Craft #40: My Molang polymer clay charm

You never ever stop after a failure. After the polymer clay tulip fail, I tried another tutorial: Sparkly Molang by ninjacupcakeclay in Sweetorials.

I used 1101 Pearl in Sculpey's Pastel and Pearl set instead of brushing the glitter + glaze mixture over my Molang charm as done in the tutorial.

Here it is:

This was taken last night so it's kinda blurry.

Thoughts:

Next time, I would make sure to flatten the piece evenly. Also, I would purchase clean wipes to make cleaning my hands easier. For some reason, no matter how many times I wash my hands, I still get dirt in them >_< Keeping the clay pieces clean took so much time and gave me so much trouble. It means I should learn how to shape my clay in just a few steps and avoid touching it too much. Another tip is to use nail polish remover to remove dust and lint from the charm. Handling tiny clay pieces was so frustratting at times. The eyes and nose took me forever. Attaching them to the main body demanded so patience. The tutorial videos I watched make it look so easy! And then the ears keep falling off -_- I remedied that by gluing the pieces together with Sculpey Bake and Bond.

In spite of all these, it was worth it. My Molang charm is cute, even with its imperfections. I would make more when the time permits. It's frustrating to discover what you are capable of and what needs to be improved, only for other things to take up your time >_<
