NICKNAMES ☆

— mimi ; what most people call her, derived from her name.
— pigtailed piggy ; for two reasons. she usually ties her hair up in braided pigtails and she eats A LOT.
— rebel ; despite being in the 5th caste, she interacts freely with the other castes, but she prefers the company of those in the lowers castes most. that's how she met Mari.

— nice voice unnie ; the kids at the orphanage call her this because she always reads stories and sings for them when she visits.

BIRTHDAY October 11th, 1997
CASTE UPON BIRTH ☆  5th Caste
CURRENT CASTE ☆ 2nd Caste. Upon joining the selection, she was upgraded to the 2nd cast.

job ☆ Yemi just graduated from high-school and now she sings at a club and plays a few small roles in musicals. she majored in vocals because her parents are also veteran performers and as the oldest child, they expect her to follow in their shoes. however Yemi actually has interest in other genres of music. it's not that she hates musical style singing, in fact she loves it. but she also loves to try singing different types of songs. and lately she's taken an interest in dance. she hasn't told her parents because she doesn't want to disappoint them but she sneaks out to a dance club at night and when she's alone she practices her dance moves. and that's not her only secret. Yemi has actually been hiding the fact that she secretly wants to be a writer. she has been writing her experiences in a journal. her parents think that it's just like a diary thing. but she's actually documenting the different experiences she's had interacting with the different castes, keeping them in case she ever decides to write a book about how the whole caste system is just a piece of . she doesn't really want to be a celebrity, she just wants to polish her talents as much as she can. but The Selection changed that. now that she's one of the finalists, she's basically a celebrity.

LANGUAGES ☆

— Korean ; native. coming from a middle caste, she didn't really get the opportunity to learn the old languages.

FACE-CLAIM ☆  Jung Yein of Lovelyz
BACK UP ☆ Kang Seulgi of Red Velvet

FASHION STYLE ☆  despite her parents being quite authorative figures in her caste, she prefers not to dress lavishly with branded clothing the way most teens in her caste (and a lot of the upper castes) do. some celebrity wannabes in her caste even throw tantrums if their parents - who are just barely making enough money to make ends meet - don't buy for them all of those expensive luxory items. (she pities those kids and the upper caste kids because once they're no longer minors, God only knows how they're gonna survive without having their parents' money to fall back onto if they fall to lower castes.) she dresses simple and only fancies up when she has to attend serious events. she doesn't like to wear revealing clothes, especially not if it's for the sole purpose of attracting the attention of men. like, why the heck should she have to wear something tight/low-cut/short for the pleasure of those erts? which was why she was totally against the dress that her mother sewed for her for The Selection. but since her mom had already spent all that money and time on making on the dress, it would be a waste not to wear it. she liked the fact that it was long (some people literally came dressed like hookers) and she loved the galaxy-star design but she was slightly uncomfortable with the sleeveless, dip-necked design.4aff8482c56c728d1e12aa255192a356.jpg(the dress she wore). one prince in particular seemed to notice her squirming in her own skin. he laughed during the introductions when she curtsied but made sure not to lean over too much xD. afterwards a palace servant passed her a suit jacket. she looked around and finally made eye contact with one prince who was only in his button-down shirt now, the jacket he wore now held in her hands. she bowed gratefully at him before gasping when she finally realised who he was. Hoseok simply smiled back at her. her gave still showed the expression of shock, her gaze never leaving his face, as if not believing what she was seeing. and he just stared back at those familiar eyes that still shone brighter than the stars etched on her ball-gown. little did they know the cameras were watching the whole thing. there goes any hope of her wanting to leave the Selection without getting too much attention.

APPEARANCE ☆  current hairstyle: naturally long and wavy. she prefers to tie her hair up unless she feels lazy to do so of if she's singing at a club and wants to hide her face from all the erted drunk uncles. usually ties her hair up in a tight top bun, especially during musicals. otherwise her hair would be in two neat pigtails. she doesn't cut her hair that much only like once in a few years if it gets too hard to manage. she doesn't go to a salon she prefers to save money and cut it herself of get her mum to do it for her. when her stylist wanted to give her a cut you should have seen the face she gave him. her hair is naturally dark brown.

she has a very sweet face, her eyes disappear when she laughs and people always say she looks like the prince Jeon. she rolls her eyes at that. for some reason people always say she looks like guys. "like hello? are you brain-missing? i'm a girl, for God's sake.". she and prince Jungkook are the same age but their interactions during The Selection were hardly romantic. they were friends, close ones. but Yemi always teased Kookie for being completely smitten by Mari. Mari being her bestfriend, she always warned kookie that if he hurt her bestie he would have to face her wrath. well, jungkook would just throw back teases about Yemi and Hoseok, that would shut her up. xD

her height is 159cm (kinda short, yeah. but she still chooses sneakers over heels all the time) and she weighs about 46 kilos.

