It was just an accident meeting you…

I was afraid at that time, I have my doubts.

You’re a doctor, a professional doctor.

And me, just a famous artist you don’t even know.

Until that day…

I was walking in the seaside, all alone. Suddenly a group of boys, drunken boys played prank on me. It was so easy for them to hit me because I’m too skinny. I tried to call for help but they took my things away. I got nothing to do but to lie down and wait for someone who could see me. They left me behind with nothing…only myself.

MEI LI’S POV

I was driving, headed my way back home. I came from Australia and went back here, United States. I missed this place. I can see the seaside clear, and the light reflected upon it. As I slow my speed down, I saw a guy lying down on the ground. I can’t see him clearly, so I tried opening the yield lights of my car focusing on him. I move closer, I saw that he has bruises and wounds on his body. I suddenly stop and went down from my car.

TAEMIN’S POV

I can only feel the pain those guys did to me. I can’t move nor speak but then I saw a girl standing beside me. She held my head up and tries to help me stand while my arm is on her back. She speaks “Hey, can you walk?” as she asked me, I faced her and nodded. We reached a white car, and then she took me inside. The last words I remember hearing from her was “Don’t worry, you’re going to be fine.” Then I fall asleep.

MEI LI’S POV

I saw this poor little guy, he was too skinny and I can see he is in real pain. I asked myself, what happened to him? All I know is that I’m worried. I hurried my way back home and put a first aid on the bruises and wounds on his body. I was doing this kind of job for 2 years now, I hope he has no internal damage, and I hope he’s going to be fine. It’s past 12 in the midnight and still he is not opening his eyes, I tried to wait but I fall asleep, sitting on the floor with my head over the bed.

TAEMIN’S POV

I woke up this hour; it’s 3 in the morning. I saw the girl sleeping beside me, her head in the bed while her hands entwined mine. I tried to move but I can’t. I saw bandages on my hand and on my body. I asked myself, why then this girl helped me? I was trying to help myself to stand but my body is weak, suddenly I felt her hands moved and her head shook. She looks at me but I closed my eyes easily. I was peeking to see her, then she speaks “Hey, I know you’re awake. Please open your eyes.” I can’t help but to open it and she smiled. I said in a shy voice, “Thanks for helping me.” She did not answer me but then she introduced herself and asked my name, “I am Yoon Mei Li Jii, how about you?” I was in eager to sit down so that I can face her, she helped me out and then she smiled, “I am Lee Taemin, from korea.” I thought that telling my name and my country would help her recognize that I’m a celebrity, but then I failed.

“Then why are you here in States? Having vacation?” she asked me.

I then answered, “Yes. It’s kinda like that.” I smiled.

“May I ask one more thing?” her face was a little bit worried.

I nodded and say “What is it?”, she then answered “What happened to you?”

I was about to answer but she stood up and said, “I have to check my phone. I’ll be back.” Then I said, “Ok.”

From that time, she said goodbye and told me she have to bring me to a hospital so that I can have my check up every now and then. That time, I knew that she was a doctor. Months had passed and I was in the hospital again because of the same accident I had, I was hoping I could see her again but I never had a chance, one time she visited and told me, “Taemin, how are you? I hope you’re doing fine now. I’ll be going back in Australia tomorrow. It was really nice meeting you, and it was a great opportunity to help someone like you. I hope you take care of yourself and eat well. I’ll be leaving you now. Goodbye.” I wasn’t able to answer; all I can give her is a smile that came from my heart. When I saw her walking towards the door and disappeared, I felt pain, like my heart was stabbing by a knife. I don’t know why but then I tried to stand up and chase her. 

I was lucky she’s still standing outside holding something; I called out her name “Yaaa! Yoon Mei Li!” she looked back and hid her hands on her back. In a shock, she hugged me because I was about to fall and said, “I told you to take care of yourself. Why are you here? You’re not even allowed to go out yet.” She helped me to get back inside the room, and there I had the chance to say what I have to. “Hey mei li” I said in a stuttering voice, she faced me and said “what is it?”, I was in doubt to ask but then it came out from my mouth, “Will you marry me?” she answered quickly, “I’m sorry, I can’t. I have a career to focus on and I have a family to take care of.” The only answer I said was “It’s ok. I understand. I also have a career to focus on and a family to take care of, we have the same responsibility. Well, I guess we have to say our goodbyes now. I will be going back to korea also, I hope I can see you somehow.” She didn’t answer and just walked out the door.

