Part 1: Kim Ruka

*

Bang Junhyun sat by a comfy chair, hawk-like eyes gazed upon the living room of Oh Mansion. Teenage girls and boys gathered around to celebrate Oh twins’ sweet sixteen, although the boy, Sena, assumed that this party was more suitable to be his little sister's than him, judging from the ratio of the guests since Rena was a social butterfly, a typical courteous young lady while Sena just wished everyone die.

Personally, Jun had no interest in teenagers’ life. He was a teen himself once, and he wasted it between studying to be the suitable heir of Bang Group and the nice guy for his future wife, but that's the unimportant part of his life. Now, after he became a head-division for Bang group, Jun sometimes came back to Seoul to attend meeting as his training to be the next CEO.

That's still didn't explain why he's looming in this boring party.

“Hey.” When Sena passed by with a scowl, Jun immediately asked the youngling gruffly, “will he come?”

Although it might sound ambiguous, it actually was a very straightforward question for both of them. Small smirk tore the brooding mask of Sena upon hearing his question, showing a glimpse at how juicy the true personality was. Sena didn’t answer, only giving him this triumph smile as if expecting a furious reaction from dramatic await. But knowing this half cousin – two times removed since Uncle Sehun was the cousin of Aunt Luhan, whom also became half-brother to his dad, Bang Junhong- too well, Jun stayed calm and composed outside despite his heart cursed Sena in fast rhythm. ....

“Can I ask something?” Sena suddenly said, “Wait, you have to promise to not angry.”

Jun only shrugged. He had a feeling this conversation would rage him so he didn't want to promise. It doesn't hurt either to not hearing any bull from Sena. In fact, Sena would tell him anyway cause this young man was the kind of person who loved to point out blankly about inappropriate things, like, “I wonder, Hyung, if you attracted to him, as in ual way.”

Jun returned a concerned look to the younger man, “I'm not mad like your dad and his triumvirate history with Uncle Chanyeol.”

“He's a man.” Sena exclaimed, as if Jun said the otherwise. “And we all know Kim Ruka is a damned heir -as Grandma Xi addressed- and they only need him to breed with Rena so they can take the baby. Why you're so interested in him anyway?”

“His mother was a half-brother of my dad.” Jun explain, 'he's my cousin, remember?'

“That’s not a reason. You’re crazy over him. You saw him like a predator judging his prey. You’re a freak, hyung!”

Jun sighed. He stood, revealing a lean muscled yet very tall posture, with amber eyes twitching in annoyance and both hands crossed in the chest, a superior gesture people often found in tough American guy. “Then why don’t you piss off?” He hissed, “I’m ready to latch my knuckles on your face.”

“Hmph.” Sena snorted, laughed even at the threat, cause the young man had heard it enough to even care to be hit. Sena did head to leave, but only after whispering a low murmur of, “by the way, he’s fixing my laptop upstairs.”

Kim Ruka had big doe eyes and fair skin, while in everything else, he look too similar with his Japanese dad. The same smirk. The same jaw shape. The same playful gaze. The same bumbly lips. He was decently tall, with hair forever dyed in blazing orange and oversized hoody forever hid the detail of the body so of course it spread rumor around their small circle of brotherhood called ‘Morose Heirs’ Club that Kim Ruka might actually a ‘mother’ which was hiding his true gender.

For Jun, as he knew the truth, the rumors only added more thorns into his bleeding heart. Yes, he had a thing for Ruka, and he didn’t know how to stop caring about the young man to the point it drove him crazy. It started six years ago, when Jun was sleepover at Kim’s house at Ruka’s 12 birthday night. It’s the important phase in every child life. When they reached puberty, the human being which was born as boy and girl started to develop into man and mother. Man –and woman- will have wet dream, while boy and girl will get period.

It's an anxious night for Ruka. Uncle Kai teased Ruka that the boy might as well stay as child cause he's too manly to be mother and too pretty to be a man. Ruka pouted but said nothing, only stuffed his gaze to plate as if it’s the last time the kid will live as himself.

Six years in gap, Jun comforted the pouting boy later in the night like a brother should, 'don't be nervous.' He said with a chuckle, 'it's what you are so it's pretty much what you expected.'

Ruka sighed, 'I don't know who I am.' He said it while staring at both his palm, and secretly Jun agreed with him. It's the dream which shaped a personality. A persuasion to convince oneself into believing, this is what you are. However, inside all those layers of human traits and facades, they are all the same. They are coming from the nothingness. 'Everyone expect me to be a man, I'm afraid if I became mother, I'll become a disappointment.'