THE REAL ME

PERSONALITY ☆

outspoken, strong-willed, independent, quirky, caring, friendly, slow, filial/loyal, temperamental, easily distracted, actually kinda introverted.

Yemi is a very outspoken individual in the sense that she was never afriad of voicing her opinions. she obviously got into a decent amount of trouble because of that, especially when she openly states that she was against the whole casting system. she was even threatened to be arrested before but due to her parents' influence, she was able to escape getting jailed. but ever since then she had to keep silent about her abhorrence to the system. but that didn't keep her from spreading the 'rebellion' privately. most of her friends were all roped into being against the system due to her influence. she even taught her younger siblings to stand up for equality and whatnot.

she is also a strong-willed person who doesn't give up easily. when she's faced with an obstacle, she finds a way to overcome it. it would be a lie to say that she doesnt get put down once in a while, but everytime she gets put down, she finds a way around it and comes back stronger. she understands that failure is part and parcel of life so if she practices (be it singing, dancing or writing) and finds that she's still not good, she doesnt lose hope but keeps trying because practice makes perfect. of course, she also had motivation from her family and friends.

Yemi is an independent woman who can stand on her own. ever since she got a part-time job in high-school and started earning her own money, she stopped asking her parents for allowance. she also tried to chip in for the family every once in a while. she's smart with how she spends her time and money and she has always had the belief that she don't need no man to support her. but when her father had to retire and she needed to earn more money to support the family because her mother wasn't earning enough (paying for 2 kids' school fees while handling bills is no joke), she had to joing The Selection. she hated the idea that she had to succumb to the one thing that made the caste system so apparent. to her, The Selection was a symbol of the caste system and she hated it to the core. in fact, she never even watched TV much which was why she didn't know that J-hope was a prince until she saw him that first day.

this girl has a quirky personality. when people tell her that she's weird she simply looks at them and says "well weird is the new awesome so thanks~" she has a weird sense of humour and likes anyone who can make her laugh. she likes to pull pranks on her siblings and sometimes even the kids at the orphanage. (there was once she acted dead and the kids almost called the emergency hotline).

she is also a very caring person with a kind heart. she spends her free time volunteering (helps to cook meals and entertain the kids) at the orphanage and with the 8th caste, even though people always say she's borderline psycho to hang out with the mentally disabled people. to that she'd simply say "well, i don't know, man. sometimes i kinda feel like they're more sane than most people" while giving a pointed look at the person. "crazy" people to her are just people who are outcasted by the society because of the unique way in which they see the world. these people should be appreciated. not thrown into the lowest caste and treated like scums.

Yemi is a friendly person who likes to make new friends whereever she may be. people always feel comfortable around her unless they dont agree with her 'rebellious' ideas. she especially likes to reach out to shy people, which was how she first made friends with Mari. she frequented Joongki's bakery. (more in backgraound).

Yemi is horrendously slow. especially when it comes to feelings. but even in normal things like understanding a joke. but tbh sometimes she doesn't even find the joke funny but she just laughs to make the person telling the joke happy. it's quite hard to make her laugh which was part of the reason why Hoseok found her interesting. she always had this serious expression despite only being 18 (well, almost 18. but 19 in korean years whoop~) but when he finally managed to make her laugh, he vowed make her smile and laugh more often. because God knows what her smile does to him.

she is also a very filial daughter to her parents, which is why she has taken on so many responsibilites as the oldest in the family. she always tells her siblings to chase their dreams when she herself supresses her passionsjust to make her parents happy. little does she know all they want is for her to be happy with what she's doing. she's also a loyal person who sticks to her words no matter what.

Yemi would deny it vehemently, but she has a short temper. She can get angry at the smallest of things. She's usually all bubbly but trust me, you do NOT wanna be there when she blows. Once this girl loses her last straw, all hell will break loose and even Hades himself would cower in fear (if he actually existed which well he doesnt lol). But usually when she gets mad, it's not because of that one thing alone. It's a bunch of stuff that she's been holding in and that last thing was just the trigger. The last straw.

This girl is a daydreamer. You can be talking to her one moment and the next she's staring at god-only-knows-what. It's not that she doesnt wanna have the conversation. She just finds it hard to concentrate on a single thing sometimes. She tried her best to pay attention to people but sometimes this personality of hers gets the better of her.

