My Guide To Apply Fics

  1.  Always read the instructions well. Look carefully at the taken idols/ulzzangs for the face claim and the love interest. As much as possible, do not have similarities with the author or the other applicants. Your main choice should always be different.
  2.  Read the applications of the other applicants. I know this is usually something the authors would not recommend but I suggest you still do it if you are a badass. The reason for it is to be able to see what the others have already offered. You do not want to have a character who is almost a carbon copy on another applicant. This is just the basis, it does not mean you are providing more or less than the other applicants.
  3. Have a draft in mind of how you want your character to come out as. Will she be a goodie two shoes or will she be a rebel? A strong bias opinion from me is that never go with someone normal. Be different from the normal.
  4. Have at least four tabs open (excluding the tab where you are making the blog post). One for the cheatsheet provided by the author, second for the gallery of ulzzang images, the turn in blog for the application and google images.
    - The cheatsheet is self explanatory as well as the gallery of ulzzang images. The turn in sheet tab is for the quick assess for you to look at the other applications and google images is for your other needs such as the images of the family members, friends and love interest.
  5. Remember to create a persona that has not been used in the real entertainment world of Korea. It is better to write a story in where you have your own distinct character rather than being similar to someone else.
  6. Be as realistic as possible. There is no such thing as being extremely happy from the beginning and extremely depressed as well. Life is full of ups and downs, not just one direction.
  7. Never be too perfect or too flawed. Characters with too much perfection is a character you just wanna over, to be honest.. While for the too flawed characters are only given more sufferrings or too much good happenings. It becomes boring for both the writer and the reader from either too much annoyance or guilt.
  8. Lengths are not really important. If you are good with your wordings, then just provide a clear and simple explanation being asked for you and that should do the trick but if you're someone like me who has a hard time explaining well, do take your time in making a long description. If there is a need for you to mention the slightest of detail then do so. Quality over quantity.
  9. Try to fix your grammar if you can. It only takes about five minutes to check if ther are minor errors in your application. Why is this important? You see, people have different minds. Some arrangement of words can mean something to you but different for someone else. You should be able to communicate yourself clearly with the author. It does not have to be perfect but at least above average.
  10. Irony. Do not contradict yourself. "She acts like this.....but she doesn't like this that is so related to how she acts." It is both confusing for the author and the audience who will soon read the story that your character is starring in.
  11. Do your research. If you do not know completely about the smallest details, then do not expect the author to come up with it. Authors base off from the applications that were sent to them so you would be making it easier for them if you were to point out where a ceratin entry came from or how it ended up that way. Do not make up things without basis.
  12. Make your application clean and neat. Some authors take it into account when the applicants would make it look pretty/cute but do take note that not all authors do that. Clean is better than having too much clutter.
  13. Always be polite to the author. Remember that without them, then there would be no story for you to apply in. Befriend them as well because you might not be accepted as an applicant but at least you will gain a new friend from the experience of applying.
  14. There are so many positions to choose from so is it necessary to take the other positions for granted? Always see if you are capable of making a character for the other positions that applicants find hard to apply for. The challenge is good for you.
  15. Never be too upset if you did not get accepted. There are like a hundred more apply fics you can be a part of. If you are accepted, remember to show gratitude to the author. Always give them motivation to continue the story even after the choosing period.

These are just a few of the things I've thought of. For my new friends, you may not be aware but I am also an author so I know what I'm saying-- (just in case people might think of me as a know-it-all/speak with no proof kind of person.) If anyone read this, thank you. I wish you the best in all the applications you will be making in the future!
