It was Kyungsoo who started everything from the beginning.

He was the one who introduced himself to Jongin at age seven. He was the one to go up to Jongin and ask him if he wanted to date at age thirteen. He was the one who leaned in for the first kiss at age fifteen. He was the first one to ask if they could give each other their ities at age seventeen. He was the first one to get down on one knee and ask Jongin to marry him at age twenty. 

It was Kyungsoo who started everything, but Jongin wanted to do that too - so for their twelfth marriage year, he planned it so there would be a reenactment of what they thought was special during the years since they were kids. He was going to show Kyungsoo that he, too, could be romantic while not just receiving all the love - he wanted to give it back too.