Despite her lively, friendly & outspoken attitude. She's actually an introvert in her own right. On days that the candidates dont have any work to do, she'd rather sit in her room reading or writing or spending time with her maids. She likes to dress them up and braid their hair for them. She always says they'd make far better princesses than she. But there are also times when she wants to be alone, with her thoughts. On those days she can seem a little closed off because she doesnt let anyone be with her. Her maids are understanding enough to let her be alone when she's in this mood. She feels bad, but really. Everyone needs some 'me time'

my life story

BACKGROUND ☆

CHILDHOOD & TEENAGEHOOD: on the 11th of October, a brand new light was brought into this world. born in the 5th caste, no one really expected much from a 'lowly' member of society like her. but this girl was destined for greatness. they just didn't know it yet. her parents loved and cared for her as much as they loved each other. and seeing how happy she made them they decided to have more kids even though they weren't sure if they could cope with it financially. so she was blessed with 2 annoying little brothers, both of whom were growing up to be charming young men. she was proud to be their oldest sister.

as  a child, she was abviously a smart kid. she did well in school and was friendly to everyone, even if they came from different castes. she was well loved by her peers but she also had a few people who didnt like her due to her apparent 'dontgivea' attitude to the whole caste thing. girls from higher castes that she befriended would ignore her upon finding out that she was from a lower caste. it saddened her, how superficial everyone was in a system that drew such clear lines between the rich and poor, the beautiful and ugly, the smart and so-called 'stupid'. she was determined to erase those lines, muddle them up till they no longer existed. ever since she was 13, she had a mission plan to make sure that the stupid caste system fell. she wanted to be a writer. she wanted to write and spread the message of a so-called 'rebellion' against the caste system. but certain things got in the way and she couldn't pursue writing.

it was through the support and encouragement of her parents that she frequently volunteered at the orphanage, reading stories to the kids there and helping to cook meals for them. she loved her parents a lot and couldn't imagine a life without them. once, during an attack, her father almost died. he survived but he could no longer perfprm in the musical industry because he had lost his mobility. now he can only instruct plays but even that is tiring for him. so that her father could retire comfortably, Yemi began taking on more responsibilities, pushing her ambitions aside for the sake of a more stable income.

even in her last few years of high-school (just before her father became immobile) she started taking on part-time jobs. mostly waitress jobs or singing at a few pubs once in a while. her parents were a little under the waters financially, and she needed to help. her dreams would have to be put on hold. not that she ever discussed them with her parents. she knew that they wanted her to follow in their footsteps and she didnt want to disappoint them. whatsmore if she really did become a writer she would have to switch castes, and she hated the idea of leaving her family and living amongst those higher castees who walk with their noses in the air.

from the start, her parents brought her up to be a good person. they always told her that she was wonderful and just as good as anyone, even those in the upper castes. they always told her to respect everyone no matter what caste they hailed from. they were truly the ones that instilled in her the principles that define her as a person. although her parents are against the way the caste system separates the community, they are also law-abiding citizens that do not dare to stand up against the authorities. but they knew that they're daughter was different. riiight about the time she got arrested for it. (more below)

the experience of almost losing a loved one made her realise how devastating it must be to be left alone in this world. this increased her passion for volunteerism, especially towards the orphans, many of whom were orphaned due to attacks. having almost losing a loved one herself, she knows how it feels. she wants to give the kids there the love that they lost, or perhaps the love they never got the chance to receive.

DISCOVERING DANCE: when she was almost 16 she stumbled upon a dance club. it was her first time being in such a noisy atmosphere. she didn't like it at first since she was much more of a person that enjoyed the quiet. but there was something in the music that made her want to move. her feet subconsciously led her into the club where she found a mass of heated bodies, moving in rhythm to the music that was thumping so loudly she could feel her heart accelerating. she made her way to the centre of the club where a circle was formed. at the centre of the circle of people stood one boy. maybe a few years older than her. he called someone out and two pretty boys emerged from the crowd and sauntered into the centre of the circle. one of them winked in her direction. ugh. flirt.

her attention returned to the taller, older boy again. he was whispering something to the other two. they nodded in understanding and the tall one - apparently the leader - called the DJ's name. the music suddenly stopped for a second before another beat fillwed the air. immediately the 3 boys starting moving to the music, keeping up with the rhythm in perfect sync. then the leader stepped out and did a solo freestyle. she was absolutely captivated by them. the leader, especially. he seemed to not even be there when the music started. it was as if his body and soul had become one with the beat.

maybe she was delusional but she thought she saw the guy glancing at her once of twice during his performace and maybe a few times afterwards. or maybe he thought she was some creepy stalker. she really hoped that wasnt it. she wanted to approach him and befriend him but she realised that it was almost her curfew and so she ran back home, never getting the chance to say anything to him.

