Starting the year with a bang: YoonHyun

Happy Holidays!

"Slow day, huh?" Taeyeon asked Tiffany and Seohyun when she arrived from running some errands for the coffee shop.

"Yes, babe." Tiffany said with a small pout as she hugged the small girl and kissed her cheek.

"I'm not surprised, I mean, it's christmas." Seohyun said as she leaned on the counter and watched the empty shop.

"I told the manager that I saw no use in opening today." Taeyeon said as she wrapped her arms around Tiffany. "But all he said was that he didn't care, that those were orders from the owner."

"At least he's paying us more for staying here on Christmas Eve." Tiffany said. "Lucky we don't have anywhere to be today, huh?"

"At least I'm with you." Taeyeon replied smugly and kissed Tiffany lightly.

"I'm still here, please, be mindful of others, specially me when kissing." Seohyun said as she rolled her eyes at her affectionate friends.

"Oh come on Seohyun, it was just a small peck." Tiffany said teasingly at the younger girl.

"But I already get enough eyeful of your activities at the apartment, seriously, if I had stayed in Korea to study I wouldn't be suffering from this." Seohyun said with a huff as she noticed Taeyeon and Tiffany were up for a wave of teasing towards her.

"We didn't tell you to stay with us, though." Tiffany replied with a smile.

"You told me that if I decided on living in California I could stay with you!" Seohyun replied quickly.

"We honestly thought you wouldn't accept." Taeyeon said nonchalantly. "Plus, you wouldn't have stayed with us this long if you actually suffered watching us, admit it, your is that you're a vouyerist."

Seohyun's face turned red and as that happened, her whole body turned a light shade of pink, causing the older girls to laugh at her and of course, causing her to turn even redder.

Before she could collect herself together and be able to reply, a small bell sounded, announcing the entrance of their first client of the night.

Seohyun coughed in order to shake the embarrassment off, standing in front of the cash register.

"I'll take these boxes to the storage room." Taeyeon said, releasing Tiffany from their embrace.

"I'll go with you." Tiffany replied. "Promise we won't take long, Seo."

"Good evening, what can we serve you today?" Seohyun said her everyday line as she slowly lifted her gaze, being able to shake the embarrassment off, and almost gawked at the beautiful customer that stood in front of her.

"Good evening." The girl said with a beautiful smile and Seohyun couldn't help but blush as the eyes of the young woman in front of her met with her own. "It's my first time in this shop, anything you could recommend me?"

Seohyun nodded shyly because she had never seen a girl as beautiful as the one that stood in front of her.

"Uh... I recommend our macchiato, the caramel macchiato is particularly popular, our expresso or our americano." Seohyun replied professionally, although she couldn't take her eyes off the beautiful girl with the red beanie and the cute bangs.

"So those are the popular ones?" The girl asked and Seohyun nodded. "But which one do you like the most?"

"Me?" Seohyun asked incrediously and the girl nodded with a smile. "I.. I honestly like the toffee nut latte the best."

The girl smiled and nodded.

"Okay then I'd like a Toffee Nut Latte, regular size and a sandwich please." Seohyun nodded and told the girl her total.

The girl handed her the total and Seohyun muttered a small thanks.

"No, thank you, umm.." The girl said as she peaked at Seohyun's tag name. "Joohyun."

Seohyun's face turned even redder then, her name rolled off perfectly from the beautiful girl's tongue and she couldn't help but think the way she said her name, was the most beautiful way she had ever been called.

Seohyun handed the girl her change.

"In a moment your order will be ready." Seohyun said with a smile.

"Aren't you going to ask for my name, Joohyun?" The girl said with a smile slightly different than the ones from before. "I mean, for when you call out for me when the order's ready."

Seohyun chuckled slightly at this.

"I don't think it will be necessary, as you can notice, you're the only one in here." Seohyun replied with a small smile, similar to the other girl's, feeling slightly more confident thanks to the easy going attitude the other girl possesed.

