Dear people with writers block (it's worth reading)

i've seen a few people commenting about writers block.

i'm in the same boat

So, i went to my lecturer/tutor and asked her what the best way to get over it was

and she told me

Read more e.g. things that are similar to what you write, or try something new and find a style you would like to write in, or read something challenging to spark new ideas.

Secondly: free write. Free writing is where you can just pick up your journal (or similar) and just write the first thing that pops up into your head and keep on going for 15 minutes or more.
If you cant think of anything to write, write about your surroundings and really take into account of your senses (that's the best way to write, to let your reader feel what you're feeling or what you want them to feel) touch it, smell it, hear it...
If that doesn't work, try and free write away any problems, something bothering you that's consuming your mind. Write it in a letter form to someone whos bothering you (but don't send it) or create a story around it.

Hopefully that was helpful.

i think that's the best advice i could ever get from a twenty minute tutorial but it's working

i haven't been able to write anything for a while, but after i spoke to her, i just sat down on the train on my way home and started to write. And i did the same today.

and trust my tutor, she's been teaching creative writing for a long time, and she's been writing for even longer.
she told me that she had writers block for a year.

the best way to get over writers block is to make it happen yourself.
you can't wait for inspiration to hit you otherwise you'll be waiting forever.

i really hope you guys can get over your writers block because a lot of people i'm seeing with this problem are writers that i generally really enjoy reading.

Love, Misha <3

It is true, in a way. We shouldn't wait for the inspiration to write, it would be forever. If I have writer's block, in which I am confused where to direct the story further, I usually read them again. I will be able to spot mistakes or put on more details into the story. Still, the greatest effect comes when inspiration gets involved. It is just amazing to follow that urge to pour everything right away, the plot that we could never plan when we are in normal state. :D. Anyway, thanks for your tip. It is very helpful. If you could, send my greeting to your tutor. Her advice is really helpful. :)
