APPEARANCE » he's 184 cm tall and weighs 65 kg. his hair is usually dyed dark brown - he'd have it a ridiculous shade of red if not for his parents disapproving. (they'e hardly fine with the brown.) he's got a surprisingly skinny frame, save for his arms, which are slightly muscular thanks to drumming. he has abs, which he's worked for with all of his strength, once he figured he could get girls/boys with them. he doesn't have a tattoo yet, but he plans to get one on his wrist.
FASHION STYLE » chunhee always dresses like it's summer, regardless of the season. he's all about tank tops and shorts and sunglasses, and will wear them regardless of the weather. chunhee likes clothing that's loose, stuff that he can move in and play easily in, and would probably just go around all the time if he could. but, since he can't, he dresses like it's hot for the thin fabrics and loose clothing. (in the actual summer, he never wears a shirt. ever. his friends are all used to it, and most other people that exist are not.) he enjoys wearing lots of bracelets, too.

and i would do it for you: chunhee's friends are his top priority; he'll do anything for them, no matter what it is. he's not the most responsible guy, nor is he the smartest, but to his friends, he's constantly allegiant. are you feeling sick and have to stay home from school? not only will he show up with the notes and homework you missed, he'll stick around and make uberspicy chicken noodle soup to clear your sinuses. just going through a bad breakup? he's there, with the perfect mix of bloody revenge flicks and ice cream. he's usually always smiling anyway, but having his friends be with him and happy somehow makes him even happier. (note that "loyal" doesn't always mean "friendly". he does not think before he speaks at all. at any time. ever.) he's the definition of an extrovert: he loves being around people and gets his energy from being around people. he simply prefers his friends.

kim chunhee was born and raised in busan, south korea, and was the oft-overlooked middle child of his family. his sister soonhee was the kid who did well in school, all 100%s on tests and college offers left and right. his younger brother is a sports prodigy, the captain of his middle school's soccer team and already an olympic hopeful (for the 2020 olympics, of course). then there's chunhee, the not-too-bright middle child who likes loud english music and playing the drums. he's known he was the family disappointment since he was around ten, which coincidentally was about the same time he started playing drums full time. the moment he touched his first pair of drumsticks, he was in love. the more he became absorbed in playing the drums, the more he alienated his family. hence, until he was 16, chunhee was an awkward, stifled, drum-banging loner.
how did he change so radically, then? the answer is hae jina. the two met when jina was 16 - soonhee was jina's tutor in something that chunhee still doesn't understand whatsoever, and they ran into each other. they became friends fast, and through jina, chunhee met the three other people that would eventually grow to become some of the best friends that chunhee would ever make. he started coming out of his shell more - goodbye loner chunhee, hello hot drummer chunhee. (he probably came a little bit too far out of his shell, as the case may be.) it was because chunhee met jina that he became who he is today, and because of that, he's forever grateful.
at 18, chunhee dropped out of high school with about half of a year left. he moved to seoul to be closer to his friends, and to hongdae, because hongdae nightlife is the best place to meet buddies. he moved in with a seoul university exchange student named corey ray who could hardly write in korean if he tried (though he wasn't bad at speaking it). notably, corey is a bassist, and was part of a band that was in desperate need of a drummer. to celebrate his addition into the department of unnecessary evil, as they're called, chunhee found a new club and tried something out there that made him see stars. that's what began his drug problem. (he says it's not a problem. corey worries.) other than that, though, his life in seoul has been pretty much perfect. in fact, hae jina had finally agreed to see doue live on a certain fateful night.