That is the last time I saw her and still I am hoping I can see her again.

1 YEAR LATER

MEI LI’S POV

I still have regrets on saying “No” on his proposal. I have to say it because that’s the best answer I can give. We both have careers to take care of. I don’t know what is his, but I know he is doing great. 1 year had passed and I’ll be going back to states again, to have a 2 week vacation. There I am not expecting to see him because the last time I heard, he will go back to korea. Until one day..
“Yaaa, Mei Li! I have two tickets for a concert. Can you accompany me? Please?” as my best friend pleases me. I can’t say No, so I said yes. “Yey! Tom. 3 o’clock. See you at the Minneapolis. Bye. Thank you!!” she ran away. I have no idea what concert it was, but on this ticket a name was written, SHINee Year Of Us Concert. I don’t know what kind of band this is, all I know is I’m not a fan of them.

TAEMIN’S POV

Here I am again, United States. 1 year had passed and still I can’t move on. I still have this feeling in my heart every time I think of her. Now, we will be having a concert but I don’t expect that she’ll be there. She doesn’t even know that I’m an artist, all she knows that I’m a guy who is always at the hospital because of accidents.

MINNEAPOLIS CONCERT GROUND

[ Yaa, mei li. Where are you? The concert will start in 20 mins. ]

( I’m sorry. I had an emergency operation. I will be late 5 mins. I promise I’ll be there to catch up. )

[ aww. Mei li… ]

( I really promise I’ll show up. Ok? )

[ ooh, ok. Well then, I am sitting in the front row. Ok? Just go straight here. Huh? Huh? ]

( Yes yes. I will. Ok bye. ) ----tooot.

MEI LI’S POV

Oh no. Why do I need to go to that concert? I don’t even know who the artists are. Oh, never mind. I texted my best friend saying “I’m on my way. See you”

“Goodness! You’re here! You’re lucky the concert had just began” then I sat down beside her.

TAEMIN’S POV

I looked around, I saw many people shouting and cheering for us. I never expect that it will be this much crowded in here with our fans. The concert will begin in 5 mins. Suddenly, I saw a girl sitting in the front row. She’s familiar to me, I don’t know how but I know I’d met her before. That curly hair she has and the glasses she’s wearing now. Could it be…her?

We went out and started to sing our songs in the album, all the people in here are singing too, except for her.. Could it be, Yoon Mei Li Jii? I have to know.

The concert ended but we had our surprise for our fans, we will pick 5 lucky girls to be in here to have our picture taken with them of course. Now, this is my chance to ask her again. I hope she is ready.

MEI LI’s POV

This concert is one of the biggest events this year, it happened to be that there are more than 2000 fans that went. I was observing those 5 boys who looked like Koreans, well I can say they are because it shows in their language they speak. They had this surprise and luckily my best friend was called and was able to have a picture with them. I saw this guy, a skinny guy I know I’d met before, similar to the guy I helped last year the only thing that differs them is that, the guy I’d met before never spoke Korean but this guy over here speaks Korean well. Maybe, it’s not him.

TAEMIN’S POV

I was the last one to call a girl on stage. Luckily, I always bring this ring in my pocket. I called out a name, “Yoon Mei Li Jii are you here?” No one reacted, only the girl sitting in the front row. 
I was in a shock that this guy knows my name, I looked at him and then he smiled. My best friend stood up and pointing me shouting, “I have a friend! her name is Mei Li, here she is.” All the fans looked on our direction and shouted, “Go up!” I tried not to stand but my friend is pushing me. I had no choice but to show up on stage. He then approached me.

“Yoon Mei Li Jii, do you remember me?” She removed her glasses and she touched my face. I was expecting she’ll say yes but then she looked down and put her glasses again. She said in a shy voice, “I am not sure but I think I remember you.” A smile painted on my face, as I held her hands and said, “I am Lee Taemin, the guy you helped last year. Now you remember?” she nodded. I felt happy and slowly I kneel on bended knees, I asked her “Yoon Mei Li, this is the second time I’m going to ask you this question, Will you marry me?” she was about to let go of my hand but I held it tight, she pulled me up and looked up on me, hugging me and said “Yes. I will.” All the fans screamed and I know they feel jealous, but then this is the happiest day of my life, so as it’s the best day. I had the girl I wanted for long. 

Now, we are both living in Korea. She continued her job here but then she is studying our language of course, and me? I’m also continuing my career though we’re busy we still find time with each other. We both live happy and the reason of this thing is called “Accident-ally inlove.”
