Lost

Description

She awoke to the sound of the ruffling leaves as they descended down to the hard ground that lay beneath her, the cold breeze causing them to fly to and fro.  She opened her eyes, blinking them once, then twice, to drive away the sleepiness that threatened to envelop her in its comforting grasp. She took a moment to take it all in; the rich green colour of the world around her, the absence of noise. And for a moment she was at peace. Only for a moment, before it all settled in.

Where am I?

With a deep sigh, she slowly propped herself up, her elbows pushing against the ground to support her weight. Her head throbbed, a dull pain that made its appearance as she finally stood up, although unsteadily, but nevertheless, standing up. Her body felt stiff as she took a few steps forward, her eyes taking in her surroundings as she moved, with no indication as to where she was going. As she walked, she tried to focus, putting all her power into remembering anything. Into remembering where she was or even how she got there.

Suddenly, the rustle of leaves could be heard from her left. She froze.

What was that?
