I have officially gone insane 

You know that moment when your whole body freezes

And out of the corner of your eyes you see a shadow passing by 

Yet you turn to look and there is nothing there

In the darkness alone there is nothing present 

Only the scents that trigger phantoms in the shadows 

All around, above and below 

Why must thoughts manifest themselves to greater levels?

Enslaving me in unimaginable pain that is both physical and mental 

Thoughts that don’t seem to go away with a simple wish 

Now that it has burrowed into my mind it doesn’t seem to want to leave 

Swirling round and round phantoms in the shadow coming to the light  

Will this affliction stay with me for eternity? 

My heart is thoughtless and my mind is heartless

I need the two to work together and get along

So that the phantoms will go away and stop haunting me

I hope someday I'll find a cure

That the shadows fade away with the light 

That the ghost of the past can stay just that, in the past 

And on that day I will know what it feels like to be sane