for 3 nights after, she visited the club again, hoping to see him there. but he, and the two other boys, were nowhere to be seen. on the third night she tried asking a stranger if she knew where the 3 boys from 3 nights ago were. "oh, the Princes? they only come here when they're free" the girl answered. Yemi figured that 'The Princes' must be the name of their group or something. she thought it was a pretty lame name. after all, she never really liked the royalty. not that she knew them. she just didnt like them for continuing to run the whole caste system.

even though she didnt find them those nights, she absorbed in the atmosphere. she learned a few basic dnce moves too. it was fun, trying out something new. she found that she could appreciate music more now that she saw how it can become one with the body. she wanted to learn to be as good a dancer as that tall stranger. that was a little personal goal of hers, now.

the morning after the 4th night she went to the club but didnt see the boys, she had already resigned herself to acceptting the fact that she probably might not meet him again. she was kneeling down and tying her laces outside of her house when someone jogged by. she didnt give it much notice since she was still sulking about not finding the boys after 4 nights of searching. but then she saw from her peripheral vision that that person was jogging backwards back to where she was. she started to get worried. her mother had just warned her that some rapists were on the loose. she held onto her shoe that still wasnt tied on, getting ready to pull it off in case she needed a weapon.

"hey!" came the cheery greeting. Yemi raised an eyebrow before she lifted her head to see who it was. fell open at the sight. the boy laughed in response. "you're that girl that was at the dance club a few nights ago, right?" she nodded, unable to speak, still trying to process how the tall stranger she had been looking for all this while had suddenly materialised infront of her. "going for a jog?" he asked, nodding at her running shoes. she shook her head to clear it before answering "yeah...". she tied her laces up and stood, doing her stretches. she feels alittle awkward, not knowing why the boy was still standing there, watching her every move. this was starting to get creepy.

"wanna jog together?" he suddenly offered. she swooped up from bending over to touch her toes to look at him. "oh uhm... okay, i guess?" he smiled and started off, waiting for her to follow. "i'm Hoseok, by the way. Jung Hoseok," he introduced himself. Yemi laughed and he cocked an eyebrow at her. "i'm Yemi. Jung Yemi."

GETTING ARRESTED: it was her last year in high-school. she was just going about her day normally. she somehow met with a member of the 2nd cast. this girl, Kim Hyuna, she was quite well known. she got lost in the city and somehow ended up in the 5th casts' district. she asked for directions and Yemi, being the ever-helpful person that she is (which got her in trouble more  times than i can count), happily offered to bring her there personally.

Hyuna was shoked, obviously. "what caste are you from?" she asked. "This one." Yemi answered. "Then why are you offering to take me home as if it's the most normal thing on earth? you know that castes dont mix!" Hyuna was appalled. Yemi rolled her eyes at the girl's reaction. "to be honest, i find this whole caste thing stupid. if the government wants progress for it's citizens then we should be able to interact and collaborate freely with each othe, not be confined into the invisible walls of our districts. i swear one day i'm gonna overthrow the government" she just let it aaaaall out. of course Yemi was just joking about the whole take down the government thing. well, half joking. but hyuna gasped and immediately ran to the nearest security station to report her. (her phone battery was dead so she couldnt call the authorities)

the cops came and Yemi was detained until her parents came to bail her out later. due to their authority in the creative industry of the 5th caste, the cops allowed some leeway, but warned that if there was a repeat occurence, there was nothing they could do. ever since then Yemi had to watch what she said and did. her writing became a secret even more and she always made sure she didn't lose her journal.

CURRENTLY: now a grown adult of 18 years, she has to take on the responsibility of being the head of the house. after her father was attacked and could no longer work to support the family, she had no choice but to take on the role of bread-winner. but even with her multiple jobs, she still didn't have enough. one day she heard her mother lamenting about how her friends' daughters were going to join the selection and how she wished that Yemi would join too. Yemi refused. her mother knew she would, knowing how much the daughter hates the whole idea of the selection.

but then her mother always knew the right cards to play. her mother told her that she could join, but she didn't need to go all the way. joining meant getting famous. getting famous meant more money. even if she didn't become a celebrity, she would still get more job offers from higer-paying roles in musicals. that would help the family financially a whole lot (well tbh Mrs. Jung just wants her daughter to take a break from all the work and try and meet people. and hey, a prince wasnt too bad of an idea, right? but well Hana knows her daughter too well and she knows that the mention of more money for the family is sure to make her agree). so Yemi agreed to do it.

but in the back of her mind she was also thinking... if she gained popularity she could gain more influence. then maybe she could start spreading the message against the caste system. and hey, becoming a princess wouldnt be too bad either because that would literally make her a 1st castee. and what better way to influence others. she didn't want to become royalty so that she could be like all those snobby rich people that think they're all that. she wanted to be a One because she knew how much influence a One could have. if she could spread her ideas there, the possibilities were endless. but well, this was just a far-fetched dream. or so she thought.

imagine her surprise when she found that one of the Princes was one of her closest friends, Hoseok. not only that: Hyuna was also a candidate. this turned out to be a very complicated twist with a whole lot of surprises.

