Craft #s 31 to 38: Everything I made before my looms broke lol

Keeper's looms broke. Well, it did serve me well for these past four months considering I got both for less than a dollar in a local school supplies store. Haha! Time to get the rainbow loom one, I suppose. But I still have my crochet hook and I can use it to make loomigurumi (amigurumi using loom bands).

Instead of flooding you with posts, I decided to just lump them all together in one ^-^

Here's what I've made so far:

Crafts #31 - #32: The mini chocolate chip cookie and the mini oreo cookie

These are so cute >_< I like how small they are: 2.5cm in diameter ^-^ I made these using silicone bands. They are not stretchy but I like them better than the rubber bands sold at the store even though I had a tough time hooking them to the point that my loom collasped -_- Anyway, here's a close-up:

I followed Elegant Fashion 360's pattern for the oreo cookie to make chocolate chip cookie. But I will give credit to Emily Hill as well since I learned how to place the chocolate chips on the cookie from her. Below are the links to the tutorials.

Craft #33: Headphones charm

I am not supposed to make anything that day but I realized that there is this one pack of bands I hardly used. See, I wasn't thinking clearly when I bought it. Haha! I grabbed it because the color is so pretty >_< Anyway, I like how my charm turned out. I think I did a good job, considering I had to put so many layers of bands to give that padded look of real headphones. It's squishy too!

Craft #34: Kaleidoscope Turtle

The maker of the headphones charm, feelinspiffy, mentioned in the tutorial, how they were similar to the kaleidoscope shell of her turtle. And so obviously, this Keeper had to check it out. I mean, it's a turtle! A TURTLE! I like turtles ^-^ When I was three, the flood brought this huge turtle to our doorstep. I was six when we tried to have turtles as pets. It didn't work out because the cat ate them >_< And when I was fifteen, another turtle was swept into our lives. Wahaha!

The shell of my turtle looks like some sort of dumpling. It wasn't intentional. It's just that I don't have any other color packs with enough number of bands. Anyway, he's still adorable, looking so shy...

feelinspiffy uploaded another turtle tutorial today, the Happy Tortoise ^-^ And I'm going to make it... once I get a new loom ^-^

Craft #35-#37: Happy Popcorn, Happy French Fries and Happy Dango

Kya! I am so so HAPPY how my first happy foods turned out! My first is the Happy French Fries. I will take another picture to show you the back. It's curved and it's higher than that of the front. It looks like the real thing! I'm so proud of myself! (Not wanting to sound conceited, but... really... I fellt so good about myself after I made it.) I love how I could take out the fries from the fry box too ^-^ Love it! And it's squishy.

The second happy food I made is the Happy Popcorn. Boy. It was too late to realize that I chose a difficult one. Usually, I would watch a tutorial from start to finish to gauge the skill level needed to create it. I am aware of the limitations of my loom and my bands, as well. But after making the Happy French Fries, I was over the moon and... I believe my common sense and rational thinking came with it. Up and over. Gone. Also, before I loom anything, I download the video first. So that I could hit pause, rewind, fast forward, etc. with ease. Globe wifi is kinda crazy these days.

None of that happened. I made the Happy Popcorn the same time the video played. The strain it put in my loom had me holding onto it for dear life. After putting all those puffs, I thought the difficult part was over. BUT I WAS WRONG. I have to make those transition bands for the stripes in the box. You take one red and one white, loop them in a way tha one half is red and the other is white.

I had never made anything so difficult in the loom HAHA That's why even though I love french fries more than the popcorn, I'd say that my favorite happy food is the Happy Popcorn. It was worth it though. My Happy Popcorn is so cute and squishy xD

Because I was kinda reeling from all the puffing and transitioning, I looked for an easy tutorial. The Happy Dango! It's a Japanese dumpling ^-^ But it's not so easy as I thought it would be >.> I had to re-do the first steps three times because the bands keep slipping from my hook lol

So I'm kinda... downloading and planning out the next projects I'm going to make. feelinspiffy has made around 76 happy foods (including the happy crab because it's red)... I have a long way to go. I am motivated by the number of videos and pictures of happy foods kids have been posting. It's some sort of collection and I am determined to have a collection as well.

Craft #38: Loomigurumi Dango

I have this cool mint green color and the bands are perfect little circles ^0^ I've been looking for little bands since forever! However, they did not live up to my expectations. I was so frustrated when I got home and found out that they are not stretchy. I can't even put them in two pegs >_< And I was so excited to use it for another Happy Dango! See how those two would look together?

But anyway, I remembered watching this loomigurumi video guide for beginners. It's for my mokona and totoro projects.

And so I looked for the amigurumi pattern for a dango. Found one by YarnYard. I just made mine smaller; the widest part is 18 stitches insted of 36. And instead of doing continuous rows, I joined mine with slip stitches. I just want distinct rows instead of a continuous spiral ^^

Teheee... I made another dango. Whew! I stuffed it with cotton balls because it doesn't hold its shape like feelinspiffy's Happy Dango (the one on top). Still, I made it work and it's cute and squishy ^-^

My first loomigurumi is a dango. How cute is that ^-^

Thoughts:

Hmmm, I should definitely buy a cute background for my creations. Like a wooden tray... something... a bamboo placemat... cute scrapbook cardboards/papers...

In the meantime, I'd just use up the remaining silicone bands I have (there's still a lot -_-) before I purchase the rainbow loom bands (almost $4). I already bought the pink camouflage and glitter white bands from SM (I did ask Rainbowloom Philippines if the products sold at SM department stores are legit since they weren't included in their list of stores), but ... I am not that impressed actually. But what should I expect? It's rubber. Rubber is supposed to be... rubber. I don't really see how they are better than other brands or maybe I like my bands to hold their shapes ^^ I made twenty flowers - rose buds, chrysanthemums, roses, bells (by YarnJourney).

Aside from the floral project, the loomigurumis, happy foods... ehehee... I want to loom my own dragon as well xD Cortney Nicole looms dragons and post tutorials in her Youtube channel. She made Smaug from The Hobbit, Saphira from Eragon (book version),  Falkor from The Neverending Story, a Chinese dragon and the adult and baby dragons from How to Train Your Dragon movies; and oh, life size poodles as well - one mommy and three babies ^-^

Just to give you an idea:

Heh, I'll definitely make my own dragon ^-^ among other things...

Heh... it's cool that when I typed "Asi" in my search bar, the link for adding a blog post was one of the options in the auto-suggestions box/menu. HAHA! Google knows me so well.

My cousins love making these but most of the time they spend making bracelets out of it...