maybe it's just his upbringing speaking, but corey is probably the world's most gentlemanly gentleman. he's more like the male lead in a romance novel than an actual person. he's patient - especially with chunhee, his roommate. there is no part of corey that approves of chunhee's lifestyle, but he's still the person who makes bloody marys after a long night of partying. he thinks before he speaks and is never inappropriate - take him home to meet your parents, go ahead, he'll charm your mom and even win over your dad. he hardly ever swears, he almost always keeps his cool, he doesn't drink and drive, he opens doors for grandmothers, he's punctual...hell, corey even always dresses well, all blazers and waistcoats. and he's handsome. in no way is he korean, but he's picked up the language with surprising finesse (just don't ask him to write anything). first glance and a few months living together, and corey has no flaws.
of course, as september 2015, corey and chunhee have been living together for a year and two months; chunhee knows all of corey's flaws inside and out. corey ray standing up for himself is like a fish going into the lumber business: it makes no sense whatsoever. he gets teased by his bandmates - jinyoung especially - for being the token white kid, and is really uncomfortable with flirting as a whole. in fact, his uberpoliteness is often mistaken for flirting, which leaves him flustered and awkward and generally unable to deal. corey doesn't like seeing people sad, so he says yes to strings and strings of dates that he'd seriously rather not go on, because he's that weak-willed. he's so obsessed with seeing other people happy that he'll discount himself in a second - unlike chunhee, who is so obsessed with his own happiness that he'll discount himself in a second. they're the inverse of each other. aside from his weak-willedness and social awkwardness, corey's honestly not the sharpest tool in the shed. he's good with engineering and he's good at playing bass, but other than that, he honestly has no skills in doing much of anything whatsoever. he'll believe just about anything that you tell him - he thought incheon was a fictional place for about a week, since jinyoung told him so. he's going to a good university, sure, but that's less because of his natural ability and more because of the fact that he gave up sleeping to cram. (he doesn't spend a lot of time sleeping anyway.) he can't read the atmosphere of a room to save his life - he'd probably be cracking jokes at a funeral - and gets confused very easily. he also gets scared very easily - don't take him to a horror movie or make small noises when it's quiet or he'll scream.

corey parker ray was born on october 8th, 1994, in blackpool, england. he's only ever loved doing two things: taking apart electronics and playing bass. those two hobbies led to an interest in mechanical engineering and a love for music - especially the who. at the age of 19, he got the offer to spend the next three years studying for his masters in engineering in seoul. he'd always been interested in the country and the language, and moved to the country later the year whilst learning it. he'd be living with a person one year younger than he was, a drummer in need of a roommate. and so, corey ray met kim chunhee. one of corey's classmates, han seungyun, was in a band - he and corey were friends, and somehow, corey ended up joining the band as its bassist. all that was left was a drummer, and hey, corey knew this guy...
so of course, doue was formed. for the first month or so of chunhee being in the band, corey and chunhee honestly didn't interact much. corey's actually a student, and more often than not, he actually studies; meanwhile, chunhee seems to either spend his nights bringing home one night stands, or going to somebody else's house for them. naturally, that annoyed corey a lot - when your roommate is having loudly in the other room, it's very hard to study. after steeling up all his courage, corey decided to talk to chunhee about it. the confrontation between the two went a little something like this:

that one slightly awkward conversation, however, opened up a door into a great friendship. when you can tell your roommate to shut up during , you know you've got a bond going. the two started getting closer, and closer, and now they're simply best friends. that's how it is. even if chunhee still spends half of his nights at the houses of strangers and comes home hungover, corey will still mix him bloody marys and generally be nice. because they're friends. and it's not at all because corey sickens himself with worry every time that chunhee comes home late or that he's half jealous of all of chunhee's one night stands. they're just. friends. and that's okay.

ENDING » chunhee has no clue about corey's feelings, because corey is in denial about them. the result is enough unresolved to fuel 23 romantic comedies. if corey ever owns up to his feelings - which, knowing corey, he probably won't - he'll never tell chunhee for fear of sullying things, or for fear that chunhee will never feel the same way. or both. if chunhee ever realizes corey's feelings, he'll probably confront him right away, because he'd love to live with someone who he loves in a romantic sense, but chunhee is chunhee and probably never will.

WHAT IS YOUR SECRET? » my bandmate...one of my best friends, besides jina and everyone, i mean, jung jinyoung. he was the one that was in the car that hit her. what's worse, i was the one texting her when she...when the accident happened. she was finally ing going to see one of my gigs, i'd finally convinced her to go...and...and he never showed up and neither did she, and you can't play a gig without a lead guitarist so...so i left, so me and corey and yun left. and then when i got home i checked my voicemail. i'd got a bunch of missed calls while i was driving but i hadn't checked because, unlike jinyoung, i'm not an idiot.

chunhee tries really hard to be cheerful in the wake of jina's accident, but his guilt is eating him alive. that's kind of what i was going for bc lots of angst + cheerful character = breakdowns and that's always fun he's like the biggest stepford smiler so uh yep yep
chunhee's band is terrible they're all trying really hard to be ed sheeran at the same time and it doesn't work but they're on the slow climb towards being decent

chunhee tries really hard to be cheerful in the wake of jina's accident, but his guilt is eating him alive. that's kind of what i was going for bc lots of angst + cheerful character = breakdowns and that's always fun he's like the biggest stepford smiler so uh yep yep
chunhee's band is terrible they're all trying really hard to be ed sheeran at the same time and it doesn't work but they're on the slow climb towards being decent
and. i will add more later to basically everything maybe some like friends or something or more friends anyways he's not close to his parents or siblings so they're not in the background. he's the black sheep
