her parents, wanting to protect her after countless therapy sessions that seemed useless, decided to send her back to her hometown, a small place where she could escape the worries and hopefully, regain happy memories of the place.

so, there she was, at seventeen years old, at her childhood hometown. to her parents, going back there was a blessing because suddenly, mijeong was okay again. she was smiling, she was kind, she was nice, she was almost back to who she was. (or so they thought. because mijeong was so scared, so paranoid, she built up a world of magic. she boxed all her negtive emotions, letting no one close enough to see the scars and showed her perfect, happy, bright, cheerful self. because it was easy to pretend it was okay and ignore all the pain and hurt and the humiliation and the fear that plagued her.)

(yet, she doesn't tell anyone that she locks the doors five times, takes five minute showers because she's so afraid, changes only when the lights are off and cries every night over what has happened.)

(because it's easier that way.)

( trivia ) :
"i don't believe in anything." mijeong is faithless. she doesn't believe in anything - friendships, relationships, love, religion, nothing.
"no, i'm not a dinosaur." she doesn't have a phone, laptop, computer, wifi, nothing. she doesn't even like going close to technology after what happened. for many, it's part of her charm - the princess who you need to schedule a meeting with in her planner.
"i'm not afraid of the dark." the darkness is her friend. she likes sitting in dark places where people can't find her.
"they make me feel protected." she really likes watching superhero movies. they give her a sense of justice and comfort because in the end, the villian always loses.  she wishes she could live in a superhero movie.
"I'M ON a diet." she's forever on a diet. it's 99% due to her mother because she's grown up hearing her mother whine about her weight. even though her mother has never controlled her eating, mijeong feels compelled to do so.
"mijeong, did you do your homework?" she lets people copy her homework bc she's nice like that lol.
"i'll be awake." she doesn't like sleeping. because the most torturous moments are when she's lying awake and the memories flash by her head and she can't stop thinking and thinking and thinking and she ends up crying the whole night. so, she tends to join as many clubs as she can, stays up late studying so when she falls asleep, she doesn't need to think.
"please don't touch." in the beginning, after she had just moved away, her friends used to send her letters and she kept them all in a box. but, after a few months, life got in the way and they stopped sending them. whenever she feels down, mijeong still reads their letters.
"animals are my best friend." mijeong loves animals so much that she once worked at a zoo. (the zoo's popularity skyrocketed by 120% because everyone wanted to catch a glimpse of the pretty girl who fed fishes to the penguins.) she feels a special bond with them. if you asked her, honestly, who her best friend was, she'd say her dog, taeyang, meaning sunshe named it that because well, he was her sunshine.
"HOLY , did you type that?" her handwriting is goals. it's beautiful and perfect and gorgeous and main reason why everyone wants her notes.
"if i take a photo with you, i'm gonna look like an octopus!" she doesn't take photos because she's afraid that people will upload them onto a social network site. she'll find some excuse, like "WHY ARE YOU TAKING photos of me? you're so much prettier!"  or offer to take the photo for them but never in the photo itself.

relationships ) :

MOTHER : MIN SEUNGAH (FC: SONG JIHYO) : FORMER BEAUTY PAGENT QUEEN : SUPPORTIVE, KIND, self-conscious, UNDERSTANDING
before the incident happened, mijeong had a very close relationship with her mother. she used to tell her mother everything and anything about her life and they could talk until unholy hours of the night. even when mijeong felt uncomfortable about the stares, it was her mother that shielded her from them. it's clear that seungah  was a good mother - after all, look at how wonderful and kind mijeong turned out to be. however, after the incident happened, things changed. understandly, her mother was worried about her, even to a point where she would tuck mijeong to bed every night and sit beside her until she fell asleep, made her breakfast and just showered her with love so she wouldn't feel fear anymore. and as much as mijeong wanted to talk to someone about her fears, she didn't want to burden her mother. she had already caused her mother so much trouble by moving back to their hometown and she heard her mother's late-night tears, crying over how worried she was about her only daughter. so, to protect her mother, mijeong kept it all to herself. they still talk to each other but like everyone else, mijeong doesn't let close enough to see her scars because she loves her mother and doesn't want her to worry anymore.