'Hey.' Jun broke the wall of personal space in between them by ruffling Ruka's hair gently and surprised at how soft it was and how easy it fluttered his heart, 'I don't see the problem here coz both are good to me.'

It brought smile to form on Ruka lips. It also tied rope around Jun chest, he began suffocated by undistinguished feelings. 'I wished for a simpler life to live on. Sometimes I wished to born as shapeless as wind so people don't have to judge me from what they see.'

'You might want to be careful to not born as fart.'

Ruka erupted into a breathless laugh, it tightened the rope around him. What an enthralling sight, for a moment Jun was sure the next morning they awake, there will be radiant glow on Ruka face, a stronger scent of sweet musk, and a pained whine from his first period. It's the most painful thing for mother, cause they were developing their womb. However, a dream only left as dream, cause in the next morning, Ruka woke him up with wide grin and Jun refused to believe Ruka was a man from now on, possibly the prettiest among them.

.

.

.

“If you gonna stand there all day, hyung, you’ve better make use of yourself and bring me some punch from the party.” Ruka greeted him with a wide smile, already knew it's him even with eyes still fixing on Sena's laptop.

He strolled into the room and sat by the bed, ignoring the request and asked instead, 'what's the problem?' He gestured to the laptop.

“Just a couple of viruses.” Ruka said griefly, “Too much putting faith in sites, this innocent lad, now I’m tracking back the sites to give them a nice payback.”

Jun snorted while muttering to himself, “teenagers...”

Ruka took a glance at him, before smiling again to the computer, Jun wondered how a man could look so fair and pretty.

“So, how's life?” Ruka asked.

“Life's fine without me.” Jun replied solemnly, before he added, “well, I'm here for business trip and for the twins birthday.” And to see you, he added by his gaze burning the back of Ruka’s head. He hated that orange hair, it’s too sunny for his appetite. If he asked about it, he was sure Ruka will say the hair color was to annoy people. But no matter how Jun hated it, the color suited Ruka, making the young man’s skin glowed brighter and make it harder to judge the gender.

“I've heard it's almost the time for your wedding.” Ruka muttered again.

“Yeah, the breeding.” Jun replied with grunt as he was forced to remember about his fiancée. It’s a blond haired lady from England, named Sarah. She was cute and sweet, although not so smart in appearance. It’s a shame that when he offered a professional relationship with her, she refused it for the reason that she was always dreaming of a lovely marriage life, even Jun had to fake it for her. It’s troublesome. Jun wanted to create alliance by impregnating her and made an heir or two, then back to his life, his brotherhood and his job. “It’s just the celebration for the bride. I’m just there to eat and .”

He wondered if his word tickled a part in Ruka mind, cause then the young man stood and approached him, standing closely with a content gaze and divine smile formed upon angelic face. It drew a small question of ‘what?’ mouthed on his lips.

“I was always hope you’ll stay, everytime I saw you around.” It skipped a heart beat in Jun to hear it. It sounded like a confession, if Ruka didn’t continue with, “you know, there’s a person here who loved you and adored you with aaaaall his might.” The last words added with dramatic low giggle which drifting his mind to recall about younger Kim sibling.

“Who loves me?” He whispered huskily, taunting Ruka although he knew exactly the person was.

“A secret admirer.” A sheepish smile formed on Ruka, “I'm gonna get punched in the balls if he found out I told you about him.”

Jun couldn't help but smile along for that the only person who was capable to be so hostile towards the beautiful Kim Ruka. Kim Kaura, the sweetheart in the family. The boy was a copy-cat of Aunt Lu both in appearance and girly personality, except for the tanned skin and Kaura hated it because the boy inherited it straight from his Okinawa-born Great Grandpa. He's two years younger from Ruka and a mother -obviously- and it's a public secret that Kaura had crush with Jun since the boy could remember.

“I can guess it though.” Jun chuckled lightly, something he rarely did. It's not that he's a mean spirited guy who loathed rainbow spit and unicorn . He’s just too busy attending company and too often got surrounded by fake hospitality, Ruka was one of a few friends who can bring happiness to show on his stoic face. “How's he doing, anyway? Did he grow y as I ask him to?”