"But what if suddenly a bunch of people enters and you need to call out for me to pick up my order?" The girl asked playfully, leaning closer to Seohyun over the counter, the latter blushed harder but that didn't stop her own playful reply.

"Then I'll personally take it to your table."

"I'll take up your offer then, Joohyun." The girl said with a smile, leaning away from the counter. "And maybe if you're not too busy... you could accompany me for a while."

The girl winked and picked a seat at the back of the coffee shop, pulling out a laptop and starting to work on something.

Seohyun turned around, she took a deep breath in, closed her eyes and placed a hand over her heart that was beating erratically.

"Wow, so you actually have a drive?" Taeyeon's voice was heard then.

She opened her eyes immediately and saw Taeyeon and Tiffany smiling teasingly at her. Seohyun ignored Taeyeon's question and proceeded to make the beautiful customer's coffee.

"I honestly you were aual." Tiffany said now. "Seriously I never expected to see our little Joohyunie flirting with a beautiful girl."

"I... I wasn't flirting." Seohyun muttered as she stole a glance at the beautiful customer and sighed.

"She's right, it was more of a Seohyun-gawking-shamelessly-at-a-customer-and-the-latter-trying-to-hint-Seohyun-that-she-was-flirting kind of situation." Taeyeon said as she watched Seohyun get started on the sandwich.

"She wasn't flirting with me..." Seohyun said as she placed the sandwich on a plate and checked that it was perfect.

"Of course she was." Tiffany said as she chuckled at the oblivious Seohyun.

"Yeah, that peak at your name tag for example, she probably wanted to ogle you,"Taeyeon said as she moved her eyebrows suggestively. "I know what I'm talking about, I pulled that move on Tiffany when we met."

"Not everyone is as erted as you." Seohyun said, now placing the coffee on a cup and paying special attention so it would look delicious.

"Maybe, but maybe she is." Taeyeon replied with ease.

"Now, go and continue flirting with her." Tiffany said as she placed the cup and the plate on a tray and handed it to Seohyun. "I totally want your first lesbian flirting adventure to be a success." Taeyeon laughed out loud at Tiffany's last comment.

"But-" Seohyun started.

"No buts, we'll handle anyone who comes if they do, now go and flirt with your red beanie girl."

Seohyun nodded and took the tray, slowly making her way to the girl's table.

"Your order's ready." She said as she stood in front of the table.

"Oh, seems like you weren't busy." The girl said with a playful smile as she moved to farthest end of the bech and patted the spot next to her, so Seohyun could sit next to her in the booth.

"It's not that, I just could spare a few minutes." Seohyun replied nonchalantly, placing the tray in the table and then sitting next to her.

The girl just stared at her in a way Seohyun couldn't quite understand before she chuckled lightly.

"You're so cute." The girl mumbled and Seohyun felt her cheeks heat up but chuckled nonetheless. "I'm Yoona, by the way."

"Oh, nice name." Seohyun replied, wanting to face palm at her dumb reply.

"Yours is not bad either." Yoona replied as she closed her laptop and took the sandwich. "I apologize before hand, because I eat like a pig."

The cute shy look that appeared on Yoona's face then caused Seohyun to smile brightly, causing the other girl to blush.

"It's okay, at least you don't look like one." Seohyun replied, not quite sure how was she able to feel so comfortable with a complete stranger.

Yoona and Seohyun met gazes and smiled at the same time, Seohyun's cheeks and whole body turning a light shade of pink as she couldn't seem to be able to think rationally at the sight of the other girl's bright smile.

"Now tell me, Seohyun." Yoona said over her second toffee nut latte and now a piece of chocolate cake. "Why are you and your friends working on Christmas eve?"

"Honestly, we don't know." Seohyun replied simply. "The manager said he was going to open, he knows that our families aren't here so we technically have nothing to do today so he told us we were going to work today. That's it." She continued. "And you? what are you doing in a coffee shop alone in christmas eve?"

"Just like you,my father is in Korea, I'm in California, he is busy, I don't want to disturb him soooo, here I am." Yoona said nonchalantly.

"And, excuse me if I sound rude, don't you have friends to spend today with?" Seohyun asked carefully.

