Welcome to HV's Cakes and Sweets

Welcome to HV's Cakes and Sweets

The lecture lasted longer than what Tiffany had predicted.

She let out a heavy breath as the old and soon-to-be deaf lecturer finally ended the day’s session. He came late so he also finished late. Seriously, he should just retire. No offense, but Tiffany hated how he hardly ever been on time. It made her upset, because after this she had an appointment, which she had been looking forward for the past days, and she was going to be late too.

There was a friend she found through some mutual friends online. They had a lot of common interests, so not long after they bumped into each other, online, of course, they were already able to communicate comfortably. Tiffany found it impressive that this one online friend had more interesting things than most of her real-life friends did. They had been ‘friends’ for the past three months, just by communicating online, and had never met face to face.

And finally, this time, they promised for a meet-up.

Tiffany quickly gathered her belongings and exited the huge room. She waved to her friends, they already knew her plan. With rushed steps, she walked through the campus’ corridors. It was their first meeting and Tiffany was late. She kind of felt uneasy.

She was the one who suggested the place. HV’s Cakes and Sweets, a small tartlet shop and café, not too far from her campus. The cakes were a bit pricey, but the taste was no doubt, the best. Luckily, her online friend knew where the café was too, so Tiffany didn’t have to tell her where. It’s just her friend hadn’t been there before. So it should be her first this time.

On her way there, Tiffany tried to remember her friend’s face. She had only seen some photos. She was pale white, dark brown haired, and short, her friend said. She hoped she could recognize her later, and vice versa, because it would be funny if they couldn’t and just sat there on different tables waiting for each other.

Finally. Tiffany quickened her steps as she saw the shop. Half-running, she finally reached it, and pushed the door open with a hushed breath.

“Welcome to HV’s Cakes and Sweets.” A cashier greeted her.

She smiled at the young cashier, they knew each other but Tiffany didn’t remember her name, sadly. She then eyed the shop. It wasn’t crowded. It was small and cozy. Tiffany felt like she had made the right choice. She anxiously roamed her eyes through each costumer, and her eyes landed on a girl sitting alone at the corner.

The girl was looking down, mouth slightly munching, a hand was holding a small fork, a phone on the other hand, and she had long, dark brown hair. Dark brown.

Tiffany couldn’t hold her smile. That’s her friend!

She quickly rushed to the girl’s table.

“Hi!” She said, it was so loud so the girl and all the customers inside jerked their heads at her, surprised, “I’m Tiffany! Finally we meet!”

The girl was stunned for a second, stopped munching as she tried to speak, “Uh--”

“I’m sorry, have you been waiting for long?” Tiffany took a seat across the girl and wiped her slightly sweaty forehead, “The lecturer was super long I almost died. You remember that old lecturer I’ve once told you? Yeah, it was him! That’s why I’m late, I’m sorry.”

The girl didn’t say anything. She just munched and gulped slowly.

“So, how’s the place? Good, isn’t it? It’s your first time, right?”

“I’m--”

“The cakes here taste the best, I guarantee. And, oh!” Tiffany looked at the slice of a cake on the table, the one the girl was eating, “You’ve ordered the red velvet one! You must’ve waited for pretty long, yeah?”

“I don’t--”

“The red velvet one is actually nice, in my opinion. But it would be much nicer if you add an ice cream topping. It’s on the menu. Yeah… kind of expensive and stuff, but worth for the taste, right?” She then cackled.

The girl awkwardly smiled as she put her phone and fork down, “Actually I don’t--”

“By the way, how was your trip to Daegu? I’ve never been there before so I’m curious. Tell me about it!”

“……. I, uh--”

Suddenly Tiffany felt her phone on her grip buzzed. She smiled at the girl, excusing herself to check it. She unlocked it and soon she frowned deeply.

There was a message. From her online friend. Tiffany quickly opened it.

Hi, Tiffany. I’m really, really sorry I can’t go today. Are you there already? I’m sorry I have something urgent to finish T.T I’ll make it up to you next time! I promise! But forgive me this time T.T I’m really sorry…

Her eyes widened.

She jerked her head at the girl who was sitting across her, still with her confused stare at the former. Wait a second…

Tiffany gulped.

“Y-you’re… you’re not Taeyeon, are you?”

The girl’s confused expression faltered and she formed a small smile by her lips as she shook her head with, “I’m Jessica.”