FAMILY ☆

Mother, Jung Hana 43  oprah singer/performer/director  personality  Hana loves her daughter to bit.her first child and only girl, it's obvious that these two share a special bond. they share secrets like bestfriends. the one thing that Hana really wants is for her daughter to get a boyfriend (lol, moms) but she knows that Yemi is such a workaholic and she's so busy earning money for the family to have time for a relationship. but when she saw Yemi going for jogs with one of the princess, she was shocked, needless to say. and when Prince Hoseok met her for the first time and she gasped and was about to bow and call him 'your highness', Hoseok put a finger to his lips. it was then that she realised that Yemi didn't know that Hoseok was a prince. so out of pure innocent love, she asked Yemi to sign up for The Selection muehehehe.
Father, Jung Taewoon 49  retired playwriter/director  honest, strict, loving Taewoon is a loving, caring father to his 3 kids. he made sure that as they grew up, they got everything they needed. he's also quite strict in how he disciplines them. now 49 years of age, his only regret is that he wasnt careful enough. when he got attacked and almost lost his life, the one thing going through his mind was "who's going to look after the family now..." but now, even though he survived, he feels more useless than ever. with his oldest daughter doing most of the household work and dealing with the finances, he really regrets not letting her do as she pleased when she was younger. he actually knew of her passion for writing but he chose to keep quiet about it until Yemi was ready to reveal it herself. he regrets that now.
Younger brother, Jung Seungkwan 16 student over-the-top, attention seeker, act cute ☆  seungkwan, the second oldest, has always tried to act like a responsible adult but he's basically hopeless. well, not entirely hopeless, but you get me. seungkwan love his siblings very much, especially his sister. he always looks after her like an older brother and nags at her when she skips meals because of work. he even cooks for the family sometimes.
— Younger brother, Jung Chan 15 student bubbly, cute, annoying, bright the youngest, he is undeniably cute but he also has a masculine side to him. he is training to be an underground rapper. he loves his sis and treats her like a second mother although he's pretty childish when it comes to being nagged at by Yemi. he'll close his ears and say lalalalalalala.

FRIENDS ☆

Bestfriend, Choi Mari 20  works at Joongki's bakery  silent, timid, nice  at the bakery, when Yemi went to buy pastries. being the talkative person that she is, the moment she saw Mari and realised that she was about her age, she said hi and tried to talk to her but she remained silent. even though Mari didn't answer her and felt awkward, she still left smiling and waved while saying "see you next time!" she came back several times afer that, eventually Mari walked over with a piece of paper. "i can't speak" were the three simple words written. Yemi's eyes widened but when she saw Mari's expression change, she smiled. she took the paper and pen from Mari. "Hi, my name is Yemi. what's yours?"  twinsies-besties, Mari knows all her secrets. she's the only person that Yemi has ever told about her passion for writing. even though mari only communicates by writing, they enjoy each other's company and Yemi sings for Mari a lot, because Mari said she has a nice voice. after knowing that Mari was also against the caste system, they obviously bonded well. she wants to help Mari find her family. When Mari said that she was going to join The Selection, that was really when Yemi knew for sure that she'll listen to her mom and go for it too. she had to make sure that Mari was safe. God only knew what all those mean Selection candidates could do.
friend, Heo Youngji  20  singer  funny, crazy, cute, childish  they starred in the same musical once  friends that share the samejob so they understand each other well. Youngji is always there to lend a listening ear to any of Yemi's worries. she's sort of a sunbae in the field so she helps Yemi out a lot.
Friend, Jungkook  18  prince (but she doesnt know lol) mature yet playful at times at the dance club  they talked when they met at the club, seeing how they're the same age. kookie always brags about being older by a month and tries to get Yemi to call him oppa cos he's older but she just rolls her eyes and continues calling him kook. now that they're on the same TV program, a lot of people think they have something going on but really these two are just like siblings, squabbling all the time.