father : han hyunjeong (fc: kim jongkook) : businessman : determined, bad-tempered, friendly, tactless.

all of mijeong's positive traits are from her father. he's the kind of guy you'd find socializing with everyone in the room, dancing embarassingly on the dance floor, going with the flow. his only flaw would be his tactless mouth - literally nothing has been filtered through her dad's brain. he could go up to a lady and ask, "hey, did you get plastic surgery? you look totally different." surprisingly, he hasn't been punched yet. it may be because of his position or trophy wife but most likely, the fact that he puts it in a way that isn't offensive but just humourus. even though mijeong didn't really get to see much of her father when she was young, her mother drilled it into her head that it was because he wanted the best for her. so, mijeong had relished the little moments she spent with him. however, unlike mijeong, her father has a really bad temper. so, imagine his rage when he saw his only daughter, his precious gem being exploited on a website. without thinking twice, he had called up his lawyers at 10pm, paid them twice as much to sue everyone on the site. her father is now extremely protective of her, refusing to let her go to parties and doing a background-check on whoever she hangs out with. he might've contributed to her paranoia, as well, because he was the one who bought her five locks for her room and bought the thickest curtains, imported for turkey, for her.

squad goals : choi jinri, lee jieun, jung soojung : students
every school has their own group of popular girls and for gwacheon, it's none other than choi jinri, lee jieun and jung soojung. everyone knew that as soon as mijeong came back home, she'd be recruited to be a part of them. even though mijeong is friendly with most of the people in school, it is them that she is seen with most of the time. they're considered her "best friends", even though they only know the basics, shallow-depths of mijeong. starting with jinri, she's known as gwacheon's little troublemaker. despite her innocent and fresh looks, jinri's known to flirt around, have a thing for dating other guys, clubbing even though she's underaged. basically, she's a wild-child. she gets away with everything mainly because she's pretty, though mijeong has bailed out of from jail more than once. mijeong doesn't mind being friends with jinri because she's fairly nice and she doesn't ask much question. moving on, jieun is the town's fairytale. she used to be pretty overweight and chubby but the year before high school, she managed to lose all her weight and catapult herself to popularity. she's known to be very delicate and gentle, and out of the three, mijeong dislikes being around her because she's just too pure and it makes her sad. last but definitely not least is jung soojung. imported from america just two years ago, she's just very clueless about everything. despite her resting face, soojung is most likely seen to be confused 24/7 about what to say or what to do. even though they all have different personalities, they just click. it's weird.
the interview
"tell me all about yourself."
( so - what's your favorite memory from the summer you were seven? ) : (she laughs brightly, whipping her head back.) tons! like the time we dressed up as cartoon characters using random stuff around the house and acted scenes out. or the time when we built the tree house together but we forgot to build a door, and it was bad enough until someone farted inside! it was so smelly yet no one would own up to it, so the leader made us sit down and identify our own farts! (her eyes glitter with excitement, as she bites back laughter.) or the time i was moving away and they made me cake. even though it tasted salty, it was still one of the best things that someone has ever given me.
( what'd you think of the kid with the clubhouse - shin haewon? ) : (she smiles blissfully, gently playing with her fingers.) i like to think that i loved him. he was someone i considered a true friend and someone i used to keep in contact with. we used to be the kings and queens of the forest, running around like we owned the place. he made me feel happy. and even if he doesn't recognize me anymore, i'll always be thankful to him for those memories.
( can you drive? like, legally? ) : yes, i can. do you need a lift somewhere, love? (she blinks repeatedly.)
( how do you look back on that summer? ) : it was the best time of my life. i'd do anything to go back to that time to get away from everything of the real world. (there's a bittersweet smile on her face, as her eyes well up with tears.)
( qnd now you're reunited with all those people. how does that feel? ) : honestly, i don't know. (she lets out a laugh, one that is void with emotion.)  i wish i could be friends with them again because there's this part of me that thinks that if i do, then, i'll be able to be seven again and be happy again. but then again, i don't think so. (her lips are in a taut frown, as if wanting to say more but not.)
the romance
( love interest ) : park jinyoung. (17)
( backup ) : applicant.
( gender ) : m

