Year 500, Autumn   In the vast territory entirely claimed by the Kingdom of Korea rests its capital, Seoul. In contrast to the almost too peaceful and halcyonic time the kingdom is in, the entire city seems to shake and buzz—purely in excitement. The year 500 marks the both the five hundredth year of the kingdom’s establishment as well as the fiftieth National Festival, and just about everyone is aware of it. Nothing stays still; all things everywhere is in constant motion of some sort. It is almost hectic and chaotic, but no one thinks too much of it, especially in the negative aspect of things. After all, it is the most joyous celebration of the land, and the coronation of a new ruler is the greatest news around for anyone.   For anyone aside from Prince Junmyeon, that is.  Actually, it’s the worst case scenario. His lifetime of careful and even more careful planning is about to be shattered, the purpose of his dreams exterminated; yet, he sits on the patio of the palace, drinking freshly brewed flower tea and admiring its scent while looking at the greens of the scenery ahead.   It is the usually silent bodyguard of the prince that speaks, the graveness of the situation finally breaking through the feigned relaxation. “You are required to attend the coronation, Your Highness.” His voice is low, almost a murmur, as he cautiously eyes the royalty seated only a few feet away from him.   Prince Junmyeon smiles, the ends of his lips curling up ever so slightly. “You are tense, Sehun,” he remarks, scanning the other. “It is quite a rare sight. Quite a pity I have no one to share it with.”   The conversation ends there; even though he’d practically been the prince’s shadow for nearly two decades, Sehun cannot fully comprehend the prince, nor the mere fragments of his thoughts. Knowing this, he does not inquire further. It isn’t in his place to inquire in the first place, but even if things were different, no questions are particularly necessary—he can imagine what the prince’s insides are like, and it isn’t too pleasant.   From behind, however, noise

Chapter 2: this made me wonder, what is the year for the first chapter? is it a few months before the coronation? I suppose it was surprising for the princes that the king found another queen

Chapter 1: oh my god i love feudal AU's, they are the bomb! I also really love female ruler!AUs :) there's always something interesting about courtly manners and deception. that being said, i think you already have a really interesting setup here; there's obviously a lot of edge in junmyeon and jieun's relationship, mostly likely from a political cause? i'm curious how exactly succession works in your story since she'll be queen and junmyeon's father is stepping down and they're not related, haha, but i supposed i'll have to wait to find out about that one!
