In Reply to: somerandomone (ft. a hate message and my response)

This is what someone messaged me the other day:

somerandomone Jun 9, 2015 02:27:14

you're one of the worst type of authors

like in Infatuation you first make a poll asking who would your readers like to top for and huge majority chosen jackson but then you completely ignored that majority and put mark as the top few times

what's the point of asking your readers about it if you're just going to completely ignore it and going 100% against what they voted for?

people like these are one of the worst types of authors, pretending to care what readers want just to ignore it all in the end

It won't let me reply to them....however, I did create a response that I wanted to post somehow (otherwise, it's a waste of thinking, right?)
My reply:

Uhhhh people voted for both still, so i ended up putting both. Due to the vast majority choosing jackson, jackson is usually top. I do care about my readers, actually. If i didnt, i wouldnt post updates thanking people for upvoting or do give aways to my readers just for being there for me.

I thought u were going to tell me im a crappy author due to my writing style...or just bcuz im not a good writer. That would've been acceptable. But for you to just message me with a hate comment accusing me of this is the lowest of the low. Who are you to judge me? You dont even know me, let alone what ive put into this story.

If you need to vent and just hate, go ahead, turn it towards me. But dont go sending messages like this to other authors. These types of things are the
exact reasons why authors can become unmotivated and even discontinue their stories.

Please be a little more respectful next time. Constructive criticism is great, but this rlly isnt. However, at least youre being honest.

(Dang, i got rlly excited that i had a message too *sobs*)

Don't even waste your time. The user's a troll. A pathetic one, at that. I received a random message from this person as well over a poll I posted. A. POLL.
Just let this person live out the rest of his/her lonely days in misery.

hold up... did this person really take some time out of their day to complain about mark topping!?! I didn't read your fic (not into got7, sorry, bet it's great though) but to me it sounds like he didn't top all the time, just a few times?! Like jesus christ, what are you doing with your free time? I can't even explain how bizarre I find this...

You tell 'em sis!
There such a fear that comes with being an online writer. And of course, you won't always get to satisfy everyone with what you wrote. But to say that you ignored the readers wishes? What bull.
As you said, people voted for both to top, so that's what you wrote. With Jackson mostly being the main top.
Constructive criticism is great. They point out flaws nicely, while saying what could be improved on and how. What you received was straight out rude and ignorant.
I was there when you were struggling with chapters, and handling school work at the same time (congrats on graduating once again ;) ) not to mention your job.
I love your story, so ignore that one little comment and keep on writing ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I had one poll and luckily it was just "one more chapter or not?" I made it clear the ending would not be as satisfying as the first since it was an addition to the original story more of a bonus....but two people voted no and I am haunted by why?! lol, Polls don't tell us what people are thinking so us authors who want to try to satisfy as many of our readers as we can are often left with the option of a. create a second poll or b. do the best we can to interpret the results. In my case those two votes were under 5% of the vote so I ignored it but for closer polls it only makes since to compromise. It does show you care about ALL the readers.

OMG THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME
so i made a poll about a shipping and i wanted to change the plot of the story, so i made a poll about whether or not i should change the plot. most ppl said no, but some other ppl said yes, so i made another poll asking whether or not they wanted to compromise and mash the ideas together and this one person commented the same thing. asking me why i would ignore the majority vote. like wtf? rude or what?