It was Tiffany’s turn to be stunned before she loudly sighed and put both palms covering her face, “Oh my God…”

Tiffany felt like she had just done the most embarrassing thing on earth. What the hell was that? She literally talked to a total stranger, whom she thought was her online friend, just because of the hair! Just the hair! Well, to think about it, this Jessica girl actually had a kind of similar look to the photos her online friend showed her, though. But still, she shouldn’t have been this stupid.

So, so stupid of her.

“Taeyeon, you said?”

The girl then asked and Tiffany slowly pried her own hands away, trying to bear with the embarrassment. She nodded slowly.

“That’s okay. This won’t be the first time someone mistakes me as Taeyeon, and vice versa.”

Tiffany held her cringe as best as possible when the girl said that. That didn’t make her feel better. She might be friendly, but that didn’t make her at the stage to comfortably chat with a complete stranger.

But the girl, or Jessica, looked quite relaxed. She smiled again at Tiffany before she continued eating her red velvet cake and played with her phone, as if there was nothing happened. Maybe she was used to it. Even though she must’ve felt very uncomfortable.

“Umm… I’m sorry…” Tiffany mumbled, still keeping her head down.

Jessica smiled, again, and she looked so kind it made Tiffany felt a stronger guilt instead. She nodded her head without saying anything because she was busy munching. Tiffany wanted to just leave, but seeing how Jessica didn’t show any sign to shoo her away, she hesitated and didn’t exactly know what to do.

“You said the red velvet cake with ice cream topping is good.” Jessica suddenly said, and Tiffany awkwardly nodded, “Is that what you like the most here?”

The way Jessica talked so casually confused Tiffany. Probably she was just trying to be nice, so Tiffany went with the flow.

“I’ve tried all the menus here. They’re all nice but I think my favorite is still the tiramisu one. With ice cream topping, of course.”

“You’ve tried all of the menus?” Jessica raised her eyebrows, impressed.

“Yeah, I have.” Tiffany confidently nodded, “It’s worth the price because it’s just so good, all of them. Even though I would be so much glad if there’s a discount or something, you know…”

Jessica chuckled and crossed her arms, “Is that why you made an appointment here with Taeyeon? Because you like it here?”

Hearing her online friend’s name reminded her of the embarrassing event earlier so she couldn’t help but cringe.

“Yeah, I guess…”

“Taeyeon has never been here.” Jessica sighed, “I don’t know how many times she had promised me but she just never actually did.”

Tiffany slightly frowned hearing that. What relation did this Jessica girl have with Taeyeon? It wasn’t like she knew Taeyeon well but she was just… curious.

“She’s my cousin.” Jessica then said, as if she could read Tiffany’s mind.

“Ah…” Tiffany nodded her head. No wonder they kind of looked alike, “I see. Taeyeon is… a friend I found online. Yeah, you know, mutual friends and all. I’ve never met her before. We were supposed to meet today here but she said she couldn’t come.”

“That’s too bad. Once again she threw a chance of coming here.”

Tiffany only awkwardly smiled at that. Why was Jessica so eager to bring Taeyeon here?

“By the way,” Jessica started again, “tiramisu cake with ice cream topping you said?”

“Yeah, why?”

“I’ll be right back.”

Tiffany gaped when Jessica stood up and walked to the cashier. There was no way she was going to buy her that, right? Just when she thought Jessica would order, the dark brown haired girl easily made her way through the cashier and opened the refrigerator behind it. Tiffany frowned harder when she saw Jessica prepared the cake herself.

Did she work here or something?

“Here you go.”

When Jessica came back and put Tiffany’s favorite menu on the table, the latter could feel drool at the sight. She stared at Jessica in disbelief. Was she, by any chance, a pastry chef here?

“What--”

“I guess you’re a quite loyal costumer. So, to thank you for that…” She gestured at the cake, “please enjoy. It’s on me.”

Tiffany’s eyes lit up, “You work here?”

“You can say so.”

“Wow!” She shrieked, probably almost as loud as her first greeting earlier, “It’s amazing! I mean, you’re amazing! Thank you so much!”

Jessica laughed, “It’s nothing.”

Tiffany felt like her day had been turned upside down. Well, she indeed bumped into a wrong person, but in the end she got herself a free tiramisu cake with ice cream topping, her favorite! This was definitely one of her best days ever and she absolutely didn’t mind her embarrassing act because it brought her to this girl, to Jessica, who was a worker at the shop and kindly gave her a free treat.

Welcome to HV’s Cakes and Sweets, indeed.

