Craft #9: Elenlote mini bloom bracelet + Operation Exile

And I'm back with another loom band floral bracelet and I call this, the Elenlote mini bloom bracelet!

(The Ele- what? What is Keeper blabbing about?)

Elenlote is a star in a poem mentioned in kaotic312's Hobbit fanfic Stolen Heir

But he hadn't stopped her as he'd laid there listening to the tale of Elenlote, a bright piece of star longing to touch the rich soil. It was a sad tale, where the star could no longer shine surrounded by the soil, but that the nourishing ground had so loved the star that a flower grew that rivaled the sun for brightness.(from chapter six, Stolen Heir.)

For a whole week, I've been experimenting on different flower patterns to come up with the design for the Elenlote flower. I was looming rose blooms last night (with Smaug inside the glass dome fixture and bandaged thumbs, when for some reason, the flower in my hand didn't have the correct number of bands). I was too tired to start  all over and so decided to just finish it the way I would a normal rose bloom.

Lo and behold! The first version of the Elenlote was formed! A rose and a star in one  bloom, it was (for me), perfect. Exactly what I wanted.

(The first one is a rose bloom designed by YarnJourney. The second and third blooms are missing the fourth band in the original design but the final version of the Elenlote flower is the last one.)

Rose and star?

Elves, especially the Wood Elves, loved most the light of the stars (Tauriel said this in the movie). And in the tale or poem, Elenlote is a star, the very shape (I hope) the silver petals form. Silver for starlight, though I am still looking for a mettalic white or glitter white band.

Under the light of the firemoon (Kili's firemoon; the one that appeared over the road in Dunland; and what he wanted to show Tauriel), it would glow red but I thought it would still show hints of starlight. That's why the bloom has red and silver petals in it. (Also, Tauriel's hair is red.) In chapter 21, Kili gave Tauriel a flower pin as his Durin's Day gift. And in chapter twenty, we find out that it's the Elenlote flower. The company and the  Elves thought the flower pin was a "poorly done rose" much to Kili's chagrin. So I thought, maybe it looked like a rose, but not entirely like a rose. And that is why the center whorl resembles that of a rose bud.

Also in the poem, it says that the ground loved the star, and Kili showed it through the "brown twisty vines" wrapped around the Elenlote flower pin. But as I've said,  this is made with Kili and Tauriel in mind. And so instead of "the ground loving the star", it is "the Dwarf loving the star"; hence, gold bands wrapped around the  red petals instead of "brown twisty vines" for the obvious reason that Dwarves love gold ^^

So yeah, here's the Elenlote mini bloom bracelet, the latest addition to my Kiliel crafts collection :3

What's next?

Well, I have to buy more olive green or lime green and brown bands; metallic gold and yeah, the starlight silver white bands. I don't think I'd ever run  out of colors to buy. The question is where to find them >_<

Oh the monster tail loom? It was sold out in the shop I went to yesterday. Last December. Goodness. Anyway, I'm getting the hang of using the regular loom in a  trapezoid configuration. I'll manage. Before leaving the store, I bought a mixture of pastel colored bands because it was on sale and I couldn't help it. I like how  the bands are not as tight as the other ones I bought but it holds shape really well. I don't have that much but I have enough that would require some sort of  organizer or storage container. HAHA.

And what do I exactly do with these bracelets and headband? Nothing. I just stare at them LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Smaug updates: Operation Exile has commenced! I turned off the main light, opened the door to the shared bathroom (with my sister) and its light. I'm patiently waiting for the insects to be attracted to that light and move there, so that the lizard would follow them. Sigh. It's depressing how Smaug can go and leave  as it pleases and I couldn't do anything about it because no amount of clapping or tapping scares it >_< Instead, I am the one who gets to leave my own room because I  couldn't sleep, afraid that it would fall on me >_< I couldn't forget the chill it left on my skin when one of its kind landed on my arm when I was a kid.
