Random Thought: Internet Friends

Okay, so this really has nothing to do with Kpop, but why the hell not:

I am an avid user of the internet.  I assume you are too.  Actively using Youtube and Tumblr.  Oh Tumblr.  Something I've taken notice of recently is "Internet Friends".  I find that so fraking adorable.  I assume you knwo what that term refers to, but in case you don't, Internet Friends are people you meet via the internet and speak to as if they were a real life friend, despite the incessant "stranger danger" and "internet predator" warnings you recieved as a child, but honestly there are 3 billion internet users.  Not even half of them are internet predators.

Anyways, the relationships are so damn cute.  They meet online, talk for MONTHS or years, and they're as close as two people can be. *If you watch Dan and Phil they met online actually)  And for some reason, despite having an amazing friend in real life, I crave an online friendship.  Odd, right?

I don't something about the relationship is just so appealing.  But on Tumblr, I'm too socially awkward to just leave a message for someone like "I enjoy your blog; be my friend?"  (Actually, until third grade I did this in real life. Then I learned that generally, people find it creepy if you just ask to be their friend)  And every time I type a message to someone or leave a comment saying anything, I get embarrassed or think they'll find it weird or awkward and wind up just deleting it.

I don't know.  I just really like the idea of internet friends, but I'm too awkward and paranoid to actually make any.

My friend has this friend that she met online, over Tumblr, who lives overseas.  They're really close and its adorable.  They've actually made plans to visit each other.  Its amazing.  Like a long distance relationship or something.

I have some online friends and they are cool but just remember u gotta make ur friends in real life that way you will learn and grow and not fear social iterations

people can be anything over the internet, and they are hardly predators, but that doesn't mean that they are who they seem to be. a lot of people lie about every last detail they put up about themselves

i used to like this person on aff and tumblr and i thought they would make the coolest friend until i found out they were NOT WHO I THOUGHT THEY WERE

i hated wasting all my time obsessing over their fics and tumblr because...

It could have taken me a few days if I had met them in person to realize we are not on the same page. Instead I wasted all my time because its the internet, and u never really know how cool a person is until you find out they're not

this isn't to say i haven't made some cool friends online, because i have. but u can't rely on them the same way. it's just not the same. they hold no liability to be your friend. they can disappear from the screen any day...i just think its depressing to seek friendship online (if it only stays online and doesn't go to the next step like meeting up irl.)

i am friendly and acquaintances with people online but i wouldn't call them real life friends, it's just not the same as having someone there in real life and it never will be unless you plan to meet every online friend you have...