-

I met your cousin, and I thought she was you.

Tiffany should’ve typed with an annoyed expression, but instead she was smiling dreamily remembering her unexpected meeting with Jessica.

She spent a really long time talking with the girl, about everything that crossed her mind, because she was a talkative person. She figured that Jessica was older than both Taeyeon and her, that she had graduated college and currently focusing on pastry, and that she lived in the same apartment as Taeyeon, but she couldn’t meet her cousin often because both of them were busy.

The nicest part was, when Tiffany was about to leave right before the sun set, Jessica willingly handed her a box of four slices of cakes with different tastes, for free. Tiffany refused but Jessica insisted, which they had a pretty long argument, witnessed by the cashier and other customers, but in the end Tiffany couldn’t hold herself and agreed. Seriously, that pastry chef was a saint.

It was funny indeed. One moment they were strangers, but the next it felt like they were old friends meeting after a long time.

You mean Jessica? Or did she introduce herself as Sooyeon…

Yes, Jessica. She’s so nice. Like, really, so nice. I mean, I literally made her uncomfortable but she was so friendly she even gave me cakes for free!

She wondered if Jessica had to pay to her boss because of that. One slice of a cake was pricey already, so she couldn’t imagine four slices of cakes with different tastes. Why was she that kind just because Tiffany praised the shop a lot? Or was she actually rich so it wasn’t a big deal for her?

You’re lucky you met her. She’s usually busy going here and there. But I feel bad, though, that I haven’t been there…

She said the same thing too. Seriously Taeyeon, you should go there. After meeting her, I feel like the cakes are tastier. She’s too kind…

Like, seriously, what kind of blessing did she get for bumping into a wrong person today?

I know, she’s kind that way to the people who praise the shop.

I guess so. How long has she been working there, though? I would still feel bad if she had to pay to her boss for the cakes she gave me free.

Tiffany waited anxiously for the reply, but when it came, she couldn’t help but let out the loudest gasp of the day.

Umm… I guess she didn’t tell you that she’s actually the owner of the shop?

What?!

-

Tiffany felt like she needed to do something to return Jessica’s kindness. The thoughts had been bothering her, especially after Taeyeon told her that Jessica was the owner of Tiffany’s favorite tartlet shop. But sadly she didn’t have Jessica’s contact. They didn’t exchange numbers when they met. Well, it wasn’t like it was necessary, though.

She tried to come again, but the cashier said Jessica was away. Taeyeon was right. Tiffany was lucky that time she met Jessica, because the cashier also said that Jessica was quite busy. When Tiffany asked when Jessica would be present, the cashier herself said she wasn’t sure. Jessica would come and go randomly, without a clear schedule.

I think she left for Japan.

Tiffany frowned reading Taeyeon’s message. It had been more than a week since her meeting with Jessica, and she hadn’t met her again. Almost every day she made sure to go to the shop, only to get the cashier’s apologetic smile, saying that Jessica wasn’t there.

Japan? For what?

Her pastry guru is there.

Ah, so that was where Jessica studied pastry. Taeyeon had also told her that Jessica often travelled far to Europe or America just because of her obsession to pastry. Tiffany now realized that their topic of talk was dominated by Jessica lately.

I see. Do you know when she will be back?

I don’t know. We don’t communicate much. Why are you so impatient, anyway?

I just want to repay her kindness. I mean, she gave me four slices, oh, five, actually, including the tiramisu one with ice cream topping, for free, Taeyeon. For free. Just because I said I had tried all of the menus there. Just because of that!

And as expected, she had already eaten all the cakes.

Okay. Want me to give you her number?

Tiffany put her pen down after she read that message. Should she get Jessica’s number? It could make things easier for her, though. She could make an actual appointment with the girl much easier that way.

If you think that’s a good idea, then sure, please do.

-

Three days. Tiffany waited for three days, and there was still no reply from Jessica.

She put her phone down with a sigh after she had read the text, which wasn’t from Jessica but from someone else saying the day’s lecture was cancelled because that old lecturer fell sick. Tiffany scoffed at that. She had been waiting for almost an hour in the library but suddenly it got cancelled. Great.

She closed her book and put it back inside her handbag. The day before, she bought a pretty huge amount of books thanks to Taeyeon. Yes, she finally met Taeyeon, accidentally, in a bookstore. She was looking for a book her lecturer told her, and all his students, to buy, and Taeyeon was there too coincidentally.

And Tiffany concluded that Taeyeon and Jessica were really related.