( personality ) : park jinyoung is a sweetheart, enough said. to elaborate more, he's a geninuely nice guy - he's the guy you see helping old ladies cross the road, wiping the tears of young children and helping the lady next door find her lost cat. fortunately, it's not an act, it is in jinyoung's nature to help out and be nice to everyone. however, despite his niceness and kind heart, he is so incredibly naïve and innocent. he's so willing to be a nice guy that sometimes, he forgets to check the motive of the other person. not everyone in the world are as nice as jinyoung and sometimes, they simply want to take advantage. but jinyoung doesn't know that, bless that poor boy's heart.

he does have quite the confident exterior; grinning to everyone, waving, being friendly with yet little do they know, it is simply a hidden act. behind the confident, strong jinyoung is an innocent and insecure boy. jinyoung knows he isn't as handsome and he knows he isn't charming or funny. he's just park jinyoung, the nice kid that helps everyone out. despite the attention he gets from girls, it never increases his low self-esteem and it's sad that jinyoung feels this way. honestly, jinyoung has some body issues.

yet, he's a determined character. he never gives up easily - he knows he's not good so he'll keep improving. maybe he'll try this new skincare to get better skin, maybe he'll hang out more with mark, maybe he'll watch more gag concert. he wants to be the best and he's not afraid to work hard. he's incredibly determined. he's even determined to get over his speaking problems.

honestly, he's not good with words. he just clams up and his brain stops working and he becomes so incredibly shy. it probably linked back to his insecurities - he's always afraid he's going to say something wrong so he plays it safe. he hides his thoughts and true feelings behind that confident laugh and teasing remarks.

( meeting ) : if mijeong is the school's first love, jinyoung is her male counterpart. one of the most popular boys in school, it was only a matter of time before they met. ironically enough, their first encounter was at an animal-shelter. both had been volunteering for the same reasons: they wanted to give back to society. jinyoung had heard all about mijeong but words didn't even do the girl justice. she'd been kind and sweet and just perfect that it made jinyoung scared because people aren't supposed to be this perfect. it was when he looked into her eyes that he realized: perfect princess han mijeong was ed up and she was scared and sad and unhappy, just like he was and he wanted to help her. he wanted to save her.

( interactions ) :
like every other person in her life, she kept jinyoung close enough so that he wouldn't get supsicious but far enough so she wouldn't get hurt. however, jinyoung had a way of snaking his way into her life. he'd meet her every morning on the footsteps, waiting to share his music with her. he'd walk her to classes, even if they were halls apart. he'd tell her how pretty she looked and smiled at her like he meant it. (and mijeong's been used to a lot of attention but when jinyoung looked at her like that, it felt right. it felt nice.)

it was when they were on the soccer field and a ball was coming straight at mijeong and she didn't see it but jinyoung stepped in the way and got hit on the eye, in order to protect mijeong that she felt her walls falling down. he was willing to get hurt for her. for the first time in her whole entire life, especially after that incident, he made her feel safe. so, slowly, she began to show more of her real self to him. it started with her telling him where she was previously from and in return, jinyoung shared secrets of his own - his issues with his image and his weight.

mijeong finally, after so many years of suffering, felt safe. and when she was snuggled in jinyoung's arms, wearing his hoodie that was too big for her frame, she felt happy. so, it was no surprise that she started falling for him. she let him hug her in public, let him feel the scars of her cheek in private, let him see the mijeong that she carefully packed away. in return, jinyoung tells her about his past experiences at therapy, at fat camp, being bullied.

yet, despite their close relationship, both are too scared to do anything. mijeong doesn't want to get hurt, mijeong's a coward and jinyoung's too insecure to do anything because this is han mijeong we're talking about. the legendary han mijeong, the first love of all the boys in the school. how could someone like that ever love him?

( relationship ) : kinda described above?? idk what else to say omg. ; ;
