Fun facts: Marissa Meyer started as a fanfic writer in fanfiction.net. She wrote Sailor Moon fanfics :3 And the first in the series, Cinder, is a product of NaNoWrimo.

She joined a contest and wrote the sci-fi version of Puss In Boots and that's how the idea of merging fairytales and sci-fi came to be!

I think it is pretty obvious which fairytale is featured in each book :3

Aside from these books, she has also published short stories in Wattpad that belong in the same universe, like The Little Android. Go read them to have an idea of her writing style, it's free :3

Glitches is the prequel to Cinder. The Queen's Army is the prequel to Scarlet; but it was set way before Cinder. I haven't read Carswell's Guide to Being Lucky. But it's the prequel to Cress. 

BUT, she suggests to read them in the order they were published because then the prequels might give spoilers to the actual books.