They looked alike. Only Taeyeon was paler and shorter. But they resembled each other. Taeyeon was quite a bookworm. So she recommended many books for Tiffany to read, resulting the latter buying more than she should. But it was a great meeting. They blended well together.

When Tiffany stepped out of her campus, it was kind of dark and cloudy. She didn’t bring an umbrella with her so she should find a shorter way to go home. Ah, right. She could pass by HV’s Cakes and Sweets.

From afar, the shop usually looked so tiny and small compared to the stores beside it. But this time, Tiffany saw some male employees were busy decorating in front of the shop. What was the special occasion? Or probably… a huge sale?

That was quite a wishful thinking.

Tiffany was about to walk away before she saw the door opened from inside and a girl walked out.

Oh?

She saw Jessica. Yes, it was Jessica. She walked out from the shop, covering her forehead probably because of the wind, and talked to an employee who was standing on a ladder. Tiffany smiled instantly. Jessica was there!

“Hi!” She quickly approached Jessica brightly.

Jessica turned to her and smiled. She looked tanner compared to the last time. Probably had a good time sunbathing in wherever she went.

“Tiffany? Hi, it’s been a while.”

“Yes. I heard from Taeyeon that you went to Japan.”

“Ah, I did. There was something I needed to do there.” Jessica nodded, “By the way, have you met Taeyeon?”

“Yes, I have! Yesterday, we met accidentally in a bookstore.”

“Not in this shop?” Jessica frowned, jokingly.

“No, sorry.” Tiffany laughed, “But next time I’ll make sure to bring her here.”

“That sounds promising.”

Tiffany only nodded with a light chuckle before gesturing to the male employees, “So, what’s going on here? Is there any special occasion or something?”

“Ah, this?” Jessica looked at her employees, and the decoration, “Just… something…”

Before Jessica could explain more, the employees started talking to her again, half-shouting because apparently the wind made things difficult for them. Tiffany realized Jessica might be busy, so she better excuse herself.

“Hey, you seem busy. I probably should just…”

Tiffany gestured herself saying she would leave, and Jessica understood.

“Ah, alright. We’re a little bit busy today.” Jessica scratched the back of her neck, “But, umm… Tiffany, can you come tomorrow?”

“Tomorrow?”

“Yeah. I have a favor to ask. It’s not difficult. You’d help me, right?”

“Sure, sure. I’ll come tomorrow after the lecture.”

“Great. See you tomorrow. Be careful on your way home.”

Jessica awkwardly waved and Tiffany did the same no less awkwardly before she finally took her leave. On the way home, she couldn’t erase her curiosity of this favor Jessica had for her the next day.

-

You two seem closer than I thought…

Tiffany frowned reading the message from Taeyeon. She sneaked in the middle of the boring lecture to have some conversation with the other girl. She told Taeyeon about her second encounter with Jessica, and how the older asked her to come to her shop the day after.

We’re… not, though? But she’s friendly and kind, that’s all.

And probably because Tiffany liked her tartlet shop, that’s why.

No, it’s okay. Jessica doesn’t really have close friends aside from work. Probably you’ll be an exception.

But I got to know her through the shop, Tae. It’s work-related.

Yes, but you don’t necessarily work in the same field as her. So, still an exception.

It made Tiffany cackle softly. Well, yeah, they met two times and talked nicely to each other, but Tiffany still didn’t think she could consider Jessica as her close friend.

When her lecture finally ended, Tiffany headed straight to HV’s Cakes and Sweets. The sky was quite cloudy, even a little bit more than a day before. She quickened her steps in case the rain would fall down soon. But when she reached the shop, the closed sign was shown clearly on the front door.

Wait, what? It was closed?

Tiffany peeked inside. The store was kind of dark from outside. But then she caught a glimpse of Jessica from behind the cashier. She smiled when she saw Jessica hurriedly walked to open the door for her.

“Hi, Tiffany,” Jessica greeted her when they were both inside.

“Hi…” Tiffany looked around, and there was no one except Jessica there, “you’re alone? And it’s closed already?”

“Yeah, we closed early today.”

“Why?”

“It’s because I’m working on something. I’ll show you. Here, here, take a seat.” Jessica pulled a seat for Tiffany, “Wait a minute, I’ll prepare it.”