"Why am I not spending it with a newfound friend?" Yoona asked jokingly, and although Seohyun felt nice to already be considered a friend to the slightly older girl another part of her was wishing she hadn't friendzoned her that fast. "And I am spending it later at a party with some friends, it starts 10ish eleven at much, but I was hungry and there was nothing in my fridge... and this was the only place I found open at 8:00 p.m. in Christmas Eve that sold food that was already prepared." Yoona said between smiles and eyes that couldn't leave Seohyun. "I'm glad I did though, if not I hadn't met you."

Seohyun blushed a bright red but smiled at the girl.

"I'm glad you did too, you're very nice to have around."

Yoona smiled brightly and just as she was about to reply someone interrupted them.

"I'm so sorry girls." Tiffany said with a smile with a small Taeyeon trailing behind her. "But it's already ten and we have to close up, and with we, we mean you too Seohyun."

Seohyun laughed lightly and nodded.

"It's okay, I'll be there in a sec." She turned to Yoona only to see the smile she hadn't seen vanish in their nearly two hours talking slowly fade away.

"I'm sorry, I need to help out, let me put the rest of your coffee and your cake in a take out bag." Seohyun said and Yoona nodded, a small smile on her features.

They headed to the counter where Seohyun placed the rest of the cake in a small container and the rest of the coffee in a carton cup and heating it.

"Here." Seohyun said, handing the things to Yoona as Taeyeon and Tiffany were already taking in the chairs that were outside.

"Thank you." Yoona replied with a smile. "Are you gonna work tomorrow as well?" Seohyun nodded. "Great, then I'll come tomorrow."

Yoona then slipped a small piece of paper in between Seohyun's fingers, leaned in and placed a lingering kiss in the girl's cheek.

"Text me at what time you're here later." Yoona said as she leaned away, she laughed at Seohyun's red face. "See you and Merry Christmas."

And with that the girl turned around and headed out of the store.

"Wow," Tiffany said after Yoona left the place. "Did she really give you a peck in the cheek?"

"So... first lesbian flirting adventure was a success?" Taeyeon asked.

"Totally." Seohyun said as she stared at Yoona's number not believing what had just happened.

"She's so thirsty." Taeyeon said on December thirty as she watched Yoona arrive to the coffee shop like she had done everyday during their shift. But unlike the first day, everytime she had come to the coffee shop it was quite crowded, so she just sat in the back and waited until Seohyun's shift was off.

"Thirsty?" Seohyun asked as she helped Taeyeon prepare the coffees, Tiffany being in charge of the register for a while.

"Thirsty for you, of course." Taeyeon said with a small smile. "Invite her over to our 'New Years Party'"

"You mean small dinner, then hug at midnight wishing each other a good new year and then watch movies until Taeyeon and Tiffany start making out so Seohyun goes to her room and puts on headphones so she doesn't hear her friends doing it shamelessly in the room next to hers?" Seohyun replied before calling out the person whose coffee she was holding.

"Call it however you like, I'll call it New Years Party." Taeyeon said before she called out for anothr client. "If she comes over, at least you won't be alone, I promise I'll gag Tiffany so we don't get too loud."

"Ugh, I'm too innocent to be with you two." Seohyun said.

"You're with us, that means you're not so innocent." Tiffany said as she made her way to them. "Finally someone else got here, so I'll help you with the coffee."

"Thanks." Seohyun and Taeyeon said as they continued to work.

An hour later, their shift was finally over and Yoona was already in the door waiting for Seohyun with a huge smile plastered on her face.

"Hey Hyun." She said cheerfully when Seohyun reached where she was.

"Don't bring her home too late, or we'll assume you're doing things." Taeyeon said to Yoona playfully as she and Tiffany made their way out of the shop while holding hands.

"They really are something, huh?" Yoona asked Seohyun as they walked out of the shop, watching as Taeyeon got in a motorcycle and Tiffany sat behind her, wrapping her arms around the petite waist of the shorter girl.

"They sure are." Seohyun said with a fond smile.

