I just don't get it

Someone might think that I'm going crazy to write this kind of post but I really don't get it why are the authors deleting their stories because of a long or a short hiatus? I understand that there are times that we can't update the stories so often (because of work, study and so on) but why does it mean that we must delete them?

For example I really love to read old stories :D :D and most of them I've read minimum 10 times (yeah I know that I'm crazy) and now most of a time I can't find them because guess what? author deleted them because she's on hiatus or stopped writing them at all TT_TT

Okay I understand about the hiatus and stopping writing the stories but why delete them? why are they preventing us (readers) to read those wonderful stories????

Well Authors have the rights over their own works so I guess its up to them to decide to continue leaving the stories online after they go on hiatus. Like the MynnieYumi below said, maybe the authors dont want ppl to plagiarize their works since they wont be online much to monitor the fandom for thieves.
I know of some BL authors who deleted their works because of personal reasons (doesnt want their employer to know they are writing such fics or just started to get to know a religion etc).
Even if they are just on hiatus but not stopping writing completely, leaving incomplete stories hanging there when there is no intention of continuing it can be quite torturing for some readers.

This is my opinion.
It's because we, the authors, afraid of plagarism.
If we leave our stories for too long, those who are shameless, will copy it and make it like it's their own....
