Soojung woke up, feeling excited for Christmas. And to see her best friend. She checked her phone to check whether she had any messages from him.

There was none. She would have hoped that he would have texted her about picking her up to go to the park or the mall together. They always spent

their Christmas that way.

''It's okay Soojung ah, you know better than to get your hopes up. You won't ever have a chance with him. He never liked you anyway.'' Yes, the ice

princess of the school, Jung Soojung, had fallen in love with the one guy that she had ever trusted. They had been paired up for a project some few

years ago.

''Jung Soojung and Kim Jongin, you are to work together for this project.'' The two people were about to protest but they were met with

the teacher's menacing glare and shut up.

''So when do you want to meet up?'' Jongin nonchalantly asked her while chewing gum.

''I don't know. I'm usually free. How about today?''

''Up to you. Where? At your house?''

''Okay.''

And so the two of them met up at the Jung's residence. They quarelled all the time and and could not even decide on what to do. After

what felt like eternity, the two of them finally came to a decision.

The project went on for months and the two of them worked as hard as they could for a good grade. In the process of doing so, they had

become closer and would always be seen together. The students thought that they would eventually date in the later part of their life, and

the thought made Soojung happy. The only thing was that, they had been friends for almost 4 years and Soojung had fallen in love with

him. She had absolutely no idea why. Maybe it was because he was extremely protective of her and never allowed her to date any boys.

''Soojung shi, do you want to have lunch later on?'' A guy bashfully asked her in class. Soojung bit her lip and was about to answer when

she felt a guy's arms around her. She looked at the owner and smiled when he said to the guy,

''Sorry, she's not interested. Now go.'' He shooed him with his hands.

''Why do you always do that? I don't think it's fair for the other guys who muster their courage to ask me out and before I can even reject

them myself, you come and scare them away.'' Not that she didn't like it of course. She just didn't know whether he was doing that

because he liked her or because he thought of her as a sister.

''I don't want you to date them. They are not good enough for you.'' He ruffled her hair.

It was those kind of actions that made her fall for him. They say it's never good to fall for your own best friend, but with that heart and face, Soojung

couldn't resist it. Those actions that he did for her made her have hope that maybe, just maybe he liked her back. She walked to the park  and her

heart stopped. In front of her, was a horrible sight. Jongin was kissing a girl. Soojung sighed and looked down. It was Christmas Eve and she had to

have her heart broken by seeing her best friend kiss another girl. For once, why couldn't her love be returned? She realised that tears were streaming

down her face and was suddenly aware that she was in a place where everyone could see her. Including her best friend. 

''Oh, Soojung ah!'' He shouted. He frowned when she ran away. He had caught a glimpse of her face. It was contorted in pain and he was worried that

she had hurt herself. He was too dumb to even realise that he was the one that hurt her.

''Sorry Jiyeon ah, thanks for trying but I need to go see her.'' He told the girl who was helping him and ran after Soojung. He knocked on her door and

was greeted by a crying Soojung.

''Soojung ah, what happened? Are you okay? What happened baby? Tell me.'' He cupped her face, worry evident on his face.

''Nothing Jongin ah.''

''Well this certainly isn't nothing. Tell me, don't lie to me and to yourself. You know I hate it when you don't tell me the truth!'' He was almost shouting.

Soojung had enough. She wanted to be happy and come clean about her feelings for him. She was tired of keeping it to herself and seeing him with

other girls.

''I like you Jongin ah.'' She finally said. Jongin just stared at her with an unreadable expression. Soojung felt her tears coming again. Why did she even

hope? Now she ruined their friendship. She swallowed the lump in and croaked out.

''I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. I-I'm so sorry.'' She was crying fully now and was about to close the door but Jongin was broken out of his

daze.

''Why are you sorry?'' He asked her with an amused expression.

''Don't you hate me? Don't you want our friendship to end? I commited a crime by falling for you.''

''Don't say that baby. I would never hate you. And lucky for you too, I fell in love with you years ago.'' With that, he sealed her vrigin lips with a kiss.

''Then why would you kiss another girl?'' Soojung asked, confused.

''Jiyeon was asking for my help in kissing. You know me, renowned playboy. I mean, that was before I fell for you. She wanted to practice with

someone who was never going to fall for her.'' He smiled at the blushing girl.

''Oh...''

''So you see, if you say that you commited a crime by falling for your best friend, I guess we committed a perfect crime then. ''

''I love you Jongin ah.''

''I love you too.''