Ruka eyes narrowed and somehow the smile turned cold, 'Hyung, please don’t ask if you're not interested. Kau is my beloved, so I won’t let your false hope ruined him.” Even when the orange haired voice lowered in soft warning, Jun kept strangely sensed the alluring beauty from Ruka. He knew some men could feel attracted to another men, but that's abominable in society. And despite that fact, Jun still craved for Ruka cause the young man was also an exception for that Ruka had a beauty of mother in his man's body.

“Oh trust me I'm interested.” Jun said, “If he's old enough by the end of this year, I'll marry him.”

“Eww,” Ruka made a disgusted frown, “he's not even sixteen you ert!” But both of them knew there's no ulterior motive in his words cause if heaven allows, he will chose to be with Ruka, all day and night. It's not love as in love story. He just felt he needed Ruka around his life like a roommate, or partner. He even considered asking Ruka to live together after their duty to the family was done and now left to move on with their life.

But he doubted Ruka will agree. Someday, when Ruka married to Rena, Jun was sure Rena would fall in love to Ruka and kept Ruka even though they would only marry for heir. He can even imagine the girl putting leash around Ruka's neck, just to let everyone else knew Ruka was THAT precious as human being.

“Then how about you?” He asked, mentioning about Rena, “You're going to breed heir for Xi Household.”

Ruka averted his gaze to the window. There's a change in his sparkly gaze. It became dimmed and deepened into gloom, “sort of.” He shrugged, “I know I'm just a donor to them. Then Mrs.Xi won't bother our life anymore, as she promised. Still, how could I be a father and then be a stranger to my child?”

That's what mostly men wanted after their arranged marriage.

That's what Jun wanted, but now he felt stung to know how Ruka was disappointed to the rich-community codec. “Well, you can learn to love Rena.” He suggested, although he hated to say it. He didn't like the idea of Ruka loving someone, just like he hated his own feeling towards the young man. “And I bet she'll definitely love you. For that reason, you can get a loving marriage just like your dream.”

“That's what I told her. I asked if we can date, to know each other more than business partners.” Ruka sighed, “she rejected me. We both know it's possible to learn to love, but she didn't want marriage or a child or me. She just wanted to get over this as soon as possible and moving on with her life.”

Jun frowned. To think Rena would reject someone like Ruka, it's just so sad. Shame on her. She didn't know what she missed.

“Then, what would you do?”

Ruka returned a look at him, “I'm not gonna marry her.” He said. “Mrs.Xi will be ing about it to our family but every mortal would die sooner or later, and I'm sure under her thick layers of evilness she's still a human, so I guess all I could do is ignore her.”

“Or staying away.” Jun chuckled again. Ruka really knew how to lift his mood again after such depressing talk. “You're always welcome to my flat in New York.” He almost lost his own breath for that he slipped out and told his future plan into a simple offer.

Ruka snorted, “bah, unless we're in triumvirate relationship like Uncle Oh and Park, I suggest two bachelors shouldn't live together.” Although the answer was ‘no’ it rouse another question in him,

“Or what?” he taunted.

Instantly, Ruka stunned with faint blush slowly crept on his pale cheek. “I don't understand what you imply with your 'or what', hyung. Can we drop this silly topic?”

“You're just being careful.” Jun smirked darkly, “why are you blushing anyway?”

Ruka glared. It’s also rare to see Ruka got annoyed. The young man was very patient and wise even in young age so it worth award to a person who can reveal his childish side. “Why not? I'm a human being and I'm embarrassed with this awkwardness.”

“Awkward?” Jun scrunched his eyebrows, “I don't get it. What part of our conversation which made you feel awkward?”

Ruka bit his bottom lips, needed a few moments before the boy answered hastily, “uh, nothing. Just forget it.” The blush darkened around his face, and Jun can't stop staring, just like he couldn't stop his heart from harsh beating. This can be a close time for confession or he might comfort Ruka instead, just like a big brother should.

“Okay.” His answer brought Ruka attention back to him and he smiled reassuringly, “I'll forget your attempt to seduce me with your cute blush and puffy pout.” He laughed when Ruka glared again at him, “Only that I know Uncle Kim was right. You might be a macho man, Ruka, but you're still a kid in heart.”

“Shut up.” Ruka hissed, “I know I have mother's face. Stop rubbing it like salt to my already rotten wound.”

The knock on the door averted them from conversation. The first thing Jun saw was a heedful of golden blond hair, loosely braided to the left shoulder of a skinny boy with bronze skin. The boy peeked through the crack of open door with a pair of comically big curious gaze towards them. “Hyung, mom’s calling.” The voice was soft yet in the same time huskily alluring when it addressed to Ruka. “Let's go home.”

