There's nothing better than sitting back and skimming through the latest crop of fics on a cold winter evening when you have no intention of braving the temperatures outside, but rather intend to spend the night snuggled up with a hot beverage and some stories.
You find one that looks good a juicy and dig in! And then something happens, something terrible. Something that makes you cringe!
Its the sad use of that phrase again. You know the one. The phrase that you see over and over in ever-so-many stories to the point of near painful repetition. Suddenly, you find yourself rolling your eyes rather than enjoying that moment of heightened passion between the protagonists.
What to do? How...HOW can we stop the madness of overused descriptors?
Let's brainstorm, shall we?

Is it just me? Is it a personal pet peeve, or do we all have that moment where we say "Not again!"?
I'm going to do my damnedest to come up with some alternative words and phrases that can replace those of yesteryear. Help a sister out! Have something that really drives you bananas? Do you see that one stinkin phrase and think to yourself, "That's IT! I QUIT!"? Then do please leave a comment and I'll add it to the list.

Think I'm being nitpicky and y? YOU THINK I HAVEN'T USED THESE MYSELF! I get on my own nerves sometimes when I reach for the old reliable overused nonsense that ends up in every other scene I write.
