He still didn't understand why his feelings couldn't be returned because there had certainly been some chemistry between the two, but it didn't matter.

The other didn't love him.

And strangely enough, that was okay with him.

He wanted the other to be happy and obviously the key to that happiness was not him.

Sure it hurt, but that was bound to happen, right? Everything hurts unless it goes the way we want it to, but if everything went our way, we wouldn't be satisfied with life. Just the aspect of life would become boring.

Life is sad sometimes.

At least that's what he thinks until it hits him. Quite literally, in fact. It hits him in the form of a boy on a skateboard.
