Are there any perks to translating a fic?

So yeah, are there any???? ??????????????????????????????????????

See, today someone sent me a message asking me if they could translate a fic of mine into Thai

This is a first for me so I don't know if there's any perk or something to having it translated

While I do think it would awesome to do it, I'm not too sure about it

I mean, it should be okay as long as they credit me and have the original link to the fic, right?

Right?

I've had some fics translated multiple times and honestly, I like the feeling of knowing people (who I don't understand) liking my story. Sometimes I've had their comments translated OTL but yeah, spreading yourself thin over globe like that makes you more subject to plagiarism. be careful quq

Well one thing I do know is that ur story can be more well known. But idk since i heard from other authors about their fics being translated, but the translator edited some scenes that is not in the priginal one.

Tbh idk lol, i have only one pros about it and that's it, but If u want then i guess u better make sure that they don't do anything that can damage the story and it's reputation as well as urs.

Also there's this one instance where the translator let other 'translator' translate that story (um...i think i better explain tis properly. For example, this 1 Trabslator which got ur permission in the first place, translated ur fic. Then there's this one translator who also wanted to translate it in their language. So this guy asked the Trabslator if he can. The Translator said yes, without the author's knowledge. This sort of led to one plagiarism to another to the point where the orig author was forced to make the translators delete their 'translated version of his story' and only the original story which is in english remains, to avoid any plagiarism. The author doesn't allow any of their fics to be translated anymore.

So yeah just warning u that if u want to do it, then it's best to set all conditions by urself.
