Day 24 ~ A Picture Of An Idol You Think Is Overrated
This is really tough because I don't think any idols in specific are overrated. It's so strange...I think that all idols get their share of fame (while some do more than others), and for us fans who truly see idols for who they are, we can appreciate their talent and personality.
So I don't really find any idol "overrated", per se.
Although I think I should mention something I do find overrated...
...uality.
What do I mean by that? Well, my prime example of this time of overrating...And basically my whole point...
Hyuna. Now, you're all like "WTF? Isn't she a bias of yours?" Yes, yes she is. She is quite pretty and I respect her musical prowess. What I don't like about Hyuna is the pressed uality that Cube and the stylists push on her.
Like think back to the days of the Wonder Girls' debut...when Hyuna was the rapper and main dancer for them. Remember that Hyuna? Cute bob cut, little dancing machine that liked to tease Sohee? The one that left because of illness? THAT Hyuna?
Compare it to now, and the biggest difference is the appearance. She's essentially the same person, just with a fraction of the clothing. So you see what I mean by "uality?"
Being dressed in skimpy clothing is not going to benefit the idol in any other way than gaining them e fans who will literally try to get in what little pants they have. Companies are pressing their girls to dress in tight, revealing clothing gain a fanbase and money is what I don't appreciate and find completely overrated.
It's not that I think Hyuna's overrated - it brings me back to my original point. But skimpy is not y. Revealing clothing isn't always y, but when you think of y you think of revealing clothing. Sultry is y, confidence is y...skimpy isn't. You shouldn't have to physically try to look y...it's just something natural that comes to naturally beautiful people. Today's society is so tightly wrapped around pressing uality on the masses, it makes it hard to distinguish true beauty from .
This is why I respect guys who respect that a girl is ier with clothes on rather than on the floor. They don't have to be grinding the stage or have their hanging out of their skirt or shorts or have to wear the brightest red lipstick. I think that since the age of dawn, girls have generally had more self respect than that (and if they don't, that's their personal choice, and I have no problem with it).
So let's review...what I find to be overrated is the expectancy that every female idol should weigh less than 105 lbs. in American weight, be at least 5'4", and have a nice and/or chest. No, I'm sorry, but the general mass of women in the world will never be those sizes (sorry, ladies, but we know its true). It's time that these companies start putting out idols who actually look like the people that listen to their music.
And P.S...that's why I freak out when a guy says he's looking strictly for personality or likes "bigger girls"...because the reality of it all is that the true definition of "y" doesn't have to require exposing every nook and cranny of the body to be noticed. It's all about a girl's real beauty...and my point with Hyuna was that because she's seen as almost a figure, guys (and some girls), can't see that beauty.
Look at the difference here...But once again, I really do admire Hyuna. I just find her ual nature to be overrated.
