Being Selfish with K-Pop (Rant about Nickelodeon K-Pop Show)

So as a lot of you probably know and a lot of you probably don't know, Nickelodeon is coming out with a TV series about three best friends making their own kpop group and singing songs. A kpop glee, basically. A rip off of Dream High but not really, essentially.

Am I the only one who is really worried? I'm legitimately so scared for multiple reasons, regardless of how the show does. In the first scenario, what if the show does really well and kpop gets more popular? I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a bit selfish and possessive because these groups are ours. Ours! XD what if my friends wake up one day and are like "man I love that show, kpop is awesome. EXO is mine, BigBang are my baes". Sure, it would mean I have someone to fangirl with but they're MINE! Lmao childish, I know. But it's just worrying...I guess it's like becoming best friends with the new kid in school then suddenly everyone realises how cool they are and try to take them away and be their friend too? You guys get me? Yeah.

 

so the other scenario: what if the show is a ing disgrace and people think kpop is really like that? I don't want them to think the genre is a joke. They need to know how hard idols have it! The slave contracts, the stress, the fatigue, the hate, the crazy fans. They need to know that it's not as rosy and "BUBBLE BUBBLE POP!" As the show might make it out to be. I don't want them making fun of our idols. The thing is, people are ignorant and ignorance leads to racism. I just can't deal with it. 

Also, when will people realise that there's more to Korean music than just sugary, happy songs? Excuse me, have they listened to "Flower" by XIA? Have they jammed to "Born Hater" by Epik High? Have they jazzed to "Erase" by Hyolyn/Hyorin and Jooyoung? Have they twerked to "Red" by Hyuna or "Crazy" by 4minute? NO! 

Theres all sorts of genre, even if all Korean music is put under the umbrella term "kpop" but I very much doubt that this stupid show will convey that. *sigh* I don't need this kind of stress, leave Korean music and Korean dramas to Koreans please. I love it just the way it is and although change is necessary most of the time, not all change is good or necessary all the time. 

Nick Cannon, off please. Stop trying to get money off our peeps, okay? Just coz we're making youtube richer, doesn't mean you need to exploit it. =_=

I agree to be honest. I am scared. Us kpopers were here first. We worked hard on our own to make the groups the way they are. We don't want new kpopers coming in because of a show like this. If you can understand these words 'coming in for the wrong reason'.
On the other hand I am scared of people thinking of kpop the wrong way too. Urghs I'll still hold my pride dispite this mess of a show.
THESE ARE OUR BOYS (if you fandom girl groups then) OUR GIRLS!! WE WERE HERE FIRST BECAUSE OF OUR OWN INTEREST.
Once these ppl find out how kpop is TRUELY run they'll see how HARD these idols REALLY work. If they don't urghs. This is a huge mess that could of been avoided if Nick Cannon wasn't such an idiot to mess with k-culture/k-pop. All Nick Cannon did was create enemies and hate.
Even if Megan said "it isn't related to kpop. Just the style."

Ugh i can't even fathom how much I don't want this to happen. On one side I do kind of want kpop popular, but i have a jealous side and when things get to popular everyone would be playing the song over and over which annoys me to point end ( don't even get me started on Frozen -.-), and the other side is that I really don't want nick canon to ruin it by just focusing on the happy happy lolipop songs of kpop, it would be nice if he might have focused on other forms of Korean music like Korean hip-hop, K-indie, etc. I honestly don't know how I feel about this.

agree so much with those. Uugggh I hate how they potrayed kpop. As a fan of kpop, we gwt judged so much and this sh*t is just gonna fuel the fire. Freaking stupid.

we're on the same page !!! I'm rejecting the idea of the show ever since news of it came out. I feel that the western culture don't really seem the understand the Korean / Kpop culture enough, to be able to create a show that truly portrays how Kpop is like. most people, other than westerners, don't understand the real Korean pop, and think that all it consists of is cutesy songs / y girls / abs guys / sasaengs they will never understand and be able to create something that is good for real if they continue to refuse to accept what is really going on, other than the stereotypes of Kpop.

so glad that there are people who think the same way as me xD I feel a little rejected when I see many others who are like looking forward to the show so much when I'm just *gtfo*

I agree... It's not going to be the same you know. When everyone startes to like kpop, it won't be same and it's true, people might think that kopo is lame and stupid... they should just let kpop the way it is and not make it into a show...
I LOVE KPOP and i don't want people to complain about it...

I agree and Megan Lee says it's not about KPOP? Uhhh--- well I read the script for the show and it's just terribly cheesy and... It's pretty much lame lol cancel the show. There was a petition going around and I signed it

I think it's straight up stupid. I wouldn't watch that show at all.
Kpop fans wouldn't even watch it, first of all.
It's a waste of time and money. I think Megan Lee can do much better as well.

NO WAY IN HELL I'M SHARING MY BAES -______- I mean, it's alright with me when it's older Unnies because thy got in Kpop first but there's NO WAY IN EFFING HELL I'M SHARING MY BAES!! NOOOOOOOOOO!!
But I don't want people to mock them too :/ People here in my country already think some of them look like girls (Even I admit okay fine Ren of NU'EST does look like like a girl, A LITTLE!!)