“Okay…”

Tiffany sat down and Jessica went back inside the kitchen. The former couldn’t see what Jessica was doing, so she observed the empty shop. The sky was dark and the light inside was dim. It gave chill vibes to Tiffany, in a good way. And it was silent. There was no music playing like usual, so Tiffany could hear the sounds Jessica made from the kitchen.

She was making something.

Minutes later, Jessica finally returned with a freshly made slice of a cake. Tiffany’s eyes lit up instantly seeing the unfamiliar cake.

“Wow, what is this?”

“It’s what I’ve been working on.” Jessica said, putting two small spoons on the table as she sat down across Tiffany, “Belgian chocolate cake. Our soon-to-be newest menu.”

“Wow! This is amazing! It hasn’t been sold yet?”

“Nope. Soon, maybe. I’ve asked all my employees and some of my family members to taste it, and they all said nice things. Now I need your opinion, since you umm… kind of represent the customers?”

“Is this the favor you meant?”

Jessica nodded.

“Whoa…” Tiffany’s lips parted, amazed. Out of all people, Jessica wanted to ask her opinion? Which meant she should taste this cake she had never eaten before?

“Yeah. So, please,” Jessica pushed a spoon to Tiffany.

Tiffany nodded and took her spoon. She carefully sliced a bite and quickly put it inside . It tasted… new. The shop didn’t have any chocolate cake in the menu before, so Tiffany was glad she finally could taste a decent one from the shop, and even better, it was made by Jessica herself.

It didn’t taste bad. No, not at all.

“How?” Jessica asked, anxious.

“It’s good.” Tiffany said, took another bite to prove her point, “Really, I mean it.”

“Is it? Or is it too sweet? Too soft? Too--”

“No, no. It’s good, Jessica. It’s just… good.”

Jessica paused for a moment, before her shoulders relaxed and she rested her back with a relieved sigh.

“That’s good to know.”

They both went silent for a moment. Jessica then grabbed her spoon and ate the cake together with Tiffany. Because it was silent, both of them realized that it was raining pretty hard outside. But it felt warm inside the shop.

“Taeyeon told me that your pastry guru is in Japan.” Tiffany started again.

“Yes, my teacher is in there. He teaches me everything about pastry.”

“You seem really into pastry. Why?”

“Hmm…” Jessica hummed, her fingers tapping the table, “actually, there is another thing I like, beside pastry. It’s business.”

“Business? You like business?”

“I majored in business in college. And as for pastry, I never formally learned it. I just… took lessons here and there before I finally met my teacher in Japan. So, yeah. That’s why I opened this shop. Because business and pastry are my two favorite things.”

Tiffany nodded her head, “I see. It must be nice having the two as one.”

No wonder the shop did pretty well. Knowing that Jessica majored in business and also loved pastry at the same time, she must worked really well because she liked her job.

“You know, I’ve always been wondering,” Tiffany said, half-munching, “what does HV stand for?”

Jessica chuckled as she gulped the cake before she answered, “Heaven.”

“Ah…”

“My mother suggested it but I thought ‘heaven’ would be too cringe-worthy so we shortened it to HV. It’s much better that way, isn’t it?”

“Yeah, I guess so.” She nodded again, “So, you only took lessons for pastry. Are those enough? I mean, you make tasty cakes. It’s rare, Jessica.”

“I think it would never be enough, actually. I still need to learn more and there’s no end to it. I also need to know how pastry is liked or viewed in various countries. There are just a lot of things about pastry.”

“Taeyeon said you often travel far just because of pastry.”

“Yeah, I do that sometimes.”

“Wow, that’s cool. Is there any plan to do so in anytime soon?”

Jessica smiled with a nod, “I’m going to Europe this week.”

Tiffany took a second before she smiled back, “That’s… good to hear. You’re going to Europe. That’s nice.”

Again, they both went silent. Tiffany took the last bite of the cake and put the spoon down after. So, Jessica would go to Europe. It meant that Tiffany wouldn’t be able to see her for some time. The thought bugged her, somehow.

“When will you be back?”

Jessica raised her eyebrows, “Oh, why? You miss me already?”

Tiffany scoffed at the joke and Jessica laughed heartedly.

“Alright, Jessica, umm… I think I need to go home now. It’s dark and I still have assignments to finish, you know.”

“Sure, sure. But it’s raining. You don’t bring umbrella with you, right? I’ll drive you home.”

“No, no, my place is not too far.”

“Then I’ll walk you. Okay?”

Tiffany tried to find a reason to refuse, but she had no choice. It was raining and she indeed didn’t bring an umbrella.

“Okay.”

