BIR FAQ

So I realized that hey, instead of answering the asks on my tumblr in paragraph form and irritating the few followers I actually have about BIR nonsense they don't care about, I can just do it here! Basically, I'm answering the questions asked and adding little snippets of the BIR universe, if you're interested.

Okay, so here goes:

  • Why should I read BIR?

If you enjoy modern royalty, snarky heroines, girls (and Luhan) gathered to compete half-heartedly for a ridiculously cute, slightly annoying, and weirdly confusing prince, then BIR is right up your alley.

  • How cute is the Prince?

    Sehun-level cute.

  • Your summary was only one line. Give me a more detailed synopsis.

I'm sorry, I'm absolutely horrible with summaries.

Luhan didn't expect his twentieth year to end with him dressing up as his twin sister and courting the Prince in her name, aiming to be rejected. He certainly did not expect meeting a rather familiar butler, a cook, and his childhood crush along the way. Most of all, Luhan couldn't possibly have known the Prince would have found him the most fairest of all.

EDIT: After I finish BIR, I will go back and edit through all the chapters and it's a high possibility that I will omit Taoris as in hindsight, they actually don't affect the present plotline that much.

  • What pairings are there?

Hunhan, Kaisoo, and Baekyeol are the main pairings. Sustal is a side pairing - they're the King and Queen. Taoris is really minor, since they're both, um, not exactly living anymore. Oh, and one-sided Kailu and Sekai. There are more, but the other pairings aren't extraordinary, so I won't mention them.

  • Why is Taoris and Sustal in there?

I'll try not to give too much away, but Taoris serves as a parallel pairing to Baekyeol. Kaisoo does as well, but more of an mirror/opposite pairing to Baekyeol, and you'll see why later on. I'll probably write another blog post on that once ~the moment~ shows up. If you've a quick eye - I'm pretty sure most of you caught this OTL I wasn't that subtle - Taoris flashbacks always occurred before Baekyeol scenes. That doesn't mean every Baekyeol scene has a preceding Taoris flashback, but it's just that Taoris flashbacks are always followed by a Baekyeol scene. There were supposed to be more Taoris, but after Kris leaving, I didn't really want to work him back in there.

EDIT: As stated before, Taoris will probably not be included in the edited version of BIR.

Luhan, however, is a whole other story. But that's for another separate blog post.

Sustal, well, I honestly don't ship them. But they are cute together, I admit. It's just that when I first started writing BIR, one of my close friends was gushing about how cute Sustal was and I was having trouble finding who the King and Queen should be. So Sustal it is.

  • What's with the modern royalty?

I could tell you plenty about how interesting I find modern royalty. About the difference between "pure" blood and commoner blood. About separations between classes, and the interactions leading from that.

But really, I'm not going to sugar-coat things. I just didn't feel like writing medieval.

EDIT: I might possibly write it as medieval in the edited version, but that's a very low possibility. Either I write it medieval, or I somehow make the modern royalty portion of the story have more revelance because honestly, it doesn't do much except allowing the bride search to seem more realistic. (SPOILER: And for Baekyeol to split up.)

  • When do you update?

/hides in bed

Okay, I'd like to say I update every 2-3 weeks, but that schedule's gotten out of hand. So I'd settle with irregularly.

  • Will I like BIR?

I sure hope so.