Reason for joining the selection ☆  her mum asked her to, also for financial reasons, political, and she had a hidden agenda too huhuhu (all details mentioned above) plus plus her bestfriend was joinging too so she just had to go.

life as a selection candidate   ☆

needless to say, the first time she entered the palace, she lost her breath. it was the first time she had seen anything so luxurious. but almost as soon as her admiration had come, it dissipated. and it was quickly replaced with disgust. if the government could afford to build a place with swarovski crystal chandeliers, it bloody hell had more than enough money to feed the poor and sickly in the lower castes.

in the palace, it took her sometime to adjust to the luxurious lifestyle. she would talk to the palace servants and treat them like parents since she cant see her parents as often now. the palace staff loved and cares for her like their own in return. the other candidates would just look at her with disgust when they see her talking and joking around with the gardener or maids. but when Hoseok comes and does the same they all act like they're helping the maids as well. pfft.

since she comesfrom the 5th caste which is quite a low caste, there arent many people that she knew prior to joining. due to her friendly nature, she tries to make fridnds with most people she meets but almost as soon as they find out her caste, they turn away. Anyway, the candidates were here to win the hearts of the princes. Not to 'waste' their time befriending some 'lowlee' castee. Hyuna was also a candidate. She was fighting for Hoseok too. That's how she got lost at the 5th caste that day. She had stalked him all the way there but Hoseok had managed to shake her off then she got lost. Hyuna obviously tried to stir trouble for Yemi especially since she saw how close Yemi was to Hoseok. She srarted to spread rumours saying that Yemi was just a gold-digger frok the first cast, trying to seduce the prince for his money. Yemi was offended when many people thought that was true and she wanted to speak up about it but just before she did, Hoseok spoke up for her. That put the other candidates it their place.

Like everyone, she treated the royal family with respdct and honour. She may not like the way they run the country, but she cannot deny that they ensure stability. And besides causing a scene while being broadcasted on nationwide tv... that would DEFINITELY get her behind bars. That wouldn't really help her family much, now would it? With Hoseok's side of the family, it was slightly different. She retained her formalities at first but when Hoseok's mother swept herinto her arms, she broke down. The feeling was so much like hugging her own mother and it made her realise how much she missed her And she wondered hkw the family was coping without her. She hoped they put the money she sent to good use. since then, Hoseok's family became a substitute of herown, but she still maintained the proper formalities for a while before they insisted that she dropped them. She could see how evenHoseok spoke less formally towards his family compared to the other princes. She admired that about him. That he was so joyful and spontaneous that everyone around him seemed to be positively affected by it.

she knew Jimin and Jungkook from the dance club. She also knew V because he came to the dance club on a few occasions. That kid was weird. She liked him. Like in a 'i wanna keep him in my bag andcarry him around' kinda way. not romantically. As for the other 3 older princes, they were new. Hoseok had mentioned he had 3 older cousins before but she didn't know much about them. She viewed Jin, the oldest prince(ss) as a very rule-abiding person. So it surprised her when she found out that he, too, was against the caste system. prince suga was sleepingmostof the time. But he seemed likeacool guy. Prince namjoon had an air of authority,  like a leader. But he also gave off a pretty swagvibeand hewas nice too. She wascomfortable talking to most of them, in fact, they were like the older siblings she never had. They treatedher as a friend/sister too.

life as part of the final seven ☆   she was surprised at first but then she realised that it wasnt really something she should be so surprized about. Hoseok had dropped several hints that he wpuld probably choose her if he had to choose someone. besides, he hardly interacted with the other candidates other than for political reasons such as talking or dancing with minister's daughters. Yemi hated to admit it but she got a little jealous sometimes. And watching him dance so gracefully and speak with so much class, it really made her think "ah.. he's a prince". it made her realise how different their worlds were. Yet how similar they were as people. But she really felt that she wasnt made for this world of luxory. But just once... she wanted to dance with him and act like all was right with the world. As if hearing her silent wishes, Hoseok quickly parted with the 5th girl he danced with (the finance minister's daughter) and walked over to her and offered his hand. She blushed at the gesture and saw all the eyes on her. She accepted but quickly whispered "im not that good at ballroom dancing". Hoseok smiled at her, his eyes relaying a simple message: trust me, follow my lead. They danced for the longest time and even if it was only for a while, Yemi was happy to be swept into his world. The world far away from her troubles and just filled with the music and moves, their beating hearts and slightly nervous steps that still overflowed with grace.

The palace staff were elated but they began to get more formal with her. If they started to speak to her formally she'd playfully pout and push them, telling them to stop it. So the palace staff only maintained their formalities when the cameras were around. But Yemi hated that. So sometimes she'd purposely put her arm around the ardener or hug the maid, even whole the cameras were rolling.

The candidates that wanted prince Hoseok too were furious. But a few of them were her friends, and they were happy for her, although slightly upset that they couldnt win the prince's heart themselves. But right from that first day, most of them already knew it was a done deal. Prince Hoseok obviously only had eyes for one person. The public respected her but there was a lot gossip about how she interacted with the palace slaves and etc. People were starting to spread rumours that she was against the caste system. Well, that was true so she didnt really care. Her history of getting arrested was also a hot topic on the tabloids. but she never paid it much mind. She just hoped that all the hate didnt rub off on her family.

