III. But It's Better if You Do
The Ballad of Bae Suzy
Truthfully, they’ve fallen in love with each other. She’d tell him.
But she’d have nothing left to sell him.
-
“Why don’t you ever frown?”
“Do you want me to?”
“I’d pay to see you frown.”
“That means you’d pay for me to be sad.”
“If that’s the only emotion I’m getting from you, I’d be thankful.”
-
As the days go on, Suzy doesn’t notice herself becoming sadder day by day. She doesn’t notice that she loves him
She doesn’t know he loves her.
-
“Suzy, we’re friends, right?”
“No.”
She gets up and leaves.
-
By now, she knows where he lives. She passes by his house from time to time.
To apologize.
-
She knocks on his door.
“What?” He says.
She kisses him. They pull away.
And for the first time since they met, Suzy smiles.
Suzy smiles like she doesn’t care.
