How I Got Into Kpop/Giveaway

Never once did I imagine myself as the person I am today. As a kid I always imagined myself as one of those super skinny, pretty, and pink-wearing girls. So, pretty much one of the girls from the movie, Mean Girls. I also never imagined myself as a kpop fan. Who knew I would be obsessed over pretty Asian men? Definitely not me.
Ever since I was a kid, I was into Asian stuff. I didn't know I was at the time, but looking back I realize I did. For example, my favorite tv shows were Yu-Gi-Oh (Japanese anime), Puffi Ami Yumi (Japanese rock based cartoon), and American Dragon Jake Long (Chinese-based cartoon).
It all started when I got into anime in 5th grade. You could call it an obsession...especially because anime and manga took over my life before kpop. It was to the extent where I have a hard time remembering those years because that's all I did. After reading a manga called Hana Kimi, and absolutely LOVING it, I decided I wanted more of it. This lead me to find a Japanese drama based off that manga. After watching that, I decided it was a good watch and even thought some characters were good looking. On the side of the website I remember seeing a beautiful person. Jung Yonghwa. It was the drama Heartstrings. I may of watched it because he was good-looking, but it was when he started singing that I fell in love. It was eighteen minutes into the first episode when he sang, and little did I know that I would become obsessed over this music.
After the drama I found out who he was and discovered he was in a real group, CN Blue. I looked up their music...and then it hit my hard. I didn't really look at other groups until I started noticing kpop was everywhere. I heard a kpop song in a random YouTube video I watched...Mr. Simple by Super Junior. I was amazed to know CN Blue and Super Junior were the same genre. From then on, I dedicated myself to learn all of their names which brought about a bias that I never thought I'd have.
If I hadn't found both CN Blue and Super Junior, I wouldn't have gotten into kpop. They aren't my favorite groups anymore, but I'm the most thankful to them for bringing me into this wonderful world.
Some parts of me still wish that I would have grown up as the teenager I always imagined myself to. But when I think about all of the good experiences, nice friends, and great music, I don't regret it at all.
The kpop world wasn't made for everyone (which is very unfortunate), but being a kpop fan has brought me more positives than negatives. I look at people who are the mirror image of what I used to want to be and think to myself, "Wow, how boring their lives are. The secret word just so happens to be 'TPH' for my giveaway. I feel sorry for them because they're missing out on so many great things."
So kpop fans, if you're reading this all, just remember that you are one of the special people who share this interest. It's not easy to like kpop, yet you do. So enjoy it to the fullest, don't let people put you down because they don't know what theyx're missing. And hey, maybe they'll become a kpop fan in the future and think about you.
No matter how you got into kpop, you're here now, along with the rest of us. And we're kinda trapped so enjoy it!