"They remind me of Jessica and Yuri, my neighbors, they are so but so in love, they're cute." Yoona said with a smile. "I'm glad I'm not in my roomate Sooyoung's room, you know, she hears them when they go at it at night."

"That's what I live with almost everyday with those two." Seohyun said. "The first months after I got there they were trying to be silent, I suppose, until one day they told me 'We're sorry' and gifted me some noise cancelling headphones, I didn't understand why they gave me that, but at night when I got home from classes and heard how loud Tiffany was I realized the meaning of their gift."

Yoona laughed loudly and Seohyun couldn't help but wonder how was possible for someone to look so ridiculously beautiful while laughing in such an unflattering way.

They walked to a nearby park and then sat down on a bench.

"Hey... I was thinking..." Seohyun started, fidgeting with her shirt.

"Yes?" Yoona asked.

"I wanted to know if you'd like to spend New Year's Eve with me, Taeyeon and Tiffany." Seohyun asked quietly.

"Oh, and what do you do on New Year's Eve?" Yoona asked curiously, knowing that although Tiffany was a social butterfly according to Seohyun, those three spent most of their time at home or at work.

"We just have a small dinner, congratulate each other for the New Year and then watch movies until they get bored and start making out on the couch so I just go to my room and put on my headphones." Yoona laughed loudly as Seohyun finished her explanation.

"And you seriously want to put me through that?" A disarming smile displaying on her features.

"Not really, but I want you there with me." Seohyun said without thinking, a brittle smile on her lips as she didn't know how the other girl would take it.

She noticed the girl's face go blank for a second, before a cute blush took over her face and a shy yet infectuos smile sketched itself on her face.

"Then I'll gladly go." She said with ease, causing Seohyun to beam at her.

The dinner had been a simple one, yet it was one of the best Seohyun had ever had, with Yoona with them, she didn't feel like a third wheel anymore and as they all engaged in funny and meaningless conversations about everything and nothing all at the same time she couldn't help but want for this to happen more often.

"I'll go get the cider." Tiffany said. "Do you handle alcohol well Yoona? So I can know how much to pour in your glass."

"I can handle it quite well." Yoona said with a small smile to the young woman that was pouring the drink.

"Finally, someone I can drink with." She said with a playful smile. "These two can't even handle a glass."

Yoona laughed and shook her head at the other two girls whose glasses had very little cider, just enough for them to toast.

"For a great New Year!" Tiffany exclaimed happily as she raised her glass.

The other three raised their glasses as well and agreed with Tiffany, then proceeding to take a sip from their glasses.

"The clock's about to strike Twelve!" Said Taeyeon this time, a cute grin edged on her lips.

5... Tiffany took Taeyeon's face between her hands

4... Seohyun shook her head as she watched the other two prepar for their new year's kiss

3... Taeyeon positions her hands on Tiffany's waist

2... Seohyun feel Yoona's gaze on her so she turns to look at her

1... Yoona places her hands on Seohyun's cheeks suddenly, causing the latter to be surprised

Instead of hearing 'Happy New Year!' as Seohyun would normally tell herself as she watched her friends kiss each other in congralutory way, this time around she was too busy watching how Yoona approached her slowly, although she was sure Yoona took less than a second to press their foreheads together and make their noses touch from the closeness.

Taeyeon and Tiffany were far too busy to notice or hear, knowing that since Seohyun had someone this time around they didn't have to worry about leaving her alone.

"Can I kiss you?" Yoona asked then, her breath hitting Seohyun's lips and the latter wasn't sure if she had breathing altogether or if Yoona was stealing her breath away with that question.

"I.. yes." Seohyun replied quickly yet all too slowly. Yoona just smirked before leaning down slowly.

"Happy New Year, babe." Yoona whispered against Seohyun's lips, before the latter could reply, Yoona's lips were molded against her own in a way that left her speechless, breathless and brainless all at the same time.

Seohyun was just sure of one thing as she slowly slid her hands around Yoona's neck to pull her even closer.

She had started this year with a bang.