PERSONALITY ☆  goofy, spontaneous, honest, hyper, he can do aegyo which Yemi finds fkn cute that she wants to pinch him but instead she reacts by acting like she's gagging ahahahaha. he tries hard to make Yemi laugh and even though sometimes he has to explain the joke before she gets it, when she finally laughs and her eyes disappear, he knows it's worth it. Yemi loves him for his patience with her and how he never fails to brighten up her day, even when she's on one of her moods. Needless to say he's freakin smokin when he dances so she cant help but want him. But besides that, it's the mere knowledge that he'll always be there, and he'll never force her to change. That's what has her head over heels for him.

RELATIONSHIP ☆  when they met after she first found out that she was part of the final 7, Hoseok was all cute. He was so shy and he was blushing a little. "Hey," he started. She smiled in return "Yes, Your Highness?". "I can hold your hand now, right?" He looked in her eyes this time. Now it was Yemi's turn to blush as she slowly held her hand out. Hoseok grabbed it, held it for a second, before pulling her into a hug. "Sorry, i know i only asked for permission to hold your hand. But i couldnt help myself," he whispered in her ear. She blushed hard, glad that her face was snuggled in his chest where he couldnt see it. Well, this was one perk of being short. "I could get used to this feeling" she thought as she hugged him back. He placed his head on hers and spoke, his lips touching her hair. "So could i." Yemi blushed even more because she didnt realise she said that aloud. She cupped her face "ahhh i think im gonna get a fever at this rate". Hoseok laughed and brushed her hair away before leaving his hand cupping the side of her face "hmm I wonder what would happen if i did this, then?" And he leaned forward and kissed her gently before pulling away and blushing himself. "I think im catching the fever too"

she laughed and turned his face to look at her. She stared straight in his eyes and he blushed even more. I cant believe he's mine. "Stop it! Im really gonna get a fever if you look at me like that!" He pouted playfully. Yemi shrugged. "Well, im already having a fever. I think im getting a little delirious too" she smiled cheekily. Hoseok's eyes widened. He had no idea she could make that kind of expression. He bit his lip. She tiptoed and wrapped her arms around his neck. He lifted her up just as her lips met his for the second time, the kiss deeper than the first, but still a little awkward, as if testing the waters. As if getting to know each other all over again. As if... as if seeing him dance that first night. And as if watching that strange girl in sweats that somehow stole his gaze even among the throng of girls in crop tops and high waisted shorts. they smiled amd parted the kiss, laughing that they felt each other's lips twist curve at the sides.

"I could get used to this, too. You should be delirious more often" Hoseok joked and Yemi punched him in the gut, making him put her down while he crouched in pain. "That's what you get for being a ert" she said and stuck out her tongue before walking away. Hoseok caught up amd grabbed her hand, turning her around. "I think im getting a little delirious myself," he said and she blushed. ugh, i cant when he smiles like that. This is so unfair. She closed her eyes as their lips met yet again. After holding back for 2 years, finally confessing their feelings... they both obviously had too much love for each other. And now that it was finally out there. They never wanted to let go of each other.

HISTORY ☆ they met at the dance club 2 years ago. Well, it was more of both parties having a staring competition. But neither approached the other. After the dance, Hoseok triedto find her but she had already left. It was totally by coincidence that the two crossed paths again that fine morning (refer to 'background'). They always fooled around like good friends. In fact, Hoseok was her bestfriend. Still is. She always tried not to laugh when Hoseok told a joke, just so he'd come up with some other way to make her smile. It was fun, fooling arpund with him like that haha. The thing that really made her fall for him wasnt that he was all smiles though. It was that behind that smile was actually someone who was mature, smart, and a good leader. She liked that he could joke around but he knew when to be serious and she could have nice, long conversations with him about anything. When she found out he was a prince she was especially surprised because she knew that he was against the caste system. She smiled at the thought though. That the future generation could bring about an evolution in the system.

the two of them went on to be friends outsied of the dance club. they often went for jogging/cycling together, and one of the reasons Yemi like him is because when she was volunteering at the 8th caste she saw him there, chatting with one of the patients with senile dementia as if it were the most natural thing in the world. from then they volunteered together sometimes. once when she was having her usual story-telling session with the kids at the orphanage, he sat down and listened with them. he acted like a child it was so cute omg you should've seen it.