“I'm sorry it took so long, Kau!” The doting Kim bro approached the younger sibling. Only at a time like this, Jun admitted Ruka was a man, at the way he pampered Kaura and gently loved the young boy, “if you want to blame someone for my lateness, blame that gorgeous piece of Trojan Knight. He enchanted me into a long talk of nonsense.” Jun felt a little pity with himself for this complicated feeling arisen from Ruka's praise, although they're all considered as bull.

“Hi, Kau.” Jun waved a very charming greet and felt his heart crumbled into pieces at how cute Kaura reacted. The boy stopped hiding and presented him a shy smile, before focused to scold Ruka. As Kau did it, his face became hued in red which resulted in Ruka pinched both Kaura cheeks and smooched hard the pouty lips in between.

Jun grumbled lowly, grudgingly regretting why he's not born in Kim family where enthusiastic smooch still counted at family kiss. He can kiss these beauties without convicting crime.

.

“Umma said you're getting married this year.”

Jun startled when Kaura suddenly spoke to him. With Ruka had to go back securing Sena laptop, Kaura decided to sit next to him on the bed with eyes buried to the floor and fingers tracing the punch glass held in the small palms. “Congratulations.” The boy whispered unwillingly, it made Jun remembered about how lucky he was to get admired by Kaura. However, the boy was also too young for him, and too innocent to get ruined by the whole world doctrines.

So he only smiled and said nothing, cause answering means hurting and he didn't want to hurt Kaura more than his silent rejection.

“Do you love her?” Kaura asked again, now looking at him curiously.

“No.” He stated the truth.

Kaura winced, “I don't understand.” The boy turned to ask Ruka, Hyung, did all riches only marry for heir?”

“In some cases, yes.” Ruka twisted the chair, then approached the bed while smiling genuinely at the younger Kim, “like Mrs.Xi and Grandpa, and possibly me and Rena. You should be lucky Kau,” Ruka said, “you can do whatever you want in life.”

Kaura pouted, “I still don't understand.” The boy said, “I don't want to.”

“That's because you're still young.” Jun nudged the smaller shoulder with his bigger ones, gaining a dark blush to creep on Kaura face, “when you became adult, Kau, you'll understand.”

The younger Kim only gave him a hard gaze, before the boy stood up and walked away, “come on, hyung. We need to go home before dinner.”

“Yes, yes.” Ruka watched Kaura back as the boy disappeared into the hallways and kept staring the blank space while muttering, “Do you really has to marry, hyung?” the question ended by Ruka gazed back at Jun. At how devoted the young man towards the little brother, it tickled Jun with small jealousy. He’s also a brother to Ruka, so why Ruka didn’t care what he felt?

“Why not?” He shrugged, “It’s just a legal ion, if marriage means sharing body without sharing love.” So if I don’t marry Sarah and stay for Kaura, isn’t that became the same cause I’m loving Kaura no more than brother now and I don’t want to waste him into having loveless with me. He wanted to say the rest, but he swallowed it back cause he didn’t think it was matter. He lived too long in a world where he didn’t have freedom to choose what he’ll be in future. So it didn’t matter to defend himself more.

But Ruka understand the hurt in his gaze, and it will always melt the harshness in him. Sorry escaped the plump lips as Ruka leaned to peck his lips. It’s a brotherly act for Ruka, a token for apology, but it’s the first time for Jun to be kissed by a man, which strangely haunted him with desire.

What should I do? He groaned at himself as his hands firmly grasped the shorter shoulder, My God, help! He became panic when his head titled and his mouth opened in grasp over the warm flesh pressed to his lips. He knew Ruka was staring at him, probably in shock, but then he felt hands s around his back and his throat became dry cause Ruka kissed him back. It stirred him crazy with forbidden excitement which only stopped ten minutes later. It might put 'making out' as the same level of friendly kiss in Kim family. But when he's done, Ruka was beneath him on Sena bed, out his name when he diligently marked the young man neck with hickeys.

“Hyung...”

“Hmm?”

Ruka let out a breathless chuckle, “you're really a great kisser.”

“So do you.” Jun chuckled into Ruka skin, before he inhaled the scent and sighed, “There’s no way we could be together, aren't we?”

'Yes.' Ruka answered, soft and firm.

With that, Jun got up and let Ruka left the room and left him stung.
