While they were walking next to each other, they ate their ice cream in silence, neither of them saying a word. However, Donghae couldn’t help but steal glances at the blond every now and then. He was happy that Hyukjae hadn’t just walked away, but had accepted the ice cream instead and had even suggested to go for a walk. And what really made him overjoyed was the fact that Hyukjae admitted that he had missed him. He knew that he didn’t just say it to make him happy, Hyukjae sounded sincere. 

“What are you thinking about?” Hyukjae asked, noticing Donghae’s pensive expression.
“Nothing,” the brunette replied, and smiled at him. “I’m just happy, that’s all.”

“Thank you for the ice cream once again,” the blond said. “That’s really what I needed after such a long day at work.”

“Anything for you,” Donghae said with a wink.

Hyukjae had to admit, he had really missed the brunette’s flirty behaviour. He had missed everything about him.

“Let’s sit down for a moment,” Hyukjae then said as he spotted a wooden bench.

They both sat down next to each other, though leaving a bit of space, and they finished the rest of their ice cream. Both remained silent once again and they couldn’t deny that there was some awkwardness in the air. 

Hyukjae wanted to start a conversation, but as he looked at Donghae, he burst into laughter.

“What’s so funny?” Donghae frowned. However, at the same time he felt warmth spread through his body at the sound of the blond’s laughter.

“You have some ice cream on your face,” Hyukjae laughed.
“Where? Here?” Donghae tried to wipe it away, feeling kind of embarrassed. “Is it gone?”

“No,” Hyukjae chuckled, and decided to help him. With his index finger he wiped the ice cream away which was near Donghae’s bottom lip. Donghae, on the other hand, felt his cheeks heating up at the sweet gesture.

“There, it’s gone,” Hyukjae said, and the ice cream off his finger. 

Donghae turned away and he leaned back. At first he had thought it was only his imagination, but now he clearly saw that Hyukjae was behaving different than usual. Different in a good way. He didn’t know what this meant, but he was sure he would soon find out. Maybe he was just trying to be nice to him so that later he wouldn’t feel heartbroken when he turned him down once again.

“Why don’t you just get over with it,” Donghae mumbled, and het let out a sigh. “Instead of wasting your time with me.”

“What do you mean?” Hyukjae asked confused. He noticed that something was upsetting the brunette.

“The reason why you wanted to go for a walk,” Donghae explained, and he gave the blond a pained look. “You want to tell me something. But I already know what you want to tell me, I’ve already expected it anyway.”

Hyukjae let out a sigh and looked away. Despite knowing that he would reject him again, Donghae had showed up at the hair salon after work. Hyukjae really admired him for that, for chasing someone who had rejected him several times already. However, it was time to put an end to it for good.