Hoseok always treated her like a princess. He hid the fact that he was a prince, though. He always wanted to make them more than friends but he didnt feel that it was right for him to confess if they still had such a big secret between them. when the announcement that the selection was about to happen was made, he had made his decision he would confess. both the fact that he was a prince, and the fact that he was madly in love with her. but when she came out of her house for their usual jog that morning she was sulking. "what's wrong?" he asked. "mum's making me join some stupid TV show," she began. He raised an eyebrow. seolma... "it's called The Selection, you know the one where the whole country sends their women out as if we're meat up for grabs at the market. then the princes that think they're all high-and-mighty choose which piece of meat they want." Hoseok laughed and clutched his stomach. he smiled at her "well, you'll be in for a surprise. just wait," he said and started jogging away. "what do you mean by-" but he was already too far. "ya!! Jung Hoseok!! explain yourself!" she chased after him but he just kept on laughing. he just hoped that she wouldn't look at the other princes the way she looks at him. but to behonest Yemi was feeling a little sad. she hoped that Hoseok would be a little jealous about her joining the selection. but he seemed fine. well, when she found out it was just all the more hilarious.

although there are so many prettier candidates that keep flirting with him, Hoseok always only had eyes for one person. okay, maybe sometimes he'd see someone and think "oh. she's kinda hot". he is a  grown man, after all. but that was always on a superficial level. in his eyes, his girl was the most beautiful one there. and she shined brighter than them all. nothing would ever change that.

their ending ☆  well to be honest Hoseok finds this whole 'the prince must propose to the woman' thing bogus. like in his mind it shouldnt be a "will you marry me" kinda thing. it should be like a mutual agreement. which is why the way he proposed to Yemi was really unconventional xD and okay, i know Yemi is like, 19. which is a really young age to get married. but she's mature beyond her years. and well let's just say that ever since the two of them got officially together she's been having pretty distracting *coughs* naughty *coughs* thoughts about a certain tall, goofy prince and getting married was the best option for her right now AHAHAHAHA (im sorry Fei eonni, ignore my craziness XD)

"Hey," he smiled as he walked up to her. she was walking around the garden. she rolled her eyes and fake curtsied.

"how may i be of service, Your Majesty?"

"oh, come on~ cut it out with the 'Your Majesty' crap," he said dismissively while he held his hand out to her.

Yemi laughed as she took his hand into hers. "What's up J-hobiii~!" she said it the way the emcee would introduce him onto stage.

he narrowed his eyes at her at she bit her lip, holding back her laughter.

"hey," he said again.

"hey," she replied, smiling at him as she swung their hands together.

"you wanna get married?" he said to the point.

Yemi's eyes widened a bit before she folded her arms with a thoughtful look on her face.

"hmm...." she began. Hoseok felt a bead of sweat trickle down the side of his face. she looked at him and laughed at how nervous he was. "When?" she tilted her head to the side.

Hoseok jumped up and ran around the palace garden screaming "SHE SAID WHENNNNN" "OMG THIS IS BETTER THAN HER SAYING YES OMGGGG" he grabbed the gardener by the shoulders and pulled him into a hug. "WE'RE GETTING MARRIED!" he yelled happily. the gardener raised an eyebrow. "not me and you, that's for sure" he answered calmly. Yemi laughed. "ya ahjussi! how could you~" Hoseok clutched his heart and the gardener ahjissi just shook his head with a smile. Yemi watched as he pouted and poked the gardener playfully, being his usual goofy self. i can't believe he's mine. i can't believe this dork is gonna be mine forever.

As for their married life... omg these two are like the funniest couple in the whole world i swear. they pull pranks of the palace staff and they spend most of their time helping out at the lower castes. and when they're not plotting on how to abolish the caste system, they're working on ways to improve it, little by little, so that it won't be as much of a living nightmare as it used to be. they defy the laws, but that was one perk of being royalty. laws didnt apply to you. when they go undercover in the lower castes and nearly get arrested they just have to say their name and the guards immediately have to salute them. they still visited the dance club frequently, after all, they were both young, free-spirited individuals. Hoseok is also helping her write her book now. he even helped her pick a title.

"hey, what do you think we should name this?"

"hmm... how about~ the prince and the dancer?" he suggested.

"come on, be serious."

"okay, okay. how about... the princess and the dancer?"

"Hobi..." she warned.

"Mimi..." he mimicked.

Yemi closed the laptop and started to get up but Hoseok put a hand on her shoulder to stop her.

"okay, okay. i'm sorry jagiya~ dont be angry~" he pouted while making the bbuing bbuing gesture. Yemi rolled her eyes but she was thinking 'how can i be angry if you're this cute omg'.

she sat back down and opened her laptop. she raised an eyebrow at Hoseok.

"Okay. I got a good one. What do you think about 'The Selection' as the title?"

-

the two continued to be rebels in their own right (well they discussed actually becoming rebels on several occasions but decided that their authority as Ones could come in handy.). with the two of them and the other princes by their side, the future of Bangtan Kingdom didn't seem too dark after all.