-

The walk home was mostly filled with silence. Tiffany hugged herself while Jessica held the umbrella for both of them. The streets were pretty crowded, but the pavements were empty. Tiffany lived in a dorm and her room was up on the 5th floor, so when they arrived, they stopped in front of the entrance door.

“We’re here, in my dorm.” Tiffany said.

“It looks… comfortable.”

“It is, but also noisy at the same time. Most of my friends are here.”

Jessica chuckled, “At least it makes you feel warm.”

“Yeah, I guess.” Tiffany hummed as she pushed her hands inside her coat pocket, “So, thank you, Jessica. For the Belgian chocolate cake and for the walk.”

“No problem. Also thank you for coming and tasting it.”

“It’s my pleasure. And umm… have fun in Europe?”

A nod, “Two weeks, Tiffany.”

“Huh?”

“Come again in two weeks.”

With that Jessica waved her hand and walked away. Tiffany stared at her back in silence before the girl disappeared from the sight. She smiled at that. The sweet taste of the cake was still lingering inside . Two weeks, Jessica said.

So two weeks it is.

-

“Thank you, Miss Hwang.”

Tiffany bowed her head slightly before excusing herself. She massaged the back of her neck as she walked out of her lecturer’s room. It ached badly because Tiffany couldn’t have a decent sleep thanks to the overflowing assignments. Well, it was actually her fault because she procrastinated too much until she had to hurry before the deadline.

At last she finally finished it, and submitted it to the old and annoying lecturer. At least she would have the rest of the day jobless. She would just go home and--

Her phone suddenly buzzed. There was a message. Probably from Taeyeon.

She lazily stopped in a corner of her campus’ hall and took her phone from her handbag. And it wasn’t from Taeyeon.

I thought I told you to come again in two weeks.

Tiffany blinked after she read it. The number was unknown. But the only ‘two weeks’ she remembered was…

Oh, right. It had been more than two weeks and Tiffany didn’t even realize it.

It was a good thing that she was jobless, so she went to the shop immediately. She opened the door but the greeting was a bit different.

“Welcome to HV’s Cakes and--”

“Long time no see.”

Both the cashier and Tiffany jerked their heads to the girl, to Jessica, who was standing by a stall with her expressionless face. Tiffany couldn’t help but felt a slight lift of her mood seeing Jessica. It had been a really while. More than two weeks passed since they met the last time, and finally they were here.

Tiffany walked to her with an apologetic smile, “Hi, I’m sorry. I got caught up in assignments. And before you ask, of course I counted the days, but for the assignments, not for you.”

“No wonder.”

“Hey, it’s not my fault that my lecturer is annoying, alright? The assignments he gave me were inhuman. I lost my sleep for the past five days finishing those.”

Jessica only nodded her head, still with her emotionless face.

“Why are you so eager in meeting me again, anyway? You miss me that much?”

It was Jessica’s turn to scoff at the joke. She didn’t answer as she turned around to grab something from behind her and then extended it to Tiffany.

The younger frowned seeing a box was being shoved to her. Free cakes again?

“Are those--”

“Free, yeah, so that you’re going to owe me.”

“No, no, not again. I’m going to pay for it this time.”

“No, I said it’s free. I’m a bit busy today, so just take it and leave. And owe me something.”

“What the… alright, if that’s what you say.” She scoffed back, “What do I owe you this time, then?”

“A Friday night.”

Tiffany blinked. What was that?

“Or… Saturday night. Or, both. Oh, yes, both. Since you took longer than two weeks, then both. You owe me Friday and Saturday nights.”

Tiffany crossed her arms, “So you’re asking me--”

“A date, yeah. Or dates. Whatever you say it.”

The younger was left stunned for a moment. Did Jessica really…

“I’m a bit busy today, Tiffany. So can you--”

“Alright, alright.” Tiffany grasped the free cakes from Jessica’s grip, “Stop with the long face. I owe you dates, okay? And sorry for passing the two weeks mark. But believe me, I’m happy to see you again.”

Then she surged forward and placed a light kiss on Jessica’s cheek.

“Until next time?”

And then she took her leave, smiling, with the sweet taste of the cakes already lingered on the tip of her tongue.

Too much sweets wasn’t good for her health indeed, but she didn’t mind anymore.

I wrote this right before a terrifying exam, just so I would not get too tensed thinking about it. This exam will be some kind of... a turning point for me? So I hope I'll do well...

And of course, tell me what you think :)
