Jongdae couldn’t sleep in the dark now; had to have the lights on.
He would not be able to sleep with them on, regardless. Not with Baekhyun curled up, motionless, in the respirator. Not with his starter, his Flareon, this way.

Looking back, that was the start of the end of Jongdae’s trainer journey. What him and Baekhyun experienced in the Tower had broken the fragile link of trust that secured them together.
They had put up a good fight, good enough to have come close – four challenges to the ghost tower in slightly over a week, so close to winning – but they hadn’t won, and that was the truth. That Jongdae and Baekhyun, trainer and starter, proud owners of three gym badges, didn’t fully trust one another.
The ghost tower had shown them that; had wiped away any delusions that Jongdae and Baekhyun had, of their partnership working out.
Jongdae’s team had been built around battling, but now they had a Trainer who couldn't battle.
