"Can't you just pay attention to me sometimes?!" Mrs. Park shouted at Mr. Park. "It's always work work work! Never me or us!"
"I'm sorry for working so damn hard to support our family! Do you want me to quit so we can end up on the streets?!"
I gritted my teeth hearing my parents arguing again for the third time this week. Lately, they've been arguing because my Mom could never spend time with my Dad because he's always working. My Dad's a computer engineer for a big company. A company that makes you relocate a few times for business opportunities, which is kinda why I moved to Seoul a few years ago; but thankfully, we haven't moved since.
"We haven't spent time with each other because you're always working!" Mrs. Park shouted again.
I sat my pencil down on my desk and decided to give up on studying. "I can't concentrate.. again." I picked up my headphones and put them on as I plugged it into my phone to play some music to drain out the argument my parents were having. "Everything will be okay, Chohee. They'll stop arguing in five minutes." I repeated those words to myself.
It was always arguments about my Dad being such a workholic and never spending time with us. I didn't mind, really. My Dad was a hardworking man, who wanted to give his family everything. He never wanted us to worry about money so he spent a lot of his time working to support us. My Mom on the other hand, started to get annoyed last week when he came home late around 12AM because he accidently overworked himself with paperwork that he lost track of time.
"They'll be done shouting and yelling at each other in five minutes. I know it." I repeated again as I tried to relax myself by listening to music.
Five minutes passed.
..
Fifteen minutes passed.
Twenty minutes passsed.
....
They never stopped arguing.
